I've never played a Splatoon game before, but this game has captivated me and I will probably go back to play the first two.As other people have mentioned, Switch Online sucks and I feel like this franchise is held back on Nintendo platforms because there isn't an option to voice chat with your teammates at all despite the game encouraging team based strategy and you are constantly getting connrction issues. The worst part is if you're in a room with your friends that room is gone and you have to invite all your friends and make a new one. This is absolutely egregious so as much as I love the game I am going to dock it a star.Aside from that though the multiplayer is great! I havent had any major issues once I am in a match unlike Smash Bros that lags constantly. Turf War is fun and unique and there are so many other fun multiplayer game modes to try, including Salmon Run in which you fight off hordes of big fish to harvest their eggs. Aside from a lot of multiplayer content the story mode is quite fun.I highly recommend this game! Here's hoping that Nintendo improves their online service.

Splatoon 3 is a fantastic game, they really improved many things from Splatoon 2. Only real issues I have with the game is the online, there's always disconnections. Not sure if this is due to the game on Nintendo's side of things or the connections of the players you're playing with, but it's a big issue. Also, the fact that we basically have no choice to choose Tricolor Turf War, the option is there in Splatfests, but that really doesn't matter since the game will give you whatever mode it feels like it. I hate the illusion of choice. I hope that gets fixed.Tableturf Battle also needs online play with friends. That mode is really cool and yet you can't do that. But outside of those things, it's a really fun game and I highly recommend it if you are looking for ... MoreSplatoon 3 is a fantastic game, they really improved many things from Splatoon 2. I’ve been playing Splatoon since the first release on the Wii U, so I may be a bit biased, but this is one of the best, if not the best franchise I have ever kept up to date with. Although I wasn’t impressed with Splatoon 2’s base game, with pvp’s specials being lackluster and the campaign being more or less the same as 1’s, 3’s campaign has thoroughly impressed me with its sheer uniqueness, creativity, and challenge. The pvp, though certainly not polished since it’s only been about a month since released, feels wonderfully chaotic with the newly included specials, cutting no corners when it comes to each one’s design. My only huge issue with it right now is Nintendo Online’s servers, which will give you proper matchmaking and prevent random disconnects maybe around ... MoreI’ve been playing Splatoon since the first release on the Wii U, so I may be a bit biased, but this is one of the best, if not the best franchise I have ever kept up to date with. That is certainly not the game’s fault, and this will get better once Nintendo finds out they don’t have to power servers with a potato. All in all a fantastic game. I thought I wouldn’t get back into Splatoon and I put those days behind me, but, here I am, thoroughly obsessed once again.

Splatoon 3 WOULD be a 5-star game if not for one factor: The frequent encounters with hackers and exploit-abusers in the PvP modes. I can only hope this issue will be solved at some point because it really ruins the fun for everyone (and hinders our level progression, etc) but considering how severe Splatoon 2's hacking problem still is after being out for YEARS, I'm not holding my breath. That said, there's still a LOT of other things to enjoy in Splatoon3! From the single-player story mode to the frantic co-op mode "Salmon Run" (back from Splatoon 2 with new twists, and now available to play 24/7), not to mention the excellent new card/puzzle mini-game "Tableturf Battles". I'm always in the mood for SOME part of the Splatoon experience. If Nintendo could fix all the exploits and drop the ban hammer on a large number of unscrupulous players, this might even be GotY.
Basically, a much more polished and refined take on Splatoon 2's base format!- I liked the singleplayer hero mode a lot more (it takes after the Octo Expansion dlc rather than the mainline mode in Splatoon 2, which is a noteworthy upgrade).- Significantly more unlockable options for customization! As well as increased ease of playing with friends (without having to coordinate when they're online).- Salmon run has a lot more options to unlock and progress modes, and the emergency mode is fun to play.- And finally, it's fun to play and talk about with my online and international friends! Getting to vc and play together during Splatfests has been a blast.I'd recommend this to anybody who liked/considered Splatoon 2, and wants a more active multiplayer mode, ... MoreBasically, a much more polished and refined take on Splatoon 2's base format!- I liked the singleplayer hero mode a lot more (it takes after the Octo Expansion dlc rather than the mainline mode in Splatoon 2, which is a noteworthy upgrade).- Significantly more unlockable options for customization! Overall Splatoon 3 is a really fun game that many will enjoy but it doesn't do enough to improve. The game plays exactly the same as the previous game and includes many of the same maps and game modes. They did however add 2 new weapon types, a new mode called tableturf, made the announcement optional, and 24 hour salmon run. These are some welcome changes but tableturf is a card game that is it's own thing. Tableturf is fun to play and I think many will enjoy it but it I can see it being avoided by most players. It plays sort of like tetris and that you are placing blocks except you can place them anywhere on the board. The objective is to have more of you blocks taking over the "turf" at the end of the match. The objective is to have more of you blocks taking over the "turf" at the end of the match. It's a fun side distraction, but most will gravitate towards the lobby. The campaign feels like the Octo expansion and is enjoyable but these feel more like little side missions than anything else. There is no real story here and it serves more as aguide to get you acustomed to how to play Splatoon. It would have been nice if Spaltoon 3 allowed you to change weapons mid map or at least while in the lobby, but oonce you select you loadout, there is no way to change it unless you quit the lobby and re-enter. Unfortunate that this is still the case. Many can argue that there was no need for this release since everthing it included could have simply been updated as there isn't enough content here to justify a sequel. I have to agree with this statement. All in all, this is a very good game and if you enjoyed Splatoon 2 then you'll enjoy this one as well.
