I then need to go back into the app and turn it down again before going into YouTube again. This is rather frustrating, would nice to have an option for sound profiles to be setup that recognise input method and switch to the appropriate one, but at the very least custom EQ/sound profile presets that I can quickly switch between without needing to change multiple settings each time. For example, YouTube I want lower volume limit and treble, Music (from phone) I would want bass and volume limit up, TV I would want a middle EQ with higher volume limit.Another gripe is the rubbish EQ. Whilst this option is well and good for simple/beginner users, I want more detailed EQ options to better tweak the sound overall as the basic EQ makes too broad a change resulting washed dialogue and inconsistent bass application. An option for a more advanced EQ would surely be a simple app update I feel.Final quibble was setting up surrounds as I wanted to have 4 x Symfonisk speakers (2 x front and 2 x rear) to make a 'true' 5.1 surround system, however it seems that I can set up two speakers as rear surrounds only and no option for fronts.I gather than the Beam is supposed to function as 3 speakers (left, middle, rear), but seems shortsighted not to have the option to put fronts in for additional fill. Guess it would technically become a 7.1 system at that point, but seems odd not to be able to do that. Can sort of work around it with a 2nd room setup in the app, but the delay is too tricky to manage. In short, the setup is limited due to the overly simplistic app EQ and sound options with no custom presets available. An app update to fix this would go a long way to improving the product overall

It was mainly purchased because my wife wanted to better hear whatever was on the TV verses the sounds from cooking. This it performs very well at. I'd not heard the Beam before, my other Sonos systems centre round a Playbar and an Arc. So as such I can compare against these. Whilst the Beam is good it doesn't quite have the clarity of the Arc or Playbar, voices in particular are not quite as prominent for movies I find. All Sonos products I've come across make use of 'Loudness' this us an old tech really, used to lift in particular lower frequencies at low volume levels so they don't get lost - I think that's a fair description - this is a feature that can be turned off in the app. As someone who comes from an Audiophile retail background my view of the Beam is that it's great product for enhancing your TV audio, particularly for movies, however if you are looking for something to deploy to you're main viewing area, I'd go (at time of writing) for the more expensive Arc and Sub and use either One SLs or the newer speakers on the rear. Sonos equipment lends itself very well to the typical UK home, it's great quality, built well - in my experience so far, reliable, and is my go to choice for audio equipment. It's not quite the same as having a full size 5.1 speaker setup that might cost many thousands of pounds more, but it does a fantastic job, is less obtrusive and your misses (not wanting to sound sexist here) is less likely to moan about it.

I have a Samsung Q990B soundbar system and listening to music to be honest is not way off. What stand out from most soundbars I had before (Samsung q990b, Bose 900) is the layers you get to hearing from music playback. Sometime I'm surprised some of the little details get brought out but not from other soundbars etc. I'll definitely pair this with Sub Mini though to get more clear base and free up resource for mid and highs from soundbar itself. For movie watching, it's not bad for a soundbar that does not have dedicated high channels. You get some levels of high from the side speakers bouncing off the wall etc and Atmos is punchy on sound affects and clear on Dialogs. The sound stage is where it stands out the most compared to other soundbars I've listens to.Here's the catch: Maybe it's just for my use case (LG C3 + beam Gen2 connected to eARC + 2.4G WiFi enabled for AirPlay 2) whenever I switched back from 5.1 or Atmos (mostly movie watching) and 7.1 PCM (from console gaming) to 2.1 stereo watching YouTube, I get constant dropouts every 3-5s for around 200ms or so. I tried everything I can think of but the ultimate trick is to either set my TV to stereo instead of Passthrough (at the cost of sound quality for 2.1 PCM) or just do a restart of TV... this is very annoying and only happens when I switch from higher level of sound channels to YT 2.1. Could be comparability issue with LGs but not so sure. That's the reason I've taken 1 star off from this review.

