Our cherry tree decided to send a root under some paving and also a brick wall, it was quickly apparent that only a mattock would do the job. Read the reviews on this one and headed to Bunnings to check it out. I was a little sceptical given the low price, but this is indeed an old school tool with a heavy wooden handle and solid steel head. Got the job done and looks like it'll last for years.

It does the job! Dug out Palm roots fairly easily with this.

Great heavy duty product and just what o needed
Lasted 2 years and the handle broke. Bunnings doesn't stock replacement handles.When writing this review I see it has a 10 year warranty - that would be worth it. Sadly I threw the broken handle in the bin. Still looking for a replacement. Large eye handle sold at bunnings was returned.
Yeah good, I like a timber handle, most others fibreglass, just something I like, no holding wood jokes
Love the longer handle. Made short work of the area I had to clear and the tree stumps I dug out. Very impressed!
Bought this Mattock to get rid of thick palm like grass "plants" that a brand new shovel wasn't going to do anything.. A 5lbs head with cutter end and extremely thick and durable handle.. made this ardous job, almost a joy... I highly recommend this spear and Jackson mattock for tree roots, blackberrys or any other job that requires a little more elbow grease.. absolute cracker!
Good value for money. feels sturdy when using, with solid handle but not overly heavy.