I pre-order this game and did receive my free Splatoon 3 keychain! It's a bit smaller than I imagined, but it still looks great. At first, I wasn't sure how much new stuff they would add to Splatoon 3, especially since Splatoon 2 was released on the same console. Splatoon 3 has made some good improvements from Splatoon 2.More Customization:They've added more customization options for your Inkling or Octoling characters. New hairstyles, new clothes, etc. Of course, there are some returning hairstyles and clothing.Speaking of clothes. Not only can you customize what abilities you want for those 3 slots, but now you can also change the main ability as well. You can customize your locker with stickers, change the color of the locker, add in items such as weapons, clothes, knick knacks, etc.New Weapons and Specials:There are 2 new class weapons. The Splatana and the 3-string bow. There a new specials that are exclusive to Splatoon 3 and a few returning specials from Splatoon 2. The weapons are better balanced than it was in Splatoon 2.New Tableturf Mode:They added a brand new mode called Tableturf. It's a card game. It's a bit weird at first, but it's actually kinda fun. You're basically playing Turf War, but in card game form. There are brand new maps and returning maps but the returning maps have been altered for a bettling online experience. One returning map is Maui Maui Resort from the first Splatoon game. It's been revamped quite a bit that I didn't even recognized at first. But overall, it looks much better. Of course, Nintendo plans on brining more maps in the future.Better Salmon Run:Salmon Run is better, too. Instead of waiting for it to become available at certain times, you can now go into Salmon Run at ANY time. Plus, there a couple of new maps for Salmon Run, and one returning map. New salmonid bosses. And most importantly, you can now throw the salmon eggs! This is a BIG game changer. You couldn't do this in Splatoon 2. You can either throw the eggs into the basket or throw them to your teammates that are closer to the basket. Also, they've added a new Xtra Wave mode (when you fill up a meter) to face King Cohozuna - which is a brand new huge salmonid boss.We also have 3 brand new idols that give out the news and when the next map rotations are. Their names are Shiver, Frye, and Big Man! They are great! During the game, you do get to know them better - which makes me like them even more.Splatfest:Splatfests make a return as well. This time around, when you're walking around Splatsville with the Splatfest theme, they really make it feel like an actual festival. More so than the other previous Splatoon games. So, now we have 3 different teams. They also introduce a brand new mode for Splatfest. A Tri-color Turf War! Depending who's taking the lead during Splatfest, the other two teams will battle the winning team in this 3-way tricolor turf war.Big Run:There's another new special event called Big Run that's coming soon to Splatoon 3. It's a new event where the Salmonids invade the turf war maps and you have to defeat them.Turf Mode & Anarchy Mode:Turf War is basically just inking the whole map. Anarchy Battle has a few different modes.New Abilities:Splatoon 3 has added two new abilities that your Inkling or Octoling can do. Squid Roll and Squid Jump. Squid Roll is when you swimming forward, but if you flick the control stick the opposite way and while pressing down the B button, it will cause your character to Squid Roll and it also acts as a parry attack. Squid Jump is when you are swimming up a wall, press and hold ZR button and then let go once your character gives a flash indicator to let go of the button. Your character will quickly swim up the wall and jump up in the air.Rainmaker, Tower Control, Splat Zones, and Claim Blitz. These modes also received some improvements as well. With Rainmaker there are checkpoints - which is very helpful. Claim Blitz - you only need to collect 8 claim shells instead of 10 - which is very helpful because you would collect so many claims only to lack 1 or 2. So, I say that's an improvement. The cool thing about playing online is that they've changed how people respawn. Every player has their own spawning point that is placed high into the air. This is good considering how in Splatoon 1 & 2 you would have people camping around your base. Not to mention, there's only 1 respawn point. But in Splatoon 3, they've changed that.Story Mode:This mode is basically teaching you the basics of how to play the game. It took what was great about Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion DLC and applied it here. Which works really well. The story has an interesting plot twist and has a cool final boss. There are some people thinking that this is Splatoon 2.5 and that there isn't enough brand new content to justify this 3rd sequel. That it could have been just updated with Splatoon 2. I don't completely agree with this statement. but I do understand their concerns. If I were to guess, it's probably because that Splatoon 3 has been released on the same console and that it was released 5 years later. It's so weird because it doesn't feel like it's been 5 years since Splatoon 2. To them, it probably feels like Splatoon 3 was released too soon.As for me, I felt like they did make enough changes to justify the 3rd sequel. After playing it since September, I think it's a better experience, they made a whole lot of improvements that was lacking in Splatoon 2.Technical Issues:During the release of this game, there were some technical issues. Most of them were ironed out. but there are still a few bugs. Most of it is online disconnections. Nintendo is continuing to update the game to make it better. This also happened with the launch of Splatoon 2 until they were fixed. This is the minor gripe I have with the game, but I still enjoy the game.Overall, I would still recommend this game because it's a fun game to play by yourself or with friends. Whether if you're new to the series or just wanted to know if it was worth it. I say it's worth it.

