Growing up anytime I heard the word spam I would think yuck.. gross . I never tried it . But it was just 1 of those things I thought was gross and wanted nothing to do with lol.. fast forward to last year my boyfriend made me eggs and spam. He fried the spam to where it was crispy. I decided what the heck and tried spam..omg..amazing! What have I been missing this whole time?! It tasted like ham or bacon . It's a great substitute for bacon plus a little cheaper! My kids also love it and it's a great breakfast food!

This stuff is good, I think I like the Spam bacon better than the others. The only thing I don't like about this product is that it has a lot of sodium in it. There is 6 servings per can and 520mg of sodium. It also has 40mg of cholesterol. So I wouldn't recommend eating this stuff every day. This stuff goes so good with eggs and toast for breakfast. You can eat it cold but it's so much better heated up. I cook it on high heat to get it good and brown and crispy. It taste kinda like your eating bacon and ham combined. It also taste good as a BLT. There is so many recipes you could add this to. Just like the commercial says sizzle pork and MMM.

I can bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan without all the grease splatters. Yes, it is Spam in a can without the crisp, but, you can tuck this bacon-flavored Spam in the back of the cupboard to quickly and easily add the must-have bacon taste to a casserole, scrambled eggs or top a baked potato.
Env: developmentA lot of people are scared of SPAM, they don't know what it means, its kind of a unique texture and taste for people who didn't grow up with it and it comes in a can that almost last forevers so I can see the hesitation. However SPAM is amazing, its a whole category of meat to me.Spam tastes like a more flavorful ham and is so diverse in what you can do with it. You can slice it into sandwiches, chop it up into pieces and put it into pasta, make sushi with it, eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its also fairly expensive its about 2-3.50$ a can, it has a long shelf life, you can keep it as long as any canned good which is remarkably longer than most meats. Once open you can even keep it in the fridge for sometime before it goes bad. ... MoreEnv: developmentA lot of people are scared of SPAM, they don't know what it means, its kind of a unique texture and taste for people who didn't grow up with it and it comes in a can that almost last forevers so I can see the hesitation. Sometimes even a few weeks, once it starts to smell funny thats when its past its prime.I recommend spam to everyone, theres no reason to be scared of it. No one knows what its really made of but its delicious.Env: development
I like this stuff. You can whip up a quick bkfst! I like to dice it up in home fries. Only gripe is, you can't get it shipped. Not even if you buy a dozen, which I would gladly do!!
I know a lot of people make fun of or shun Spam. They are the uninformed in my opinion. Slice it up and nuke (microwave) it or throw it in a frying pan a few minutes and season it more with your favorite spices or sauces and it can be amazing. Bacon Spam is what I've been craving; I mean what could not be good with bacon?!?
it's a lot better than the spam! It's not salty and the taste is better. But I am a bacon fan and I don't know if it's a good substitute nutrition wise but it is a good variation. Hope this helps!
When I lived in San Diego I always laughed when I saw Spam on a menu. Canned meat? Served in a restaurant? Because there is a huge Hawaiian presence in the Southern California region a lot of places that serve plate lunches there offer Spam. The first time I had a grilled Spam sandwich I was blown away with the taste of it; I expected it to taste rubbery or have an extremely salty taste but it was a lot better than I expected. Now there are tons of different flavors of Spam to choose from but for grilling or making a pan-fried sandwich, the original flavor is the best one to use. This isn't the healthiest thing to eat on a regular basis because of the amount of sodium in it. A two ounce serving has 760 milligrams of sodium which is almost one third of what you should be consuming per day. Two ounces of Spam isn't a lot so it's extremely easy to exceed the recommended serving amount. A two ounce serving contains 170 calories, 15 grams of fat, 760 milligrams of sodium, 2 grams of carbohydrates and 7 grams of protein. When we tailgate I always grab a couple of the larger cans of Spam to grill; the taste is amazing and it makes for a nice change of pace from burgers. You need to thick-slice it to prevent it from breaking into pieces while grilling it and it really helps to have the grill as hot as possible so that it doesn't stick.
Okay, not a "bad" product, but not what I expected from SPAM. The mix from original is more fat, a lot less meat taste, and added bacon fat to the higher concentration of original fat to meat ratio. No bacon chunks/piece, just bacon fat. Because of this, I can't eat it right out of the can, and requires this product to be fried and thinly sliced, like 1/16 to 1/ 8 of an inch. Any thicker and middle part is "squishy" fat. I was thinking perhaps maybe to slice really thin, like paper thin (freeze for like 15 to 20 minutes before slicing), and deep fry it to get a completely crisp product and crumble on eggs or whatnot. It does have a flavor of being fried in bacon fat, but not the meaty taste of regular SPAM. In this regard, it get a 3 star rating.
