I purchased these to wear with my low back wedding dress. They're currently my back up because I think they'll be a little too high and I'm suspicious of the waist band. It has that "I might roll down in 5 hours feeling". I really like the panel in the front, it's very flattering and takes care of the "can everyone see my belly button?" issue. These are almost twice the price of the Spanx Power Short for a reason, the quality is much higher. Even if i don't wear them for my wedding, I'm keeping them to wear with other items. The legs on the shorts have a nice taper and I'm confident will not bunch after hours of wear. I'm an aging athlete with an hourglass shape and I wear a 10/12 pant. I bought a size large and felt it was perfect.

This is my second pair having bought them in black and loving them. I’m a size 14 hip and got the Medium, they are very tight but that’s what I want. They lift and tighten my bum so I feel I can now wear skin skimming and jersey skirts I would never have looked at before- I have so much more wardrobe choice now! They are thin around the leg, so more delicate but to me that’s better and more natural- just have to take care when putting on. They tighten up the tummy area too, they don’t roll up at the thigh like my other branded ones did so just delighted all round.

Love Spanx in general. The Power Short Mid Thigh Shaper is a firm control short. It does the job without being bulky. Comfortable. It can cause "muffin top", so if you have that issue depending on what you are wearing, you need to use the Spanx Higher Power short that ends up under your bust line and not at your waist. (or another shaper product that covers your midsection) I am short-waisted so this product rolls a tiny bit at the waist, but with skirts and pants, it isn't bad and everything does that on me because I'm am short-waisted. I wanted something that could allow for a smooth and seamless look under a tight dress or skirt, specifically my wedding dress. Unfortunately, the top waistband rolls down and settles into my natural waist, no matter how I place it. If place the very top of the waistband exactly at my waistline, it pinches in uncomfortably and creates an awkward and unnatural looking exaggerated groove --? indent? -- around my waist. I am more hourglass shaped, with a defined waistline, so it makes sense that the material would settle there, but I had thought the short would be designed specifically to avoid this problem. I am still planning on keeping the short to experiment with wearing in combination with a longline bra / it'll cost me more to return than the price of the shorts ... I checked reviews which were generally positive and mentioned they didn’t roll down at waist. But no, they did. I’m a size 12 and have a belly of course but I trusted similar reviews but to no avail. The material is lovely and the thigh part is thicker and more a typical shape wear material. The top is mesh but not thin and cheap, it was super strong when I was stretching every single way to get them on! I can tell they’re great quality but they’re clearly not made for certain body shapes as they wouldn’t sit on my wait belly or hips. The non roll grip thing they mention having is more of just a typical waist line, nothing special and actually more irritating than anything. Shame as I really like them otherwise
I ordered several waist and thigh control underwear for comparison as I needed some compression shapewear for surgery. I struggled to get these over my thighs, let alone over my backside. They are less firm that some other brands as were more stretchy but weren't suitable for what I needed them for. I would recommend ordering 2 sizes up.

If you're needing to hide those love handles and tummy pudge, these Spanx did not quite smooth out those areas as much as I had hoped. I've heard you have to sometimes double up on the Spanx or perhaps I needed more of a full body pair of Spanx? I'm 5'4", 124 lbs, petite frame, with a pear shaped body. I thought these mid thigh shorts would do the deed, but definitely try them on before purchasing to see if they give you the support and smoothness you desire. I was a little disappointed, but that is my own fault for not trying before buying. I felt comfortable in these Spanx shorts and didn't feel constricted. Also, you could not detect these under the body hugging sequined gown that I wore, so that was a plus. I purchased a pair in nude.
I was dubious of buying the power short as they are a thinner material to the Spanx slim cognito that I love. These feel more like tights. Wow! Was I surprised at how good they are. I am a UK 22-24 with a biiiiiiig fupa! These shorts worked better than the slim cognito!!!! They smoothed out my belly and thighs without smooshing my bum. They are super soft and comfortable. The only downside is that they don’t have the open gusset that makes it so much easier to go to the bathroom without having to take everything off! That being said, I am very impressed with these shorts. I also like that it comes in more shades. The chestnut colour matches my skin tone which is also a big plus!!!!
Works well to smooth your shape but the waist band rolls down. For the pricing, this should not be the case. I bought a oair years ago that did the same thing. I thought by now they would have improved the waist band. Creates an uncomfortable area that you constantly have to pull at.Defeats the purpose of wearing them.
