Durable and quick to put up

We have now tested this fabulous tent in some hectic conditions and it has come out full marks. After purchasing, we test set up the tent in our yard as we knew it was about to rain and we wanted to check how waterproof it was. The rain ended up being heavier, and going longer than expected, with our yard getting a couple of cm of sitting water on top. The tent stayed totally dry and we were able to sit under the awning comfortably without getting wet. The pack up was super simple and fit easily into the cover again. We knew we had a winner. We then took it camping for a couple of days for its first proper test of comfort and enjoyed how much light and heat it blocked out in the middle of summer, letting us sleep late and enjoy our break. We could feel the squishy mud under the floor, but none of the moister got into the tent. What a dream for those long festival days!We have now perfected putting up the tent and can vouch for the 2-minute set-up time. The pro tip is, if you have two people, get one person to hold up the center hub while the other clicks out the poles. I could not be more in love with this tent. Would I marry it? Maybe. If it asked nicely.

Fantastic tent! I love it!

I'm really impressed with this tent. I'm 60 and found it really easy to put up. I needed help getting the cover over the top, but in a camping ground, people are so helpful. It rained all night and not a drop of water came in. I had the window awnings pegged out so the breeze came in but not the rain. Good feature. Inside, I had a double mattress, small folding table inside with room to move and get changed. The shade awning at the front was just big enough to provide shelter.Thank you to Ross 'The Boss' at Port Macquarie for helping me make this choice. He was so helpful.

Bought this 4 months ago.Have taken it camping a few times in summer and winter.A positive experience in the warmer weather. Tent kept relatively cool. Dark room made for easy sleeping.Went camping this weekend. Light to moderate rain started to develop throughout the evening. Prepared for bed time. Rain seeped through the fly and onto the tent. Walked into a wet tent with wet bedding. Really disappointing.

Great tent
2 September 2022

Took this camping over Easter, tent was so easy and quick to put up me and my husband where amazed. The black out feature was so nice and dark in the morning. We have a queen sized air bed and the kids both have double this basically filled the whole area, leaving space tight for bags and kitchen items ect, so would really think one Queen and maybe a double bed max. Had no bad weather so can’t say, but seemed well made and sturdy. I spent ages researching quick frame block out tents, and this one won by far for price. Definitely recommend for light camping.

Purchased yesterday online and went to pick up this morning. Click and collect was nice and easy as always at my local. Was advised by staff member that the tent didn't come in any box or anything. I can see why some have complained about the tent carry bag being thin and ripping if it is being delivered to you. Made sure to ask that it was brand new and not used. Was cable tied up also.Went home and unpacked it straight away as i wanted to check for holes as well as any zipper or pole issues based on other reviews. No issues here however the poles could have been thicker but only time will tell. Also, wanted to try and put it up myself to see how easy or hard it would be. Fairly straight forward, started with clicking the back 3 poles into position and then i popped the outer fly over the tent before continuing to click in the remaining 3 poles. It is a fairly tall tent so throwing the fly over after clicking the poles would have been harder and require 2 people. I would say it would take around 10 minutes to put up casually by myself including pegging.Very happy with the Dark Room. Can't wait to take it out camping soon.

Not terrible but spend more if you can
13 March 2023

I have just bought this tent and only set it up in the yard as a test run. Its setup was very simple to do on my own. Everything was as expected until pack up time. I have already noticed 2 small holes. One in the roof and one in the floor. I also had the same problem that other reviewers mentioned where there is a lot of pressure on the tent when folded due to the legs poking into the tent material. I found a work around to this problem. If you unhook the clips at the end of the legs before folding it will relieve a lot of the tension when folded. Just have to remember to clip them back in when before unfolding the next time. I’ll attach a photo. I’ll pick up a tent repair kit for the holes but I recommend spending a bit extra and go for the similar Coleman version.

Poor design, cheap materials
5 February 2022

When I set the tent up for the first time I found that the folding legs of the frame had pinched through the fabric of the protective sleeve as well as the tent material itself, causing holes in the material. This had occurred on two sides of the tent. There were also two holes in the floor of the tent (tent was unused and set up on soft grass so definitely not caused during set up!). Luckily I was able to get a refund on the tent, but I urge buyers to beware because I have seen other reviews with the same issue, so it may be a flaw in the design or the protective sleeve isn’t made from thick enough material. On a positive note the tent was very fast to set up! However it was difficult to pack up/fold up as there were no decent instructions on how to do this. ... MoreWhen I set the tent up for the first time I found that the folding legs of the frame had pinched through the fabric of the protective sleeve as well as the tent material itself, causing holes in the material. Save your money

Bought this tent 2 months ago. Waited 4 weeks to setup for the 1st time. First mistake. Setup tent and one of the legs would not lock in under tension. Took it back to shop. Told tent was ok and the leg was twisted and that's why the lock would not work. 4 weeks later setup tent and noticed 3 patches of holes in inner tent and when packing tent up holes in floor of tent. There is also a 28 day return and refund policy. So be aware and if you do buy this tent set it up within the 28 day period.

Super happy with my first tent.

This is the first tent I've ever purchased. I've been watching/helping my friends set up their tents with the traditional poles for years, and although always a good laugh doing it with a group, it still means less time hiking or sitting by the fire with some food and beverages. My first experience with the Spinifex Mawson Eclipse 8, I arrived at Lake Eildon a few hours before everyone else. I had that tent set up on my own in about 10 minutes, fly on, pegged to the ground, mattress in, while eating some crisps and singing to music. It's so simple.Inside, the first night it was four of us, comfortably spread eagle. With two partitions, a queen mattress in each, the girls had a place to get changed while being able to stand up. When closed, it's so dark that you don't realise the sun has risen and it's the next morning until you unzip the door. The front awning was super useful to place our chairs and table under while we explored in the rain.Packup was simple. Although it'd be faster having two people for the process, once I got home and needed to clean it out and let it dry, I had set up and packed down on my own without complaint. All that I'd like to point out for a select person, it is awkwardly heavy if carrying alone, and will take up space in your vehicle. Neither were an issue for me, but some of my friends did point those details out. I'd absolutely recommend this tent to a beginner, or seasonal camper.

Wouldnt buy again.

Purchased this tent, came home and set it up in the backyard. The screws holding the legs to the centre piece has rounded/damaged screws. Not sure why, either a defect or used/returned that someone else had tried to rectify an issue. Bought it back to the store, staff were great and it was replaced with no issues. Didnt bother checking the second one i got which was my mistake. Got to camp, set it up, and noticed the tents proportions were off. When fully set up one side was so out that the hooks holding the tent to the frame would not reach the frame. I had to use cable ties to hold tye materialto the frame on one side. Eventually got sick of it, duct taped it to get through the night.Would definately recommend paying a little extra and going for a coleman.