Outstanding with pair of era100 and sub mini.
2 November 2023

I purchased the set: beam 2, 2 of era 100 + sub mini. While I own a full size 9.1.4 system with high end electronics separates with Dirac live calibration, I wanted something similar for a living room for a 55" tv. The key points of a good ht system for me are that it removes the walls of the room and provides a natural detailed sound. I tried Sennheiser Ambeo plus and Max, and Sonos Arc stand alone soundbars. In my living room I had zero surround sound from them, just a soundstage in front around the tv. The voices did not sound likable to me. From the reviews I got an idea that Beam 2 has occupationally natural and refined sound. I can confirm this - unlike the above bars, I like it. Note: I would recommend to install Beam 2 so that it would be solid still, a bit 0.5-1" above the surface. I used some large slides that are used to move furniture, positioned under the feet's ( important for balance). I am very much impressed with this set, truly! It removes the walls and gives me the full effect of Dolby Atmos positioned on 34" high Sanus stands, after calibration. The sub is completely adequate to me for my living room. Also, when I played DTS Master Blu ray Serenity, the Sonos app showed that it is PCM Stereo, but I still had more than adequate surround sound from this set somehow. Easily to setup and my power cables are completely hidden under the sofa. I like the white color version. All extremely nice looking and even the surrounds on white Sanus stands do not look like alien items in a living room - outstanding design job. Very highly recommended as a set. Era 100s do an outstanding surround job with its dual twitter firing in different directions. All my ht system is in a square 3x3 meters. The bar alone is not enough at all. For music it is ok, I suppose, unless you know how an audiophile stereo system can sound.

This speaker replaced a Samsung NT-400 and the difference is night and day. The Samsung was better than the TV speakers on a Sony 4K TV but failed to differentiate the range of sounds and thus sounded muddy. With this speaker you can get much closer to the experience intended by the sound engineers who worked on the audio to which you are listening. As a standalone it cannot capture surround sound like a multi-speaker system but one feels that nothing is missed in the tiny details. The Sonos room tuning is a huge advantage for getting the sound adjusted just right for your listening position and this features is really outstanding and a good use of the advanced microprocessors driving the audio processing for this speaker. Dialogue is very easy to hear and does not get lost although the volume still requires some adjustment when there is gunfire and other loud noises and you do not want to disturb other people. Maybe I need to learn more about Night Mode because I did not see it in the Sonos app. Overall Grade A for what it is and even better I imagine with additional Sonos speakers. It is not as good as two low-end bookshelf speakers for music but might be better with a sub-woofer. Highly recommended for small to medium size spaces.

I bought this Sonos Beam and replaced an Yamaha ATS-1080 with it. It’s a legitimate upgrade that offers superior sound quality. One of the issues I had with my Yamaha was hearing dialogue when other things were on like an AC unit Dishwasher etc. And I couldn’t get it loud enough without disrupting my neighbors on the other side of the wall. When you increase the sound for dialogue, you increase everything like Bass etc. The dialogue frequency is far greater on this Beam and I can get it the right level without it being disruptive.I’ve read comments about less than impressive bass sound. And more than enough sound for a one or two bedroom living unit.I went with Sonos because I really look at Sonos and Bose as the top two and everyone else below. I bought my Dad a Bose because it came with a remote and he doesn’t like using his smartphone. With Sonos it doesn’t come with remote, everything is done on the phone. So got him Bose, purchased my first Sonos unit and am enjoying it. The only other negative about this unit is you can turn it off. It remains on all the time. The constant power and smart phone use didn’t bother me

[Rewarded Review] My feedback on Sonos bars - both Ray and Beam
16 January 2024

I love my Sonos bars - (BEAMS). they most certainly make a huge difference in the quality of the sound and also allow for adjusting the treble/base balance. However, I have had some issues which have resulted in frustration, what I believe to have been an unnecessary expenditure of time by your installers at substantial expense to me. 1. I was initially sold the Sonos Ray bars which did not work properly with my tvs - which are smart tvs. I had to continually go into settings to try to adjust the audio output to come from the sonos bar itself. Sometimes it worked - sometimes it didnt; when it did work - it often did not hold very long. I was told this is just how it has to work. Wifi provider routers do not necessarily split 2.4g and 5g so sonos bar (BEAM) does NOT operate properly - wifi providers apparently have the ability to adjust the delivery of wifi to split the signal but for example Spectrum won't. Options are that a cable is used connecting router to sonos bar - which establishes a 2.4g connection to the Sonos bar and all bars at the location. Works like a charm. Installers say that many clients don't wish to have wires exposed. This makes the job of the installers tedius and time consuimg and often frustrates everyone. If something is worked out - it often seems to be aok but actually does compromise optimal usage of sonos bar which will impact client satisfaction with bar. A nest system would apparently solve the problem as well but would be an additional expense. Sales people should know this in advance - inform customers so that they are prepared for work arounds that may be needed and techs can far more efficiently do their job and ensure customer satisfaction with both the installation and the product that was sold to them.

