I love the camera for what it is (when it works). It performs well, the 4k option is great and picture quality is impressive for the price, I like a lot of the digital features like stabilization and background blur etc. After owning the camera for about 6 months, out of the blue the camera started acting up. The camera would not turn off. After pushing the power button, it would turn off for a second or 2 and immediately turn itself back on. The button itself was not stuck or anything, and I have never dropped the camera or got it wet or anything that would warrant the camera to be act up. After a quick google search several other people experienced the same thing, and the result was the board had errors or issues. I was very disappointed in Sony for this issue because I have always trusted Sony as a top quality company.

The Sony Digital Camera ZV-1M2 Vlog Camera is impressive and fun to use. My favorite feature might sound a little lame, but it is the ultra-wide zoom. After years of photographing architectural structures inside and out, I find this Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T ultra-wide 18-50mm zoom lens to be perfect for streetscapes and commercial buildings without having to carry a bag of extra lenses to get different angles and still shots. The camera is automated to always deliver the best results. With its real-time Autofocus Tracking and Eye AF it prioritizes faces and emphasizes the subject in dim situations or where the background light is too bright. The polycarbonate body is light which helps the camera only weigh 10.3 oz. For all that this camera is capable of, it is also very small at 2.4â by 4.2â by 1.8â. There are accommodations on the body of the camera to put a wrist cord or strap and I looked for one in the box because the camera could easily slip out of your hand while moving with it when filming video or taking still- photo shots. I did not find one, but I did find one for sale on the Sony website. Some people do not like to use wrist straps, but they have always helped me to not drop the camera while traveling and this is a good camera to take along on a trip. The camera is equipped with a good three-capsule stereo mic and a shoe mount for attaching the included windscreen, an exterior microphone, or a flash attachment. Along with the microphone on the top of the camera is the ON/OFF button, the Bokeh effects control, shutter release, REC button and a zoom rocker. Controls on the rear of the camera include an Fn, Menu, Delete, and Play buttons. There is also a control wheel with a center enter button which allows for numerous specific settings that can be viewed on the LCD screen which doubles as a touch screen. This LCD screen is a 3-inch 921K-dot screen, and it can be turned 180 degrees to either have the view window on the inside when closed or on the outside. When moving around with the camera the LCD screen is much more protected when it is on the inside when closed. Folding the LCD screen in and out also controls the on/off of the camera. There are numerous exposure modes that when coupled with autofocus, a great wide-angle zoom lens, solid and clear audio, and all the other features designed into the camera make it easy to achieve professional results with a little practice. Turning on ACTIVE Shot digital stabilization is a must for all handheld recordings, and it works even while walking. The camera has been designed with a very fast shutter and with different speed settings for continuous still photographs.A couple of the additional accessories that can be purchased include a wireless shooting grip for around $140.00 that is very handy for walking with the camera and for shooting selfie vlogs, the wrist strap, an external microphone, and a flash attachment. You might also consider purchasing 2-3 additional batteries which brings me to the only reason that I cannot give this camera 5-stars. The battery life is very poor and lasts a respectable amount of time if you are only using the camera to shoot still photographs. However, if you are filming and using still photographs, extra batteries are a must or else you will be stopping your project and charging batteries frequently. Besides poor battery performance, I have to say that otherwise this is a great design. If you are looking for a pocket camera that has Bluetooth to your mobile device and the ability to upload your work with the use of Sonyâs Creators App, numerous features and settings designed to produce professional photography, solid stabilization, color optimization, terrific audio, and a camera that can produce high quality 4K movies and 20.1 megapixel still photos, then this is definitely the Vlog camera for you.

Its a good camera. I was really looking for a device that can take better quality photos than my iPhone. Its got a 1-inch sensor that I like, as it has excellent low-light capabilities. Its portable/pocketable, which is what I need as I do travel. I don't have much use for its vlogging capability but its good to know I have it available.I'm a little disappointed in the zoom range and I wish it could zoom up to 120 mm.I bought this as a compromise on price, as I really did not have the money to spring for a 6700 APS-C or the A7C, both with multiple lenses and each setup will set me back about $2500. This camera, together with the accesory vlogging, subcardiod mic and extra batteries (off Amazon) set me back a little $1000. Its a bit pricey for what I consider as ... MoreIts a good camera. Its a bit pricey for what I consider as a glorified point and shoot.I do have an issue with the movie button and the other buttons on top as my fingers were used to manipulate Nikon and older model Sonys and cellphones, so I kept messing up/triggering the video button by mistake. In time I will sort it out.Is it worth it? I would say 90% yes, as a part of me still longed for either the A7C or the 6700 with the multiple lenses. But then again, budgets are real.