right off the bat i want to make it clear i love this game. i’m a big splatoon fan and i’ve played it a LOT since launch. gameplay across all modes is a step up from splatoon 2, so many quality of life changes, soundtrack is awesome, tons of stuff to collect, and i found the single player campaign to be fun and intriguing.HOWEVER there are definitely a few turn offs currently. connection errors are quite frequent and make starting a match demand a lot of patience. sometimes you’ll play without issue, but other times you’ll have to try and join a lobby several times before it actually works and you get into a match. matches mostly run smoothly once you’re in, but every once in a while there will be a random disconnection or some lag. so yeah, until that gets fixed, ... Moreright off the bat i want to make it clear i love this game. i’m a big splatoon fan and i’ve played it a LOT since launch. gameplay across all modes is a step up from splatoon 2, so many quality of life changes, soundtrack is awesome, tons of stuff to collect, and i found the single player campaign to be fun and intriguing.HOWEVER there are definitely a few turn offs currently. connection errors are quite frequent and make starting a match demand a lot of patience. sometimes you’ll play without issue, but other times you’ll have to try and join a lobby several times before it actually works and you get into a match. matches mostly run smoothly once you’re in, but every once in a while there will be a random disconnection or some lag. so yeah, until that gets fixed, you’ll need to have some drive to play the game. also it does feel a little lacking in stages and weapons. there are 12 multiplayer stages, including 4 from splatoon 2. if you’ve played that game, you might get a bit bored of playing those same stages over and over. there are plenty of weapons, but not a ton of options within each weapon class. but more stages and weapons are coming so it’s not bad for now. there should be large updates every 3 months for 2 years, with each one looking to include 2 maps, a new catalog of goodies to collect, and an unknown number of weapons. so the game will get much better on every issue i mentioned. i imagine it would take quite some time to get burnt out on the stages/weapons though. and if you don’t play the game a ton then the connection errors might not get on your nerves so fast.basically, great game with some turn offs that might be a big deal to casual players who aren’t sold on the game by now. if you have splatoon 2 already, maybe consider waiting a few months or more for 3. i’d hate for anyone to get permanently turned off from the game because some launch issues may sour the experience (which is otherwise fantastic).
ok so we all know switch games can be pricy and then also be bad but MAN this game is good. to get it out the way, if your having connection errors, thats you internet bro not the game. anyways i have been playing splatoon since it was on the wii u in like 2015 and i have always loved this game. its so colurfull, chill, exiting it can be anything you want and thats why i love it. so many wepons and customization and you can play with friends and all and the community is so nice and if your good at it there is competitive. also any age can play this game and still have a great time, a 5 year old can be as exited as a 35 year old playing this game. that means you can play with your kids because its kid friendly. basicly there are 2 sides of this game, story mode and ... Moreok so we all know switch games can be pricy and then also be bad but MAN this game is good. to get it out the way, if your having connection errors, thats you internet bro not the game. anyways i have been playing splatoon since it was on the wii u in like 2015 and i have always loved this game. its so colurfull, chill, exiting it can be anything you want and thats why i love it. so many wepons and customization and you can play with friends and all and the community is so nice and if your good at it there is competitive. also any age can play this game and still have a great time, a 5 year old can be as exited as a 35 year old playing this game. that means you can play with your kids because its kid friendly. basicly there are 2 sides of this game, story mode and online. story mode is super fun and exiting and brings singleplayer to another level with fun bosses and levels. on the other hand if you have nintendo switch online the online modes are awsome. first you have turf war, 4v4 3 minutes of chaos where you need to put as much of your teams colour paint everywhere and once 3 minutes is up whoever has the most paint on the map wins. you can use wepons to rather help the team by spraying paint or splatting the other players. whats awsome about that is it means you can suck at the game and still help your team, skill level dosent matter in turf war. then there is competitive where there is payload and objectives where you need to rank up by winning games and stuff. you do need to be good and level 10 to enjoy competitive, so probably try that when you know ur ready. then the other gamemode is salmon run. salmon run is where you and your team need to kill these things and get these balls and put them in your basket. honestly you should search that one up because i dont even know how to explain it but its great fun. and then there is private matches where you and your friends can mess around. this is also good if you are a popular streamer because then you can fight your viewers. when you play these gamemodes you level up and you can buy cool clothing, wepons and design a locker you have. you can make your own name and a banner and like a cool tag. for example yours can be: "fresh dude BobPlays192" with like a sunset looking banner, so lots of customization. you can also put a post up, because in the main loby random splatoon playing will be there (different everytime) so if a player walks past you they can see your drawings and stuff (nintendo makes sure to check so that nothing inappropriate shows up. and yeah thats splatoon 3! great fun would reccomend. if you read this entire review that took me ages then i also reccomend watching trailers about the game and stuff. anyways have a good day and enjoy splatoon 3! :D
