Not sure if blaming the battery is fair. But the RX100 really needs a bigger battery than this. It is so silly to put these tiny batteries in cameras so manufacturers can show lighter weight and smaller bodies. Then you end up having to carry 5 batteries in your pocket to get through a day.

If you buy it from WM or AMZN, it'll be a counterfeit. I bought one from each of those, and from both I recevied counterfeits, for practically the same price! What I received from B&H was legit. While there are a few videos out there that describe what the counterfeits look like, they don't mentioned the finish on the metal covering. The fakes have a polished metal look, the genuine ones have a brushed stainless finish.

I have bought these previously from Walmart and Amazon, both sent counterfeits. What I received from B&H was legit. There's lots of youtube videos showing the differences, but one they fail to mention is the finish on the metal part. The genuine ones have a brushed stainless look (like the picture), the fakes have a polished look. Those other online retailers show a picture of the genuine one, but what you get, is counterfeit.

I'm wary of 3rd-party batteries, unless I know the brand well. So I always stick with the camera maker's batteries. This may not have as long a life as larger batteries in larger cameras, but that's the trade-off when we go for a good pocket camera. If you maintain your battery the way you're supposed to, it will pay off in more pictures and longer life.
Sure, the battery is more expensive than a 3rd party. But, will the 3rd party battery give you the best service? Maybe. But, if you have an important milestone in your life, and you want to record it, are you willing to take that chance? Personally, no. Not worth the stress. It is only a few dollars different.. This product is made specifically for your device. Just my opinion.
The Sony ZV-1 camera comes with one battery included. I wanted to make sure I had enough battery to finish my projects, and as backup in case the one battery did have issues. This works well for that purpose.Be aware that to charge an extra battery you will need to purchase a separate battery charger, this comes in two required pieces. The battery charger, and the specific battery adapter for the NP-BX battery.I have yet to exhaust a fully charged battery in usage, but I am comfortable knowing that I do have backup should I actually do use the entire charge of a single battery.
These are unfortunately the only real option for the Sony RX series camera like the RX100VII I use a lot for my everyday fun camera...which is still very capable. Or the new Sony ZV-1 camera for vlogging which I have used a lot too. These little guys are light but really just don't do enough and Sony really has to address this for the next generation of any of these models badly in my opinion. I literally carry 5 with me and just shouldn't be needed, but it is. Two batteries will last you two hours....so if you are out and about walking around in nature for example with your monitor set to Sunny Weather mode and the camera powering on and off between shots a lot...it will zap a battery I bet in 45 minutes. Just need to be more solid and even if heavier and slightly ... MoreThese are unfortunately the only real option for the Sony RX series camera like the RX100VII I use a lot for my everyday fun camera...which is still very capable. My standard practice of getting brand specific batteries is paying off. Even though the Sony RX100 VII has a CIPA battery rating of 240 shots I've found with a genuine battery and depending how you shoot you'll get lots more than that per charge.I recently shot my grandson's swim meet shooting in continuous HIGH frame rate and had 659 pictures and the battery icon meter hadn't moved off full. I don't review a lot when shooting, maybe double check a few images then keep shooting.I always recommend getting name brand batteries. They last longer year over year and multiple charge cycles. These also come with nice clear plastic cases to keep the terminals clean.
Price isn't too bad & these batteries are very slim, which is a good thing because you need to carry a few with you (if you like doing lots of video).I'm glad that these are compatible with both of my different Sony Cameras, makes bringing chargers easy.If I had to make a complaint regarding this battery is that (a) for the price of the rx100m5 and knowing how bad the battery life is, its a shame Sony doesn't give you two (as well as the portable battery charger BC-DCX & (B) Sony does make a fast charger for this (BCTRX) however its still only a single bay charger, I have 6 of these bad boys and it would be nice to have a multi bay charger. Yeah i know 3rd party makes chargers but I've never liked going 3rd party when it comes to batteries. Yeah i know 3rd party makes chargers but I've never liked going 3rd party when it comes to batteries. Lastly I will leave you with this.. If this is your 1st or 2nd additional battery, consider getting one of the Sony kits: (each will run you about $12 more vs just buying a single battery)*ACCTRBX come with 1x NP-BX1 battery & Multi Battery fast (135min) wall Charger. You will need some sort of external battery charger, otherwise your wasting your time if your primary charging solution is in camera. If you dont buy the charge via a kit and you separate your purchases, the wall charger alone will run you about $40, so it is wise to just get it via the kit. I think the only fail of this wall charger is that they advertise that it has a usb port to support charging external devices, but you have to manually switch it to do so. Its a shame the device is not set to charge the battery first then divert power to the usb port*ACCTRDCX comes with 1 x NP-BX1 battery & a single bay X type USB charger. The same price as the wall charger I listed above but the benefit of this unit is that its USB power. This means you can plug it into a wall charger, plug it into your pc/laptop, plug it into a portable usb battery, into your car... the sky is the limit. It charges a little slower than the wall charger, however if you pair this with the Sony ACUD11 wall charger, the manual says charge time is 155mins (230 mins without). I'm not sure if you actually need the Sony ACUD11 or something that matches the power output. As I mentioned, if you this is going to be your first additional battery for your camera, consider getting 1 of the kits. If you plan to pick up more than 1 battery, you might want to consider getting 1 of each kit that will give you options in the future.
One of the few problems with some of the Sony cameras (e.g., the RX1Rii) is a relatively short battery life. So it is important to always carry a couple of spare batteries in your kit. While there are off-market batteries available, some of them have given me problems, but I have never had a problem with the original OEM Sony batteries. It is worth the slightly higher price to get the OEM battery.
