I have been a customer of Sperry for over 50 years. About 10 years ago, I had a pair of Billfisher shoes. They were great. I recently bought a 2nd pair of Billfisher shoes. They were the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn. I threw them away. I will never buy another pair of Sperry shoes. All you get is the name. Quality control does not exist, especially since Sperry stopped making the shoes in the USA and instead chose profit over quality by having its shoes made in third world countries. Terrible shoes!!

Bought the Billfish a few weeks ago because I liked one color options. The size is right but the width runs much more narrow than advertised. Their "D" is much closer to a "C" or "B" width. Rather than go the hassle of returning them, I made the mistake that shoe trees and wearing them would help relax the leather. Bottom line: Even if you have narrow feet, get the wide size and after 3 pairs of different Sperry shoes, I'm done with the brand. There are better quality boat shoes on the market.

Think I qualify as an expert on Billfish shoes as I have seven pair and have been wearing Sperry boat shoes for more than sixty years. My Billfish collection ranges from "already should have been thrown away" to new in the box. These are my go to, every day, year round shoe. I always have a pair in waiting! My latest pair are the blue ones and they look great. Will go well with jeans, chinos, and shorts. The blue leather is more polished then the tan Billfish shoes and they look more like Gold Cups. My all time favorites are the Plushwave Billfish. Have two pair, all leather, and much lighter than regular Billfish. These seem to be no longer available, but I will buy them if they are. They wear like iron and the soles have not gotten hard and slick like some of my ... MoreThink I qualify as an expert on Billfish shoes as I have seven pair and have been wearing Sperry boat shoes for more than sixty years. I have them all, wear them every day - they are the best.

I'll start with, they're great looking, and their quality seems first class. However, let me qualify the following by admitting I have odd feet. I'm a size 12 regular, but I usually order a size 13 regular because they're slightly wider. I initially ordered these Sperry's as a size 13 regular, but they were way too narrow. Fortunately, I was able to return these and get the wider versions of the same shoe. I'm still experimenting with ways to try and make these more comfortable by trying various combinations of the original insoles, adding some custom orthotics, or trying some off-the-shelf orthotics I just ordered. Their comfort is improving, but my feet aren't yet 100% comfortable. I'm puzzled because other brands' 13 regulars work just fine right out of the box.
I have had three pairs of the Sperry Billfish shoe that I wear everyday. My most recent pair, that I purchased 2 months before this review has left blisters on my feet. They have a different cut and the insert pulls out each time i take them off. The quality is clearly not up to Sperry standards. I also have a pair of the Gold Cup 2 eye ASV that have been great shoes. I've had them for about 6 years and want to replace them but from the photos, they are not the same. It looks like they don't have a reinforced heel counter, which makes them easier to slip on. Reading other reviews, I'm afraid to purchase another pair of them
Medium width fits MUCH narrower than previous Sperry boat shoes or any other manufacturer’s size 12M shoe. Great looking shoe but deceptive design in terms of interior footbed cushioning. AppeRs much more cushioned than it is, basically the same as any other Sperry boat shoe, which is very little cushioning. Bottom line is great looking shoe that you need a wide width of you usually wear medium width, and may need to add a cushioning insole because this shoe is NOT well cushioned.
I have been wearing Sperry Billfish shoes for almost 30 years and recently bought my fourth pair. These will have to be returned. The medium fit is more narrow than previous pairs marked the same size. The firm/hard arch support digs like a ridge into the sole of my feet. Will try a wide version before giving up but that is not the only problem with these shoes. The thick leather insole in the old shoes that used to mold to your feet has been changed to thin leather lining stitched to a rubbery insole. The edge of the rubber came with a fold that digs into the edge of my heel. The finish on leather outer seems more superficial, less durable.
I recently purchased a pair of these shoes. Over all the shoes are of typical Sperry good quality, but the pair I received had not been fully assembled. The inner blue lining over the sole was not attached to the shoe, so whenever I removed the shoes, the lining came partially out of the shoes. The lining should have been glued to the shoes but it was not. I was going to return the shoes as defective, but ended up gluing them myself, which seems to have solved the problem. Sperry needs to do a better job of inspecting shoes before they're shipped to customers.
The shoes they were replacing were Bill Fish that lasted over ten years. Outstanding quality they were 10 1/2 wide .The new ones I received At first glance the leather was much thinner all around the size was also a 10 1/2 wide I have worn them a few times and they are very narrow and tight. I was hoping that they would stretch out but hasn't happened as of yet. I suppose I should have ordered the x wide who knew. Overall the quality has sure gone down over the years very disappointed
I've had at least 4 pair of these shoes over the last decade or so. They used to be super comfortable, loved the insoles, they've always looked great, and I knew what to expect from them. The quality of the insole went down years ago. But now the contouring of the outsole has also taken a hit. Instead of flaring the top edge of the outsole to contour to the arch and basic shape of the footbed, it's now just formed vertical which ends up digging into the arches of my feet and making the arch portion of the shoe too narrow. I'm now sending back my second new pair of these shoes because the outsole edges dig into my arches through the side of the shoe. Also, both pair I received had insole issues under the heel of one foot (right foot on first pair, left foot on second ... MoreI've had at least 4 pair of these shoes over the last decade or so. So now that I've established that the width issue wasn't just a fluke bad pair, I have to say goodbye to the Billfish. (No use getting a wider shoe, the toe box is fine and the vamp fits just right.) It was a good run while it lasted. I hate to see Sperry's manufacturing standards take such a nose dive. I've never put on a pair of shoes with such an awkward fit.
