Spag Bog. I knew, as soon as I saw what product I was going to be testing, that this meal was going to be very difficult to rate. Why? Because this has been one of my favourite "go to" meals for years and years. I made it A LOT when the kids were growing up, throughout the years with my partner and now for myself. It's cheap, easy to make, filling and tastes fantastic. Having said all that, I was pleasantly surprised with the flavour of this meal. It's a quick and easy meal for those on the go BUT I'm afraid it's not something I would buy. The flavours were far too subtle for my taste budds and there was far too much water floating around the bottom after heating. I also think that the price they sell for is far too expensive. I only have a food budget of around $25pw so I definitely wouldn't be spending a quarter of that on 1 meal when, for just a few dollars more, I could prepare 4 or more similar size meals AND flavour it to my own tastes. Sorry, but this meal was a big NO for me.

Top Pre Made Spag Bol. Bought these for the bargain price of $3. 60, normally you would pay $6. 80 but when I snapped these up on the 16th April I put them straight in the freezer for a quick meal for Mrand I. Has 65% Australian ingredients, I wish it was more but at least it's over 50%. Australian beef is used and a full bodied Australian Red Wine, for a bought meal it tasted the bomb. I had to be quick as Mr was eyeing my meal off, the smell was amazing. Easy instructions to follow from frozen, for a very satisfying evening meal. I did zap it for 1 1/2 minutes more, stirred and then zapped for another 1. 20 minutes. Everything nice and hot, pasta was cooked properly with not hard dry bits. Very happy to serve this up. Cheers all.

Delicious Pasta. The family was eager to try this product and it didn't disappoint. I found it with all the other pre cooked meals in the refrigerated section. Attractive and stand out packaging. The plastic film came off easily After heating in the microwave for 2. 5 mins and resting for 1min, out came a delicious al dente pasta smothered with heaps of rich tasting bolognese sauce. Long use by date and it's suitable to freeze, which is good. Made in Australia from 65% Australian ingredients. The cost is $6. 50 for 350g. Not an item I would go out and buy all the time but the kids loved it and if anytime I needed a quick express dinner for one or two people, would definitely consider this. Thanks Bunch for giving me the opportunity to try yet another new item I ... MoreDelicious Pasta. The family was eager to try this product and it didn't disappoint. Delicious and easy Dinner. I have tried this range of Woolworths dinners before and I generally think they are a good deal especially if you can get them on sale or marked down. For $6 it was very tasty with a rich bolognaise sauce with plenty of flavour and the spaghetti was a good texture as well. (Not soft or mushy at all) I added parmesan because thats how I prefer it but it did taste perfectly fine without it as well. Obviously it would be cheaper to make yourself but this really is a good alternative when you dont have the time. I liked that it was Australian made with a decent amount of Australian ingredients as well as having totally recyclable packaging to make it sustainable. Not bad for frozen food. Found this easily in the ready-made meals section. Appealing packaging and the picture on the label is actually representative of the product. Followed the instructions on the back of the box and food was steamy and read to be eaten *drools*. Compared to other ready-made meals, I would say this one is above average. The spaghetti wasn't soggy and the dish had flavour (not bland). I wouldn't say it is al dente as the packaging claims. It would have been good if there was more beef to go with the pasta and maybe even some vegetables. 3. 5 health star rating, which is okay for a core meal. My only complaints about this product is that the size of the meal needs to be bigger and also the product is on the expensive side (given the size).

Pretty Good quick meal option! My kids tell me that I make an amazeballs Spaghetti Bolognaise. I assume that means it’s pretty good! :-)This one wasn’t bad either, and certainly much easier to prepare than my home made option, and without aall the clean up! Lots of perfectly cooked spaghetti, a rich flavoursome sauce and overall a perfect size for a quick lunch. I found the sauce traditional, thick and had a great texture and flavour overall. Certainly very filling and well enjoyed. There is a frozen version which is about half the price of this one, which I prefer simply for the convenience of being able to leave it in the freezer for a considerable time for those rainy days, but this one tastes better. Definitely a great meal option and I would happily purchase again.

