Best things about SONY:- Amazing sound output- A bit sticky sometimes but otherwise fully operational in full heat (usually screen overheat sometimes for any electrical device)- Android auto/carplay- Reverse Camera plug-in is very responsive whenever you change gears- Needs a steering wheel module for my 2014 Hodna Civic- Matt screen so no fingerprints but sometimes hard to see in sunlight- Touchscreen is resistive so don't expect a full on capacitive touch, nails would work too

I quite like the functions of the stereo, the sound controller is pretty good with a decent array of settings to customise the sound. I found the dab signal to be pretty poor even though the areal is positioned correctly. Also I really wish there was better screen mirroring options for video services, being restricted to YouTube is terrible! Why can't we use Netflix / TV streaming services. Also another draw back is that you have to be connected by cable for android / apple car play. A Bluetooth option would be much more user friendly. Overall I think it's a pretty good stereo though, hopefully some updates to at least let you mirror other video streaming services would be a massive plus in my opinion.

Radio is disappointing, FM and DAB. Have added an external aerial as the supplied stick on windscreen item was very poor but not much improvement with the external aerial unless in a very strong signal area and stationary....which is pretty useless really. The USB port unfortunately does not charge the phone so when using Android auto for any long distance, the phone goes flat....poor design from Sony. I've had to add a visor on the radio as the screen brightness is low, particularly in bright sun. Sound quality is good though, much improved over the standard VW unit. I'll persevere with the unit as I like the look and its relative simplicity to use but wouldn't purchase again and still may consider returning within the warranty period as the radio is not really ... MoreRadio is disappointing, FM and DAB. I installed this in Dodge Grand Caravan and added a backup cam. The first thing I noticed is that the Sony head unit was missing the details and clarity that I appreciated with the OEM Dodge stereo (which was a very basic stereo, not a premium unit). 6months later I still miss the sound of the OEM radio and I'm hoping that adding an aftermarket amplifier will help. I like that it works with Apple and Android. Backup cam functionality works well and even has settings to shift the backup lines if your camera is not centered properly. In full sunlight the screen is dim and hard to see. There is only one USB port so you can only connect a phone, or muic storage, but cannot do both at the same time.
Had this system for more than a year now. The sound quality is good but there are several limitation on this system.1. The system when using car play has many bugs. For one if your on a phone call the entire system is so slow. Just swiping on the screen is an effort and you can see the screen move in frames. Tried this on multiple iPhones/cables but nothing helps. Everything works fine in my other car with a manufacturer default car play system.2. If you on a call and try to start navigation the navigation voice(google maps) will scream at you with an ungodly loud volume. The audio will also break with the phone audio and seems like another audio bug with this unit.I would recommend you look into another brand. Just check Reddit and all Sony systems seem to have ... MoreHad this system for more than a year now. The sound quality is good but there are several limitation on this system.1. Excellent radio, couldnt be happier with my coice. I have no amp or sub in my car, just 4 6.5 speakers and 2 indash tweeters and this radio still sounds amazing with some decent thump to it! It is very simple to operate and get used to controls. Screen looks beautiful, crisp and clear, radio has an auto dimming feature that works with ur cars headlights. Only complaint i can think of so far is that the buttons on radio are very tiny and a bit hard to press but that is easily remidied by using the remote it comes with or if u use bluetooth with cellphone not a problem either. It comes with a few basic wallpapers to choose from for some customization and using a usb stick u can add more. Has android auto, apple car play and wifi connect. Unfortunately the android auto and apple car play are not wireless as far as ive been able to tell so far but i still have alot more experimenting to do yet. I personally bought an extended 3 year warranty for radio just incase, it was cheap enough so with 1 year manufacturer warranty i have 4 yrs coverage on my investment just incase, u never know, id rather have iyt and not need it then not have it and need it.