Still learning the camera but 2 really big things that I've noticed are the digital stabilization and the not-so-great battery life! I love the quality of the camera but when I would watch videos and they said the battery died quickly... THEY WERN'T EXAGGERATING! About 20-30 min of filming the battery is dead. I don't know if there is a way to make it last longer but it can get really frustrating. I bought 3 extra batteries but still, having to change them out so often can get old. The camera also doesn't come with a charger so you will need to buy one. I was not a fan of this but I use the charger from the off brand batteries I bought. The stabilization is also a bit wonky sometimes but I feel like Sony just doesn't ever have the best stabilization and I am used to ... MoreStill learning the camera but 2 really big things that I've noticed are the digital stabilization and the not-so-great battery life! I really like the lightness and design of this camera and all of its features! I bought it as a vlog camera and the field of view is perfect and it is easy to carry around. Would be absolutely perfect if the battery life was a little better and if it had in body stabilization too! Still worth getting and an upgrade from my 7 year old well over Canon G7x mark ii!
A tiny camera, with great image quality. Sure beats lugging around my old SLR with all of it's lenses. And it takes far better images than my smartphone. It may seem obvious where it might be to some, but several of my staff and family couldn't find the button without me telling them where to look. The zoom is a bit noisy and the mic pickup is strong. Also, the focus is a bit slow and you have to be very intentional with waiting for it to focus before snapping the image.I love that it uses USB-C for charging. I dislike that it didn't come with a charger. Moreover, I couldn't even use it out of the box without going and getting a big memory stick. Wish these manufacturers would just start packing a basic memory stick in with these type of devices and leave it up to me to go get a bigger/better one later. All in all, it's a good camera, and it has a companion app for your smartphone to assist with usage. I would recommend it to anyone needing a quick camera for everyday use.
I like the camera! I was torn between the Sony zv1 and the canon g7x. However so itâs popularity the canon ended up being back ordered with no update on when theyâd be available again. Everyone said they were similar so I decided to try my hand. I bought a pre owned one that was offered to be like new. It was! Though this isnât related to Best Buy directly my one complaint is that it comes with no batteries or a charger. So be prepared to buy one, especially multiple batteries as Iâd say they last about an hour during filming. My one qualm with Best Buy in itself is that, I donât know how thorough they check pre owned returns, but the usb provided was not compatible with the camera. I have been making vlogs and home made movies of my family vacation for the last 15 years, and in the last couple years, I started using my phone to record video. Using my phone to record has been convenient, but two downsides are the microphone is not great especially in windy conditions and the storage of my phone can get full quickly. I was fortunate to take a vacation in July, and I put the ZV-1M2 to the test. I made the decision to only use the ZV-1m2 and not my phone or mirrorless camera to record our family activities. After a week of usage, I can say this will be coming with me in my future trips because it checks several boxes for me.Here is a quick breakdown of why I am loving the ZV-1M2:-18mm-50mm zoom lens: this is a beautiful lens that is wide enough to get the frame I need when I am recording myself and my family with a small selfie stick. The 1.8 aperture at 18mm is beautiful and creates blurry backgrounds which provide such a detailed video specially if shooting in 4k. Itâs beautiful.-Directional audio: this is the first camera I have ever used which has smart audio capabilities where the camera knows where the subject is located. I tested this with my spouse, and itâs ridiculously how good it is. If no one was in front, it would record me, but if she was in front it would record her. If the two of us were taking turns talking, it would go back and forth and pick up both of our voices. Amazing feature that is so handy!-Touchscreen and features: very responsive touchscreen that manages to stay bright on a sunny day. I am familiar with Sony cameras, and so navigating the menu and features was easy. I am still playing around with new features that are on this camera, but so far I havenât found it overwhelming.-Movie and picture quality: the video and picture quality surpass that of my phone without a doubt, however, the quality of the picture is better from my mirrorless camera and thatâs not a surprise. The ZV-1M2 is meant for video but the fact that it can still take some decent 20-megapixel photos is a plus for me. Having the zoom option is also handy even if the aperture doesnât stay at 1.8f. The image stabilization is decent, but I do notice that the one on my phone is a bit better. That said, itâs not enough reason to start vlogging with the phone again.-Battery life: this is the only negative side. I donât think I got more than an hour of recording with this because I was shooting 4k 30fps. I had to go back and charge the camera at least 2 times during the vacation. All in all, after taking this in my first vacation, I was happy to keep my phone in my pocket or even in the car sometimes because I was just carrying the ZV-1M2. I capture video and pictures, and to my surprise, itâs making me consider if I need to bring the mirrorless camera with me on the tours. Itâs just so much more convenient to bring these which fits on a pocket. You will need to bring extra batteries though because the battery goes quick just by shooting video. This was the only thing I was surprised by in a negative way, but it charges back up again fast thanks to the USB-C connection, but I already ordered a couple extra batteries. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to keep their phone separate from their vlogging activities. I donât need to have all the video clips from my vacation on my phone, I rather have that on a designated camera and if that camera can shoot some decent pictures, I may not even bring the mirrorless camera either. I canât wait to shoot the next family vacation! It made things easier for me and improved my audio and video quality of my family trips.