Bolognesey. I was a little hesitant to try this one after the last pasta ready-made mail I tasted was not the best. But we need to go into these tastings with an open mind, so that being said, I popped it into the microwave and waited until it was ready. While waiting, I read the packaging and was happy to see Australian products and nutritional numbers looked pretty good. Once the meal was ready, I took the plastic cover off quite easily (big tick) and the smell that arose was very enticing. After adding some cracked pepper, the moment of truth had arrived. With some trepidation, I raised the fork, with a good ratio of pasta and sauce to my mouth and took the plunge. Happy to say, I was immediately surprised at how well the pasta was cooked and the richness of the sauce. After a few more bites, I was quite satisfied at the different flavours that I could taste in the sauce, nice and tomatoey, a hint of garlic and the wine to finish that off. The serving size was a little small but still satisfied my hunger well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a decent bolognese and may not have time to cook one. Very handy to have in the fridge or freezer. The loss of a star is due to the packaging. We need to find ways of reducing plastic given how popular these ready-made meals are becoming.

Pleasantly surprised, quick, easy & tasty. I found this sample in the meat section with the pre prepared meals. It has a 3. 5 HSR, made in Australia from at least 65% Australian ingredients. It had a USB of 8th February 2022. The price is $6. 50 or on special 2 for $12. This product can be put in the freezer within the use by date and once frozen, should be consumed within 1 month (very handy). I'd never heard of NISIN before so I looked it up. WIKIPEDIA - "Nisin is a polycyclic antibacterial peptide produced by the bacterium Lactococcus lactis that is used as a food preservative. It has 34 amino acid residues, including the uncommon amino acids lanthionine (Lan), methyllanthionine (MeLan), didehydroalanine (Dha), and didehydroaminobutyric acid (Dhb). "Browsing other articles about Nisin (known as E234), I learnt that whilst most think it safe, there are others that think it may have negative health effects. - Keep refrigerated and use within 24 hours of opening- Can be frozen for max. one monthGeneral:- Easily found in the store refrigerator- Easily opened and heated. I heated it longer than specified as my microwave is very old. - The flavouring of the sauce was not what I expected. It was unusual. At first I thought there was too much garlic but then that initial garlic flavour seemed to fade as I continued to eat. The taste was strange but all I can liken it to it the taste of plastic... which isn't what I really want to say. I don't know what the flavour was. It is supposed to be red wine (1. 5%) It wasn't totally unpleasant but it wasn't what I wanted it to be. The fact there was so much of the sauce, it was hard to get away from it. Perhaps a larger sized portion of the pasta would have mellowed the sauce taste a little. - Ratios: There was too much sauce for the amount of pasta and as the sauce was quite strong, I found the whole dish too rich. I'd have definitely added more pasta if I'd had some cooked and ready. - The pasta was a good texture and had been cooked wellOverall: Pasta is so cheap to buy that it is hard to justify paying $6. 50 for this dish. I guess it comes down to convenience and the fact the serving size was generous. If I had enjoyed it, then I could give this a thumbs up, but there was too much of the unusual tasting sauce. I wouldn't buy again.

Saucy Spag Bol. Found in the fresh meals section, the meal had a generous BB but can also be frozen for longer storage. Quick and easy to heat up. The film peels off easily to reveal a large pool of Bolognese sauce covering the spaghetti noodles. With mince mixed throughout, the sauce has a rich (and slightly acidic) tomato and wine taste. The specks of onion and herbs give a hint of sweetness and garlic, and the Parmesan adds some thickness to the sauce. The spaghetti was perfectly tender and the ratio was good- slightly more sauce than pasta so you can't complain the noodles were dry. A comforting meal, the medium portion size makes this more of a lunch option when on special 2 for $12. Minimum 65% Australian ingredients seems low for such a simple dish.