Pretty nice HU. I have it paired up with Focal PS 165 V1 components and Focal Auditor coaxes running off Audison SR amps. Other gear was installed but not relevant to this review.I wish the pre-out voltage was higher and that it had some more audio tweaks like T/A, but it sounds great as is. Apparently DSO adds some T/A and it does spice up the sound nicely, but I would prefer to actually control those parameters. Changing EQ settings is easy, but it's annoying that you have to use the slider. I wish there were arrow keys for more precise control, as they are there in the balance/fade controls.Physical buttons are awesome! I find myself using them almost exclusively. Illumination is solid white and adjustable, with the option to disable it completely.I also ... MorePretty nice HU. Illumination is solid white and adjustable, with the option to disable it completely.I also liked that I didn't have to run a separate GPS antenna for Android Auto, as running all the other wiring was a task in itself. The screen does get bright (at night at least, and there's an option to dim it), but it is washed out. Doesn't matter to me, I'm solely using it for music.I added a PAC USB socket that replaces a cigarette lighter. With my S23, it charges slowly but surely. This also reminds me that the Sony has a very long USB cable from the rear, so be prepared to tuck that away. I didn't want to spend more for wireless Android Auto, so wired it is. Currently devising a manner to secure my MagSafe case to the dash and run the cable in a neat manner. Now, for what actually matters: operation and sound. This thing is crisp. I can go in between apps in Android Auto mode without a hitch. No lag. The screen is very responsive and I have no qualms with it. Make sure to calibrate it in the settings or else your touch input may be off by a decent amount and have you wondering why it's clicking the wrong thing.Sound quality is great! Per my measuring, I got pre-out clipping at 40/50 with the subwoofer level at +10, setting my optimal gains there. There's no hissing, humming, etc. with my class D amps. I've had that issue in the past, but not here. Maybe the Audisons are a step up from the Alpine PDX I previously used, but nonetheless, this thing is clean to my ears. Make sure to buy good RCAs to mitigate unwanted noise. Most of the preset EQ options are pretty aggressive, but I'm more of a flat EQ listener anyway. 10 bands for custom EQing are there if you need them, along with some basic crossover settings. It's very barebones, but if your speakers are installed properly and are of high quality, your foundation should be pretty solid out of the gate. Can't comment on the internal amp, never used it. Call quality with the BT mic gets the job done, nothing more. I think that covers just about everything.Would I buy it again? I would. Just be aware that it's wired AA and your sound tweaking options are limited.Thank you for reading!
The jury is still out on this one. I waited a month, I spent about an hour and a half trying to get any service at Best Buy so that someone can direct me to buy the correct radio. I was told to buy this radio I was told I have to wait a month before I can get service. I waited and then when I picked it up 2 hours later they said oh you're going to have to come back and maybe it'll be 3 hours before we get your rear camera hooked up to this radio and then I said what about my CD player down here in the TV etc and they said oh no none of that comes with your Sony radio and I said you told me that I wasn't going to get GPS on my new radio you didn't say that all the other stuff that was hooked up to my Factory radio is not part of this. So I'm not sure why I spent $600. to get a radio. I could have spent $100 to get a radio and he said oh you got a little remote here so in case somebody sitting in the back of the van that wants to work your radio that's when it's a little remote is for so needless to say I'm not happy. not happy that I have to leave a sick mother at home for another 3 hours while they service my vehicle, not happy that I'm not sure that I can even trust them to do that because why wouldn't they have told me that the first time? Why would I spend an hour and a half to get a radio that has none of the amenities of the other radio I had previously and this is with the actual installer selecting this radio for me. I don't know what his name is. Tim? And some other sales person that had no idea what he was doing in Best Buy.
I had a Boss after market system with backup camera in my 2016 Mazda 6. It worked fine for two years. But recently callers either could not hear me clearly with the bluetooth connection, or the connection would drop suddenly. After validating the phone was NOT the issue. A price that was competitive with other retailers, including Amazon.I made sure free installation was on the receipt and they set me up an appointment (about 7 days out) at check-out.With the receipt I hopped by a much more rural Best Buy, in Gainesville, GA. They were able to fit me in the next day.1. The installation, since I already had a third party system, with a wiring harness, literally, took them less than 1 hr and 45 minutes.2. The system fit my dashboard perfectly, with no visible gaps.3. I was pleasantly shocked because the wattage on this system, blew me out of the car, even though I had it on a low volume setting, compared to the Boss system I had. I'm very careful of the volume setting when I cut it on.4. Android Auto, immediately activated and worked well, when I connect my phone to the system.5. The buttons are pretty intuitive, even it took me a second to find the phone and setting icons (you slide the icons at the bottom of the screen to the left.6. My Boss installation came with a backup camera. It worked seamlessly with this Sony unit.7. Sound settings, have a separate slider if you have a subwoofer (I don't have one).8. It has a remote, but it is kind of hard to operate, because of its small size, if you are trying to keep your eyes on the road. So I just use the screen.9. It has some pre-set EQ settings, but you can customize your own sound profile with an equalizer.10. My speakers are original OEM, but this head unit definitely makes them sound better.Final-Installation was fast and great. Quality and volume of sound is much better. I'm happy with it.
