Got a pair of these to go with my sound bar and powered subwoofer. My local Best Buy had these on display. But not attached to any system. Decided to give them a chance. Since I was burnt out on cranking my tv's volume to high as it would go. And only hear a whisper. These guys definitely filled in that sound gap I was missing. The price was decent enough not to break the bank. Completely satisfied.

They sound amazing and have become a great addition to to the rest of my surround system. I've invited friends over to check them out and have had nothing but outstanding reviews from all of them. They have excellent clarity which is a serious must for me. Im also running them with a polk psw10 sub and together there's no distortion in the bass at all. I would definitely recommend them.

Using these with Yamaha R-N803 receiver in my man cave and they sound very clean and alive at low to moderate volume levels. They would be tough small tower speakers to beat for this price. You'll need a subwoofer if you want loud and punchy bass, but these are great for all around listening. Quality seems to be decent, no apparent flaws.

Bought as a gift to upgrade the sound of a TV. After around 6 hours of break in, the sound is excellent for front stage use. The radiators emit enough bass to use without a subwoofer. If you require a lot of rumble from music or movies, then a subwoofer will add a generous amount of low end. The XT70 will most likely give you more presence in a large room with the extra midrange, but for an average sized home theater or living room, these are sufficient. They are well worth the cost, and if you can catch them on sale, do not hesitate to pick up a pair.
Very good speakers for the price. Together with a new AVR, they replaced my 20+ year-old Sony SAVA-D900 system, which finally broke down altogether. All I want is decent sound for my television and occasional music, and these speakers do just that, even without a subwoofer.
Review for Polk Monitor XT60-Floor Speakers. After playing every genre of music at a normal volume (loud), jazz, classic rock, classical in High Res, and with my subwoofer turned OFF, sound quality is exceptional from these 2 XT60 speakers.Bass is deep, highs are clear, crisp and definitive. Streaming music in Lossless, Dolby Atmos and 5.1 Dolby Surround from Apple Music, it’s a treat to the ears.Even with the subwoofer turned OFF, Lossless, Dolby Atmos and Dolby 5.1 Music, bass is deep, and with a good punch.Audio from movies and TV are just as clean and concise regardless of audio formats. For now, and until I move to another apartment, the T50s are getting a well deserved rest in my closet. After which, I’ll use them for rear surround.I strongly recommend the Polk Monitor XT60s. And by the way, the XT60s are without a doubt... High Res.
So much punch for their size. I moved some speakers around so these were replacing our S60s. I am so impressed with the full sound and bass that these speakers offer. After running tests with the: 4K blu ray player, Roku, Amazon firestick and tv streaming, I am still just as impressed with the high quality sound at any volume level or amp setting. Audiophiliacs will be more than impressed.
Just had a chance to compare them with Polk's own ES55 side-by-side - speakers that are almost twice the price. These are great budget speakers, but they do have a few shortcomings, that's why the 4 stars. Unless you're on a tight budget, you'd be better off with ES50 for a little more or ES55 for 2x more.Compared to the ES55s, the XT60s have a somewhat lower sensitivity, so you'd have to crank the amp a little higher to get the same volume. This means a bit more harmonic distortion in most cases. XT60s sound a notch warmer compared to ES55s, kind of similar to some mid-range Warfedales. Still detailed and undistorted highs, with a bit more emphasis on the mid-range. To me this is a minor advantage of the XT60s - they're less tiring to listen to, however you can ... This means a bit more harmonic distortion in most cases. XT60s sound a notch warmer compared to ES55s, kind of similar to some mid-range Warfedales. Still detailed and undistorted highs, with a bit more emphasis on the mid-range. To me this is a minor advantage of the XT60s - they're less tiring to listen to, however you can achieve the same with ES55s by turning the trebles down by 1-2dB. This way the highs were indistinguishable, at least to my somewhat oldish ears.Bass is also decent. For music you really don't need a sub, especially at lower volumes. But this is where the shortcomings start to come through. Unlike the ES series, which are ported, the Monitor series are closed box with one or two woofers and two passive radiators. When you crank the volume up, the port of the ES series relieves the internal pressure quite effectively. With the closed box design of the Monitor series, the only thing that compensates the increase in pressure when the woofer's membrane is sucked in is the radiators' membranes coming out by the same amount, essentially keeping the overall volume of the speaker constant. The problem is that radiators will oscillate on their own like springs, which would create an acoustic wave that would be interfering with the next cycle of the woofer. As a consequence, the lows sound harsher on the XT60 compared to the smooth, soft bass of the ES55. It is by no means bad, don't get me wrong here, it's just not as good. I also felt that clarity around the crossover frequency suffers a bit in the XT60 compared to the ES55.Another point - the Monitor series, being budget speakers, look a bit like budget speakers, compared to Signature Elite. This wouldn't matter as much with bookshelf speakers, but the towers do become focal points in the interior. This is where Signature Elite wins hands down - they're just outright beautiful.XT60s a noticeably smaller than ES55s, both footprint and height. When space is constrained, this might become a factor in favor of XT60, aside from the price difference.I will be returning XT60s and keeping ES55s, mostly for the last two points above. But if price is a concern, you'd not be disappointed with XT60s, especially if you get them on sale, they're a fantastic deal. ES55 is better, but it's not 2x better, let's put it this way.Another note, I have not listened to XT70, but considering that it has two woofers for the same two passive radiators, I'd expect that the bass would be louder and extending lower in frequencies, but more distorted, exactly for the reason I described above.
I recently bought a pair of XT60s from Best Buy, let me say this. Wow. I stream Hi-Res music daily, and the sound from these speakers is fantastic. I've been using Polk T50s for my two front speakers for a couple of years, and now I moved them to rear surround with the XT60s up front. The highs are much more defined without having to reduce bass. A big plus. With 5.1 surround tracks, even better. Glad I bought these speakers. At $149.00 each, well worth it.
I have been using the sony core speakers with a denon avr for a few months now and wanted to upgrade my front channels to something with a better soundstage (better bass/mid bass) while maintaining a good high fidelity sound signature as the sscs5 provided. The sscs3 are notoriously bad in comparison to their little brother and now after having these XT60s hooked up for a day I believe these are the budget floorstanding speakers to beat! If you can get them on sale (136 as i did or the 180 they've been showing up for as well) they will not dissapoint! Retail. Perhaps go for the jbl stage a180 or something else.Overall, these things are awesome! All i have is the sscs5 to compare to for left and right main channels and those are rated all over the internet as being ...
