Astaxanthin, a member of the carotenoid family, is a powerful antioxidant. In vitro research demonstrates that astaxanthin may be up to 4 times stronger than other carotenoids such as lutein, cryptoxanthin, and beta-carotene, and may be up to 85 times stronger than alpha-tocopherol. Astaxanthin possesses both hydrophilic and lipophilic properties, and may provide health benefits throughout the body by modulating the activity of free radicals.AstaReal is a registered trademark of Fuji Chemical Industries Co., Ltd.

These low dose I bought for my dogs, as suggested by holistic medicine, given with a little butter or other fat as required for absorption. Warding against cataracts and age related eye conditions, and Alzheimer's, they're perfect for my older doggy. Keeping inflammation down will help against the possibility of cancer and arthritis... so many conditions. Also this brand has good reviews quality-wise, and I gave five stars as no negative side effects at all seen.

Good quality astaxanthin. 2 mg is the lowest dosage I could find, since I don't want too much of it. only fish need so much, since it tends to accumulate in the skin.It is an important antioxidant ingredient with many benefits, it helps negate the effects of a bad diet.. it has improvement for energy production, the skin and eyes. doesn't taste like anthing. size of capsule is average.

I'm not a scientist, but it always zinc plus Vitamin C something like that. So, I feel maybe we need 1-5mg of zinc when take this. Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor.

I was pleased that it arrived very quickly. Pills are a bit larger than I anticipated given the dosage, but no issues in swallowing. I like that it's made with extra virgin olive oil and not other types of oils that can be inflammatory. I've had uncomfortable reactions to other astaxanthin products at a higher dosage and so far this one seems to be well tolerated. Some minor GI adjustment in the first few days, but not a big deal. I find this helps my eye sight and is great overall antioxidant. Looking forward to the benefits and will likely purchase again.
Each softgel contains 12 mg of astaxanthin, which is a relatively high dose. This concentration allows for the potential to experience the benefits of astaxanthin without the need for multiple softgels. Source Naturals uses natural astaxanthin derived from microalgae, ensuring a high-quality and environmentally sustainable source of this powerful antioxidant.
Firstly I'd like to note that this product uses AstaReal, made in Sweden. If you look at the videos, this seems to be the Astaxanthin source to aim for.Secondly, I need to say that this supplement is very stimulating, at first it was fine although after I went through approximately 2 mg x 180 softgels (the product I'm reviewing contains 2 mg x 120), then it became borderline over-stimulating. I could not tolerate caffeine very well any longer and I felt an aversion to stimulating products in general, like ginseng and others. I had a certain 'lifted up' feeling like when I was walking outside I felt like my body's internal processes somewhere were simply on overdrive, so it felt like I would suddenly start levitating or that my sense of spatial perception was a bit ... MoreFirstly I'd like to note that this product uses AstaReal, made in Sweden. I had a certain 'lifted up' feeling like when I was walking outside I felt like my body's internal processes somewhere were simply on overdrive, so it felt like I would suddenly start levitating or that my sense of spatial perception was a bit too tense. On the plus side I can definitely commit to consistent, intense mental tasks for longer without any feeling after a few hours of "Ok I'm too tired now", this let me continue for longer. Another effect is when I was jogging I felt more at ease, like it was easier, in this area perhaps I am in line with the scientific studies done on cyclists.Overall it seems like a healthy product in extended use which seems to make mental and physical exertion easier, although for me I find it has over-stimulatory negatives which make me feel "lifted up", which really take a long time to dissipate, at first I could handle 3 capsules in a single day and feel fine, although these days I am cautious with even 1.
Astaxanthin is fed to farmed salmon which are bred in 'swimming pools' without any access to natural algae, crayfish & so on. The 'swimming pool farmers' noticed that salmons without astaxanthin became lethargic. The theory is that if a human is similar to a salmon... then this works. That theory is a bit wild as there's around 600 million years divergence since the common ancestor of a fish and a human..I would like to view a MICROSCOPE analysis of 2mg astaxanthin per day fed to X HUMAN tissue for 1 or 2 years compared to the same tissue without astaxanthin, like " this lung tissue is much stronger, healther... and looks different in the microscope " Etc. Etc. (something like that) which is only theory. Etc. (something like that) which is only theory. Personally, I broke these astaxanthin capsules in a bathroom sink to investigate, and well... it's like an extremely potent red dye, if you get it on your hand no amount of soap will remove it, and your hand will be a pinkish color for several days. One thing you can do is apply astaxanthin to i.e. the left side of your face, skipping the right side, to check if it affects your skin. Hmm.. well it's an interesting algae, anyway. Personally I prefer the 'look' of zeaxanthin, so now I'm trying zeaxanthin instead. The molecule of zeaxanthin is like a very long & straight 'skyscraper', so based on how the molecule ** L00KS ** then zeaxanthin seems like something which may fit in human body tissues.4 stars based on that I don't know if this did anything or not.
