After I broke my other chuck it I bought the 26m. I failed to realize this thing is like 7 feet long. We normally sit on the porch and smoke outside and toss the ball the my 2 German shepherds. They love to irritate the crap out of you until you throw it. Well as I said it was much longer than I thought. So now my days on sitting on the porch consist of my dodging the stick while my wife tosses the ball. She only manages to throw the ball after knocking everything over in the path of her swing (narrowly missing my face and the porch ceiling) again I realize the 26m was my fault, but at the same time why would they sell a 7 foot long piece of plastic cheaper than the shorter one. However when I decide to take this javelin out to my field it launches the ball further than John elway can throw the football. Have you ever hit a golf ball and struggled to keep sight of the ball? It's like that. When I whip this excalibur around to throw the ball, the whirl wind that follows knocks down the children and trees as well as anything in its wind blast pattern. After releasing, My dogs tear ass and run after the fuzzy ball. I usually dont see them for days afterward, but after when they do come back I usually have to remove the newly printed dogs tags that say "pedro" and "anabella", which were placed there at some point during their journey to the edge of the earth in search for the holy chuckit ball. All and all it's quite impressive, but however this was a bit to large for what I needed.

Bought this for our Lab, who is the quintessential retriever. All other toys were forgotten in less than 30 seconds. One toss of this ball and she was hooked! She would play for hours if we let her. She had the tennis ball in shreds straight off, so we use the rubber balls of the same size. The first thing I taught her was to drop the ball in my hands, or no more play. Works like a charm. 2 cautions: 1. Have plenty of fresh water available; your baby will need to stay hydrated. 2. You must say, "When". Our lab will run/fetch herself until she drops. We must make her rest so there can be a "Next Time". One additional feature/benefit: My husband is a bit disabled, and he can't run for the ball if it's returned out of his arm's reach. The long handle on the launcher makes it easy for him to retrieve from a distance on the deck. I bought the small set (2" ball) for our daughter's baby for Christmas. He loves it as well! You can't go wrong with this toy. We have found no down-side, but only hours of fun for our fur-baby! Enjoy!

Combined with the Max Glow ball, this is the best dog toy available on modern planet Earth. I have a burly 92lb. pit bull mix with highly developed prey drive, and she will chase the glow ball for hours if I let her. The tiny sport launcher (Sport 12M) is the best, because you can still throw the ball really far, but you can also slam the ball down a few feet away from yourself so it bounces up in the air and your dog has to jump to catch it, or you can throw it up really high so it bounces 15' away or so and your dog can jump to catch it. We sometimes have to play fetch in a pretty small area, so it's nice to have the small launcher for these games. The larger launchers aren't as fun in small areas. You can play the same games but it's trickier to throw the ball ... MoreCombined with the Max Glow ball, this is the best dog toy available on modern planet Earth. We sometimes have to play fetch in a pretty small area, so it's nice to have the small launcher for these games. The larger launchers aren't as fun in small areas. You can play the same games but it's trickier to throw the ball correctly. Also, the small launcher is a lot easier to carry. The small launcher fits in my dog-walk-stuff backpack (with the ball in the launcher so I don't have to dig for it later), but the big ones don't easily. The launcher also has a hole in the end so you can hang it from your bag or whatever with a carabiner. The big ones are too long for that in most cases, and swing back and forth. Also-also my dog loves to ask for the launcher, then when I give it to her she plays keep-away and it's adorable. The big launcher I have is harder for her to balance in her mouth, so she just lays down and chews on it until it gets taken away. She's chewed on all of the four Chuck Its we've owned, but she's only broken one (a big one), but that's because she got ahold of it when no one was home. The little one in my bag is totally chewed up but still works great. I think they're sturdier than the big ones. Except for the launcher she chewed into pieces, which was our fault, the only reason we've had to replace anything was because we lost it. Usually we keep the launcher and ball in the backpack so she can't get to them and so they don't get lost, so we rarely have to replace them. There is just not a better value in toys, and the startup price is really low. Once again I really recommend the glow ball! It doesn't get soggy no matter how wet the grass or the dog mouth is. It is fun to chase because it is slippery and it collapses when it's squeezed, so it pops out of the dog's mouth and flies away if they bite it at the wrong angle; it's really bouncy, and stays bouncy because it can't be popped; it whistles so you can usually hear it even if you can't see it; and it really glows enough for nighttime catch, even if you only have your cellphone flashlight to charge it up! UPDATE: I should have said, we have the 12M launcher, which means the handle is 12 inches long and it uses a medium-sized ball. The medium ball is 2.5 inches in diameter, so the launcher will fit regular tennis balls, too! But my dog won't play with regular tennis balls anymore because they aren't anywhere near as fun as the glow balls, and I think she doesn't like having gross sloshy muddy tennis balls in her mouth. I lost my short launcher awhile back and could only get a long one locally to replace it, which reminded me that you have to lean over a lot further to use the short launcher. So if you have trouble leaning over to the point that your hand is a foot above the ground, this may be hard for you to use. I wish Home Essentials Direct would let us choose colors, because my old one was green, and the big one is orange, both of which are bright enough to see in the grass from far away, even at night. Still, best toy!

