Full disclosure: I only ride S-Works bikes, or top of line Specialized, e.g. the P.3 dirt jumper.Full disclosure: I only run Red eTap AXS.I built-up a 1X eTap version of the SL7... the meanest and best looking bike I've ever owned. I ride S-Works FS and hardtail MTB machines... Diverge gravel monsters... fatbikes... DJs... whatever... the Tarmac SL7 1X is the most responsive extension of my body I've ever experienced.I am 56 years old... I taught myself to ride and have ridden most of those years.Note: I descend on the S-Works Diverge as if on rails... faster than the SL7 even. But, when it comes to out-of-saddle André Greipel-like sprinting, the SL7 connection to Tarmac owns the day.

I purchased this bike from Roy’s Sheepshead Cycle back when supply was basically nonexistent. They built it up to my exact specifications and I couldn’t be happier with the final product. The bike feels fantastic to ride. On the flats, it’s quick, but on the climbs it’s even better. The shifting is out of this world. I’ve never had the chain drop once out of thousands of miles ridden, and both the front and rear derailers shift almost instantaneously. The handlebars feel great and allow you to ride for hours on in without any unwanted pains, and their adjustability is also fantastic. I switched out my handlebars and stem to a more aerodynamic option and now I feel like I can fly on the flats. As a lighter rider, I usually get pushed around in headwinds but I’ve yet ... MoreI purchased this bike from Roy’s Sheepshead Cycle back when supply was basically nonexistent. Had the bike for about 13 months and its been raced about 25 times.Pros; Very stiff frame. Looks beautiful in the white. Rival works extremely well when it worksCons; Overpriced for the spec. Essentially you still have to fork out for racing wheels after spending $5500. Obviously I knew that before purchasing but still….Sram rival front derrailleur stopped working after 7 months . under warranty but bike has to be off the road for 2 weeks minimum while its being fixed so its still unfixed. After about 8 months the front fork turned a much darker creamy color. Clearly the frame and fork finishes are different. Doesn’t slow the bike down but still very annoying after buying a so called high end bike. now it has a two tone look and not nearly as pretty. Not as light ... MoreHad the bike for about 13 months and its been raced about 25 times.Pros; Very stiff frame. I both the bicycle on the site and shipped to the bicycle shop. The process to order the bicycle was relatively easy. If you never built a bike or don't have the time..., well, that is the best way to do it plus you warrantee to receive a dialed-in bicycle.. The bicycle is sexy, the bicycle is fast, and responsive when you apply power to the pedals.I upgraded from a 2017 allez spring 49cm on a shimano 105 to the SL7 comp. The electronic shifting is crisp and easy to adapt to. If you wonder about the weight, the total weight with the assioma duo power meter and “S- works bottle cages was 8.49 Kg. Currently waiting on my Roval C38 wheels on tubeless. She will look even better.
I feel very fortunate to have gotten this bike, in the midst of a cycling industry tornado. I’m not entirely impressed with the wheels chosen for the comp trim, as they are an insult to this bike. They literally slow the bike down. Unfortunately, Shimano groupset allocation is a nightmare, so I suspect RIVAL + alloy hoops is all that could be done. Personally I would have much rather preferred Ultegra + C38’s at this price point. Which, is still $1,000 more than I paid for a Tarmac Expert in 2018. It is what it is. Note to consumers, unless you’re prepared to do a frame up assembly, DO NOT have these bikes shipped to your home. Have it sent to your local bike shop. Specialized techs are putting in minimal effort, as my first attempt in a new bike this year (’22 Allez Sprint), was delivered needing approximately $300 in service just to be ridden. I sent that bike back, and was ready to concede no new bike this year… then magically the SL7 Comp appeared on line the following week. Rest is history.
Wrestled with myself for a while about buying this. Had just come back from a knee op but decided to reward myself and so glad I did. This bike is a nimble little weapon. The electronic shifting is amazing and so much better than mechanical. I researched the difference between SRAM or shimano electronic groupsets beforehand and was worried the etap AXS would feel laggy. I needed have worried and the response is instant. The bike is a little heavy than I expected – the 56 I bought comes in at 8kg with pedals and bottle cages on. This includes GP5000 and the PZero inner tubes so can’t cut much more weight without spending loads on wheels. Despite this weight I’ve sent numerous PBs on my local runs without really trying so the bike obviously makes up for it in ... MoreWrestled with myself for a while about buying this. Sigma were brilliant from beginning to end and Johnathan especially was super helpful.
Stay away from this specific release, and for future purchases. Make sure the bearings are replaceable.Started to hear roaring from the rear wheel, normal wear and tear. I began to take apart the rotor and cassette and BEHOLD - smooth interior with weird notches, totally unserviceable. I contacted the store who sold the bike to me and they have readily replaceable entire HUB bodies - the price? Service charge alone was enough to get you ceramic bearings. Plus the part - just get a new wheel! So every time my bearings have a slight movement, I have to replace the entire hub? The brick and mortar store gets to charge a hefty service fee to remove the spokes (essentially rebuilding the wheel), and specialized gets to sell these parts to bike stores? No thanks!Definitely a tactic to keep our environment filled with parts, and the pockets of the industry deeper.Great bike, but truly - such a shame.
Excellent bike, Excellent wheelset, fast stable on downhills with a group or solo. Purchased the difficult to get S-Works in Black 44cm model from Boris at Roy's Sheepshead Cycle. They were the only ones that were able to get the bike within days and had it flawlessly assembled. Highly recommend the shop. After the bike purchase I even upgraded with them to the new Shimano DI2 12 speed. Again they did not disappoint with obtaining the parts and installation. Give Boris a call if you need a whole bike or just parts. 718-648-1440
I rode my new SL7 on the glorious roads of Spain. In all terrain and with a few very windy days, my respect and admiration for the class of the bike grew. My mileage has been longer over six consecutive days, and the comfort was beyond anything previously, includjng my previous S Works. The Shimano Di2 has completely convinced me that the whole package forms the perfect bike and any reluctance to invest £8000 has been quickly dispelled. Sublime. Addictive.
I've owned the SL7 Tarmac Comp for 4 months now and in that time covered roughly 1000 km including a 2 week trip to Mallorca. My sales consultant at Sigma recommended to upgrade the wheels to Roval CL50's with Schwalbe Pro One tan tyres and the bars to Viper Aero carbon, although it was a significant extra cost, this was an excellent decision and the bike looks stunning because of it, Sigma were great at building this all for me. The bike is a real head turner and attracts a lot of attention, it's must be one of the best looking out there. The SRAM e-shifters are superb and going back to mechanical now feels so old fashioned. The gear range is excellent and I haven't yet ran out of gears, even climbing Sa Calobra. The gear range is excellent and I haven't yet ran out of gears, even climbing Sa Calobra. People mention the weight being a little on the heavy side but it's not something i have noticed, in fact I can't help but smash old hill climbing PB's. Looking forward to spinning away many more hours on this excellent bike.
