This game is very fun and enjoyable. It stays true to its original game and perfect for any age group. Having played both the PC and the Switch version, I can't give this 5 stars because the graphics for the switch version (especially in docked mode) are really bad comparing to PC, or even any other console based off reviews. It looked a lot like the PS2 game I played ages ago. If graphics aren't too much of a bother for you, the I'd recommend this for the portability factor!

I bought this for my daughter, and honestly I thought it was going to be better than what it was. The controls aren’t user friendly, and the camera is buggy. It definitely could use a update in that area to keep up with the times. Also, was expecting a graphical overhaul, and it was nowhere to be found. Other than that you can swap between characters so that is a bonus, and you get a double jump which is a life saver for any platforming you may do. It’s worth a buy only if you can get it on sale.

The switch version of this game is not too great, shadows pop in and out and the graphic are a little rough around the edges. I would rather pick this game up for PS4. Better yet, play the original on GameCube if you can. This remake was obviously rushed. The cut content from the original game does return, as we were promised, but it was thrown into a decent multiplayer mode. And if you're like most people, you are here for the campaign, not the multiplayer mode. It would have been better if the cut content was added where it was originally planned to be, not just shoved into a multiplayer mode that gets boring after a while. If they REALLY cared about being true to the original, they should have made a version of the game true to the original, and a different mode ... MoreThe switch version of this game is not too great, shadows pop in and out and the graphic are a little rough around the edges. In my opinion, the original game has more of a charm to it. Rather play the original instead. But if you can't, get this game for console, it's still a fun game and for 30 bucks you really can't complain too hard. Wish it wasn't rushed.

