I absolutely love SPAM. It is a very diverse product that I do not think ever expires. I have opened a can that was expired more than 2 years old and it still tasted great. This version is less salty than the original. I like the SPAM goop is less in this version compared to original. I personally like the goop on a bowl of hot rice. The color is slightly different than original, but the taste in my opinion is the same. This is a food item that is from my childhood. It is good eaten right out of the can, but better if seared in a pan. THis is great as breakfast with eggs. Great in lunch as sandwich or with bowl of rice. I have made stew and sushi. PRO: cost, long shelf life

Decent taste- but still salty to me. Too costly .

For canned meat product-- it is not bad! PLUS it has a bit less salt and also less fat calories- so less grease in the skillet when you cook it! Very similar to regular SPAM in taste-- but lower overall fat damage to your body. I'll but it again-- if I get a coupon or see a sale. The $2.92 for just 12 oz is high for this level of nutritional value. Use your money to buy even leaner meat products-- with less chemical preservatives! Long shelf life means it is full of chemicals you might not want to eat often.

Decent for a canned ham. Whatever they grind in there must be ground up good...because there's no chunks or hard pieces as in other brands. Didn't notice much of a difference between this Lite Spam and regular Spam. I like to have a few cans on hand and there's no reason not to. This stuff lasts forever.

Makes great ham salad
14 October 2022

I make my mother’s recipe of ham salad with Lite Spam. I grate it. Tried with regular ground ham and it wasn’t as good. I add boiled eggs, chopped dill pickles, chopped salad olives, chopped onions, mayonnaise,

Pleasantly Surprised
25 April 2020

I hadn't eaten Spam in many, many, many years. I wanted some backup meat for my pantry, so I came looking for some. The classic version was sold out, so I ordered some of this. One of the cans was dented and I could tell by the smell of fresh Spam that it was no longer sealed. I decided to risk tasting it rather than chance letting it sit on a shelf and be SURE it spoiled. Fortunately, it was still good -- and tastes even better than my memory of classic Spam, right out of the can. My memory of the taste of Spam (usually just pan fried) wasn't too positive, so I1 was pleasantly surprised. i had to stop myself from eating the whole can at one sitting, in thin slices. The biggest killers are carbs. (When did the "Food Pyramid" come out? When did people start becoming diabetic in massive numbers? Several years later, after the results of following the high-grain diet advice had time to take its full effect? Coincidence? Highly doubtful.) Of course, the carbs are almost nonexistent in this, too.I will be buying more of this.

Spam "Lite"
7 June 2023

I generally cook with fresh meats and vegetables, but I have found this to be a good product to have handy in the cupboard, when I'm in a hurry and don't have anything fresh on hand. This one is not nearly as salty or greasy as the regular spam. Pan fried it makes a good stir fry with rice and vegetables

Spam Lite

The only difference I saw between this and regular Spam was the lower sodium content; I found regular Spam to be a little salty so I tried this. It's great for air frying and it's a good substitute for ham to have on hand for a quick meal. I prefer it sliced, air-fried, and served with eggs and hash browns or on a toasted English muffin.

Texture is a little different / tastes alright
16 May 2023

It's Spam. Its texture isn't as flaky as Reduced Sodium Spam, and I was just curious about this variant. The texture is firm in comparisonThis is alright. It might work really well sliced into cubes. It seems balanced differently than the other varieties, and the ingredient list is the same as regular Spam.

Try it, you’ll like it
2 July 2019

I bought this for two reasons. One, we are currently faced with the possibility of rolling power outages that could last for days in California, and two, spam is delicious. I prefer it sliced thin and fried, but in the event of a natural disaster, the apocalypse, space aliens landing, or any other imaginable emergency, we could always eat it out of the can. It does not need refrigeration, so it will keep for years, and it is an excellent source of protein. Walmart is the only place where I can get as many cans as I want of spam lite, as my supermarket is unpredictable in what spam it stocks. If you haven’t tried this, you might be surprised at how good it is, in a sandwich or with eggs.