I havenât had a digital camera since mobile phones started packing better cameras and when I had the opportunity to review this Sony ZV1-II I had to jump on it. Letâs get into this review with my overall impressions first and then a breakdown of the pros and cons of this camera.Overall Impresssions:The Sony ZV-1 II is a great camera for vloggers and content creators. It has a large sensor, which lets it capture excellent image quality in low light. It also has fast and accurate autofocus, which is important for vlogging when you need to keep your subject or yourself in focus. The camera also has a flip-out screen, which is great for vlogging when you want to see yourself in the frame. It also has a built-in microphone and speaker, so you can record and playback your videos without having to carry around extra equipment. This camera is very suitable to use as a webcam with just one USB cable to connect. Itâs also portable and versatile enough to be a portable vlogging camera. The fact that it excels in taking still images is also a huge plus. One feature when using the Creatorâs App from Sony on your phone is the ability to download videos and images straight from your camera via WiFi/Bluetooth, which eliminates the need to remove your SD card every time you want to upload your photos.Overall, Iâd recommend the Sony ZV-1 II as a great option for vloggers and content creators. It's easy to use and has many features that will help you create high-quality videos and still images. Here are some of the pros and cons of the Sony ZV-1 II:Pros:Fantastic image qualityFast and accurate autofocusFlip-out screenBuilt-in microphone and speakerPlenty of shooting modesProduct Showcase modeBackground Defocus modeCons:Definitely a little priceyBattery life could be betterNo 4K60p video recordingIf you're looking for a great camera for vlogging, the Sony ZV-1 II is a great option, with just a couple of caveats, like the lack of 4k/60fps recording.
The Sony ZV-1 II has become my go-to camera on the run because it's versatile, compact, and light. Like most Sony cameras it's intuitive and easy to use out of the box but has more advanced settings that can grow with you. My favorite features of this camera are the fast face to product focus, the easy defocus background, and being able to shoot vertical videos that are phone friendly. This is a vlog camera and shouldn't be considered for much else. The digital zoom isn't good for much. On a nice sunny day the pictures and videos weren't clear at max zoom. I liked zooming in during filming because it was smooth and dynamic but it would pause at thresholds. I wish it was consistent all the way to the max zoom. The built in microphone is really cool. I liked zooming in during filming because it was smooth and dynamic but it would pause at thresholds. I wish it was consistent all the way to the max zoom. The built in microphone is really cool. It has an auto setting to detect and pick up sound from any direction or you can lock it to front or back. The quality was good at arms length but started to deteriorate when you got further away. This could be good enough when just starting out or if you don't plan on recording at a distance. The multi-interface shoe helps give you options to upgrade. I was impressed with the low light video. The darker it got the grainier the video got but sometimes something's better than nothing. I like using the Slow & Quick mode to shoot slow product showcases. The image stabilization isn't the best but there is a slight improvement when moving. You still need to walk smoothly to not make the audience motion sick. There is a Soft Skin Effect that I didn't personally care for but I think some might find convenient. Another feature that fell in that bucket was the Cinematic Vlog Setting. This changed the aspect ratio and allowed for some built in filters to be applied. That's just not how I make content but I could see that being useful to some.I'm excited to have this and use this when making my future content. I would definitely recommend this to someone that is looking for a vlog camera that has just a bit more.