Great game from past gen console a few years ago and got a nice remake for current games to play. Difficulty is pretty easy but for obvious reasons as this was meant for younger gamers but still fun for the older gamers too. Now just waiting for Cosmic Shakeup to arrive and I'll have two fun and entertaining Spongebob games to play.
THQ Nordic has brought back a classic spongebob game that's perfect for lovers of spongebob (especially the first few seasons - the golden years). The game itself plays and sounds exactly the same, but the visuals have a big upgrade. The game isn't without bugs, and there are noticable pop-ins pretty frequently. Hopefully they will fix with updates. Yet, it's a welcome dose of oldschool fun as you romp through all the popular corners of Bikini Bottom, with nearly all of the voice cast from the original cartoon (exceptions include Mr. Krabs and Mermaid Man, who both sound rather ridiculous.) Playing as Spongebob, Patrick and Sandy provide some great gameplay variety. Fun game!
So I bought the wrong game....... lmfao my daughter actually wanted the Racing game that has SpongeBob on it.. however she said she'd play this one and actually found it enjoyable. My daughter is 15. It's actually a very vibrant game with funny commentary. A mistake purchase but my daughter is happy with it. :)
This remake is extremely great!! I really wanted to get the shiny edition or f.u.n. edition but they both sold out fast and it was really hard to find the standard edition and I got lucky they had the last copy at best buy because gamestop sold out and they sold out at best buy of course me buying the last copy of this amazing remake. And I wanted to get the last of us two but the person at Best Buy said it sucked very badly due to the story being bad and confusing and said naughty dog forces people to play as one of the new main characters an make you play as a character no one cares about and said the ending had no real ending or reslation and that there were plenty of copies of the last of us left over because no one wanted to buy the last of us two due to the ... MoreThis remake is extremely great!! And he should me on the website they were out of stock online to of this remake and it's a good story set between seasons 2 and 3 of the show and online and offline mutiplayer. And everytime I try to play a online game all the rooms are filled always. I am going to give this great remake a 10/10 the game is really good.
As someone who's grew up watching SpongeBob in the late 2000's, and having a PS2 at the time. Spongebob games on the console have long been a part of my childhood. But none came as close as Battle For Bikini Bottom! Being able to explore the world of Bikini Bottom, and interact with it's wide array of characters & humor that was just as good as it was in the show. It was all just so good! And now that Rehydrated's in the picture, we get to experience that same package again! Only this time, it's been brought up to date with new graphics & improvements over the OG. And it's just as fun! Although...just like with the Spyro Reignited Trilogy...the 3rd game anyways. Certain things for Rehydrated just felt a bit botched when compared to the OG. The multiplayer is okay, at best. It's a good distraction where multiple characters are playable. Definitely nothing spectacular. But with those couple of things aside, this is still a pretty good remake, and I highly recommend picking it up! Especially if your interested in the upcoming, Cosmic Shake. Which is developed by the same team behind Rehydrated.
There was alot of hype for this remake of adventure game from the past. And I really was hoping for an amazing online multiplayer mode. While there is online play, you can only do it with randoms, and NOT your friends...which is baffling. Regardless though, the mulitplayer mode is pretty bare bones, hit detection is awful with deaths feeling very unfair, unlimited lives so it never feels like a challenge, characters severely unbalanced with Squidward and Robo-Plankton can mow enemies down with projectiles while the rest of the roster must use a hard to hit melee attack which often gets you hurt so why would pick anyone else other than the 2 projectile launchers is beyond me. The Story mode though is were the main attraction is. While not as polished as a game like ... MoreThere was alot of hype for this remake of adventure game from the past. The Story mode though is were the main attraction is. While not as polished as a game like Super Mario Odyssey, this is a pretty big game and will bring you that old school 3D platforming nostalgia. All in all, I love the story mode for 1 player. But do not buy this game for the multiplayer mode, even with online play co-op with randoms, it is currently awful. Spongebob Plankton's robotic revenge was so much fun with multiplayer in my opinion.
A lot of people may think that Spongebob Squarepants games are just okay and forgettable, understandable as licensed tie-in games often have lackluster reputations. This game, however, goes beyond that expectation and managed to be one of the finest 3D platformer I have ever played. This game is structured pretty similarly to Mario Sunshine and Banjo-Kazooie as you have to explore multiple different maps and get the collectables such as shiny things, socks, and gold spatula. The main goal throughout the game is to get the gold spatula which can be achieved by exploring the maps and doing various tasks. All the tasks are filled with endless fun and this game will keep you interested throughout the game. All the tasks are filled with endless fun and this game will keep you interested throughout the game. It also gives you the option to play as Spongebob, Patrick, and Sandy. However, you will be mostly playing as Spongebob as it is his game after all. All 3 of these characters are built very differently so it never feel like you're playing as the same characters. It is hard to explain the gameplay in this review but I can assure that the gameplay is excellent and is full of fun. The brilliant thing about this game is how much it pays homage to the show. All the maps are excellent recreation of the locations from the show such as kelp forest, jellyfish fields, sand mountain, Flying Dutchman's Graveyard, Goo Lagoon, and so on. This game makes you feel like you're going through the show. The graphic is pretty great. The scenery is colorful and really matches the aesthetic of the show. With the character models, the characters are very on-model to the show and are expressive. It's quite impressive how detailed Spongebob's expression is in the cutscenes. There are some models that do look a bit weird but it could be that the technology wasn't perfect at the time. Overall, the graphic holds up pretty well in this game. However, there are couple of problems I have with this game. I do not like how all the cutscenes are played without close captioning which can be a big problem for a deaf person like me. It's a shame as the cutscenes are well done and funny. Another thing I don't like is how difficult this game can get at some parts. The Kelp Forest is the worst offender due to its dark color scheme and confusing maps which can be difficult to get through. Good thing is players don't need to clear the entire Kelp Forest to finish the game. There are other examples of difficulty spikes but I won't be stating them in this review. Finally, the music is just downright excellent for this game. Most of the songs in this game is catchy and really captures the tropical feeling, fitting for Spongebob. It also has few songs that will surprise the players with how different it sound like the final level theme. It has short soundtrack but it sure is filled to the brim with quality songs. Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom stands as one of the best 3D platformer I have ever played and it says much for a commercialized licensed game. It presents great graphic, gameplay, musics, and attention to details to the show. This game is a great homage to the show and would be very well enjoyed by every Spongebob fans. I highly recommend this game.