I was looking for a Chuckit Mini Ball Launcher and couldn't find one anywhere no one had them in stock. Dfordog was the only company that offered to email me when more came in stock. And they did. That same day I ordered one for my Teacup Yorkshire Terrier who loves chasing balls but at nearly sixty I can't throw them as far as I used to. And I thought this would be just the thing. With in a couple of days it was delivered and I haven't looked back. Teddy loves it he flies after his ball. Not only does the ball that came with the launcher but any size 2" ball will fit in and work with the launcher. I use Chuckit small breath easy balls. I just hope it never breaks. But at least I know where to get another one if it does. Thank you Dfordog from both myself and Teddy.
His favorite toy. My arm saver. Five stars. Our German Shepherd lives for this toy - in combination with his Chuck-It Large Rubber Mega Balls! Without this Chuck-It Launcher I'd have no arm. Or life. A 110# GSD gets whatever he wants till you wear him out - so I need to wear him out (without killing myself) if I ever want to get anything done the rest of the day around the house. I can continuously launch the balls to him mindlessly whilst I sit and read or talk on the phone. I never have to touch the balls (so slobbery &/or muddy -disgusting!), never have to bend over to pick them up (nice long handle), and don't have to exert any energy to throw the ball. I suppose it would work on my husband as well lol... Seriously, my dog likes for me to run the cup of the thrower up and down his spine. Go figure. He's a dog and he's fairly simple to please. I so fear not having this Launcher - that I bought a 2nd as a "back-up". Now what exactly was going to happen to the first one? That's the stuff of my nightmares... If this review helped you, please click YES. Thank you and have a blessed day :)
I had the same launcher for about 3 years. However, the old one was recently run over by a tractor and obliterated to pieces. Hence, buying one on Home Essentials Direct! However, my husband and I found that this launcher feels different. It seems to feel heavier and not as much control. Both the old and new were size mediums. Only difference is the old one was a green version vs. the new is blue. We are both a little disappointed that the feel with the new one is different. I am assuming that maybe they changed the design to be more durable, but in the end means heavier.
I waited a while to write this review so I could really test it all out. My pit bull, Bud, loves to play Frisbee but I haven't found one yet he won't utterly destroy in a couple of hours. He likes fetching balls almost as well and they are cheaper to purchase - A LOT CHEAPER - so balls are the usual fetch toy around here. He slobbers like crazy too, so this launcher is a great tool to have, (another pro over frisbees as launchers are not an option with those). He is also very hard on all of his toys. Most things last only a session or two and then have to be tossed, that is if you can find the remains. I can easily lob a ball with the launcher twice as far as my arm alone would allow. However, the fuzzy balls that came with it really soaked up slobber and made for some pretty gross play-time. Fortunately the balls didn't last but a couple of days anyway before he completely destroyed them. This prompted me to seek out a better ball that wouldn't get so nasty and hopefully might even last longer. The answer was the medium-sized solid rubber balls by Chuckit!. These work great in the launcher, don't soak up any slobber at all, and have proven to be much more durable. I bought two balls and he has been using the first one for over a week now with no end in sight. All this might not be a problem for many pooches, but rest assured if you do have a slobbering wonder dog like Bud, the answer is this launcher and the solid rubber Chuckit! balls. If this kit came with the solid rubber ball I would give it a perfect score.
Best combination ball and thrower. I have weak shoulders and this has made catch a really fun game for me and my dog. She loves the game more with the thrower and loves chewing the ball. Only had them for a week so hope the ball is as tough as advertised. Ball sticks a bit when fully enclosed in the thrower. So for each throw, I need to make sure it's not all the way in, however, hope and assume it will loosen over time.
Some (pointed) thoughts on the Chuck-it! launcher: We've used these launchers in all their incarnations over the past twenty years or so and the basic concept's great, in fact, a life-saver when tiring out our 3 hyperactive standard poodles. They're clearly ball-chasing addicts at this point. There's been a definite degradation in the product over the years, primarily in the cup's ability to grip/pick-up the ball. I'm no materials science guy but it seems there's been a change in the composition of the plastic such that it's lost much of its elasticitythe cup simply fails to grab the ball in a relatively short period of time (a couple months of use) where it seemed to last for over a year previously. Notice in one of the pictures how stretched out the cup ... MoreSome (pointed) thoughts on the Chuck-it! launcher: We've used these launchers in all their incarnations over the past twenty years or so and the basic concept's great, in fact, a life-saver when tiring out our 3 hyperactive standard poodles. Notice in one of the pictures how stretched out the cup getsneedless to say, it no longer picks up the ball! Our last 4 Chuck-It's (pictured) all suffer from the same malady to one degree or another, perhaps the orange (smaller one) slightly less so. Such mysterious loss of elasticity in subsequent 'newer/improved' models reeks of 'planned obsolescence'. Unfortunately, it worked! We've bought at least 10 over the years! Out of desperation, we tried another brand, also purchased here on Home Essentials Direct, the Hyper-Pet Throw-n-Go (the two black launchers to the left of the Chuck-Its) The Hyper-Pet is nearly identical in price but has held its cup's 'grab-ability' much longer. To be fair, it *is* shorter than the 26M, requiring you to bend over a tad more. It features a more flexible neck region, which may slightly limit maximum throw distance, but which is still great for our hyperactive standard poodles and which has the unexpected benefit of saving your wrist and forearm/elbow; I've not re-experienced humeral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) since switching (yeah, we use them *a lot*!). On the down side, the Hyper-Pet comes only in black and its circular 'extra-ball storage' in the handle is gimmicky. ~ In sum, I feel slightly used and abused by the phine pholks at Chuck-It what with my 'engineered obsolescence' concerns and the fact we've been such good customers. Topping it off, I wrote to them about my observations a month ago and have yet to hear back. And so, since Chuck-It seems to have 'thrown the match', I've decided to 'throw in the towel'. Buh bye, now. ~
While my dog struggles with the concept of returning the ball to me, she absolutely loves this! We visit a huge dog park frequently, and this lets me throw a ball far enough that she really gets to run full throttle! Running is her favorite. Then, she gets to play her second favorite game of "keep away" with the ball.
