It is very soft and provides a lot of protection against impact and worked well with the compression and impact resistance in the heel.The ankle support is great for a low top shoe. I've had Lebron's in the past and I've had some issues with the ankle protection. My arches felt comfortable and cushioned in these sneakers. I normally purchase high arch inserts for my sneakers on the recommendation of my podiatrist for running but these provide as much, if not more support than my usual inserts.