[Rewarded Review] Sonos Beam 2,Era 100,Mini Sub System

System installed in an open area family room adjacent to a kitchen and nook area. Family Room 20’x16’.Essentially, plug in, follow intuitive app install instructions & learn the easy to follow instructions to play the system from the TV E-Arc connection & your favorite streaming app. Immersive, high end audio experience.Buy bigger & more expensive if you want to. I took the minimalist approach for the white decor, size & decor. The appearance & audio experience not only met my expectations, but far exceeded them.I tried the Era 300 for the room size. The speaker footprint looked out of place and the audio was overkill for what I wanted for this room.Of Note:I use the Era 100 as surround sound speakers. You can adjust the audio level for music and TV in the surround audio setting. Go to the sound section for all the audio settings & have at it to your liking.Lots of questions about the Beam E-Arc cable to the TV (me: LGC1 65ā€) cutting out the use of Bluetooth headphones (For me: AirPod Max) connected to the TV.My solution: from the Beam, connect the male end of the hdmi cable, not to the E-Arc port of the TV, but to a 2nd hdmi cable that is female on one end and male on the other. Get the length of your choice.Plug the male end into the TV E-Arc port. I taped the cord mid level on the back left side of the TV with plenty of length & slack on the female end.Insert the beam male end into the female end and subsequently received immediate Sonos Beam connectivity using the TV & music app. With the TV in the off position, I reach around inchesto the rear left side of the TV, pull on the connected hdmi cords & disconnect them. The cords remain within inches of each other for later reconnection. With the E-Arc cable unplugged, the TV resorts to its audio and bluetooth settings. This allows me to watch movies after hours, using the bluetooth headphones. After movie watching, I turn off the TV, take 10 seconds to reconnect the cables and I’m back online with the Sonos system.Remember, it’s TV E-Arc enabled devices sending audio over an hdmi cable to home theatre sound systems (ie Sonos systems.)Hope this is helpful for someone out there.

[Rewarded Review] Sonos Has Taken Over and We Ain't Mad About It
6 August 2023

After a couple of years of being on the fence about whether to take the plunge on this mostly highly regarded soundbar, a proper open-box find made the expense far less difficult to swallow and, viola! Brought it home, hooked it up (easy-peasy), paired our two Play: 1 speakers as satellites, and did the Trueplay dial-in and, dang! Who needs a sub!?The amount of sound and the depth, range, dimension of sound from movies now is amazing.I've heard some surround sound set-ups before and they do sound pretty wild, this is somehow different. More intimate. This isn't our first time with a soundbar/sub set-up. In fact, we've had three different soundbar/sub setups over the past few years and they were ok. More intimate. This isn't our first time with a soundbar/sub set-up. In fact, we've had three different soundbar/sub setups over the past few years and they were ok. Much better than the tv speakers but only just. Now, small sounds emerge from the left or the right, causing me or my wife some uncertainty thinking the sound is something other than the movie. Honestly, neither of us are that experienced with this multi-speaker set up.However, it has grown on us to the point where we are less likely to think a murderer is in the house now.The turning point for my wife was an afternoon when she was at home by herself (me and the boys out on a weekend getaway) and she dialed up some music and sat and read while tunes bathed her in sonic comfort. She officially became a fan.I, a long-time two channel audio cat, am sold on what the Beam and the two satellite speakers do with movies. It's made watching movies - even movies we've seen many times - more exciting and fun.The music side is pleasant enough - more for the convenience than the actual audio quality. It's faithfulness to audio, or rather, enhancement of song and sound, is a wee bit much for me but I take a sip and relax and get over it.So, in short, after a few more Sonos acquisitions, our house has now become a full-fledged Sonos-fueled house and we are glad about it.Except for my office which is still two-channel British hifi only, thank you.Bravo, Sonos! Your stuff is pricey but, I ain't gonna lie, it's sexy.
