It was a good game and one of the most fun and creative combat systems that I've played for a while. There was quite a lot of bloat or moments where it feels like the game is dleiberately slowing you down or making you grind which took away some of the enjoyment for me which made it a four rather than 5 star review. Fantastic game I received in mint condition from CEX. Looks amazing on PS5 pro. FF VII remake starts slow but really gets going on second half, a good balance between action and turn based(you can slowdown fighting to make strategic decisions). Tremendous value for the money

So I bought this game about a month ago and I don't regret it at all. Like, this is still considered to be one of the best games playstation has to offer and to see it run at 60 fps is so mindblowing. Combat is solid, music is goated and characters are fantastic. Definitely get it and set yourselves up for Rebirth^Story is pretty solid...to an extent (mainly the ending) and there are some parts that seem unskippable (Battle cutscenes, narrow walls where characters take their time traversing) so it kinda hurts the replayability a little bit but in the end, the game's still great.(Btw, delivery and packaging went pretty smoothly)

You can alternatively simply select which abilities they use once they are "charged" enough. Very fun throughout.The story is mostly a faithful retelling of the original except greatly expanded. A much better script and good voice acting now accompanies it. There is 1 new character which was a let down for me. Another new addition is ghost like figures which are reminiscent of the dementors. Their contribution is the biggest change and not necessarily a good one, particularly towards the end of the game. The ending seems to go off the rails a little bit, but I can still appreciate everything else up to that point.Very satisfied with Walmart's shipping, the game arrived for release day.

I was told I could send it back for a new one, however I'd rather get stuck in, and perhaps replace the case at a later date at my own expense. Of course this is only Part 1 of the remake, they really shouldn't be marketing or naming it as FF7 remake, it is not the whole story by any stretch - just the Midgar portion with some extra stuff added to make it into a full playtime. The new content added is fun but I would have preferred them to just make more progress on the original content and flesh it out. Another thing to note is that the game is mostly on rails, pretty similar to FF13 in that there is definitely no open world and may be a couple sidepaths to take but you will run into invisible walls and characters telling you 'not that way!' all the time. Even with all that taken into consideration, I still find it worthy of a 5 star rating just because how well done everything else is and how it is excellent to get to play as Cloud and friends in a more modern take. The original FF7 isn't going anywhere and is still great itself, but this remake part 1 does well in making something in the same setting that is worth playing.

In the end (WHICH IS ONE OF THE WORST TWISTS EVER) the monsters are like the bosses in the end of the original but you are still the level of just leaving Midgar. Yes the game is so lame it ends with Midgar and no world at all. I wasn't sure how they would be able to take a game as beautiful as it looked and make it better, but they exceeded all expectations with this PS5 version! If you are one of the lucky ones who's been able to snag a console, this is an absolute MUST-BUY!!!And yes, the entirety of the game takes place in Midgar. It's not the ENTIRE FF7 story. I purchased this game on August 10th so I wanted some time to play it before reviewing. Long story short: It is a decent game, not bad at all. There were some elements that I wasn’t a fan of, but as a person who has been a fan of the OG version since the beginning I was not let down. I love turn based and action games even though I grew up with turn based. The fighting style of this game is not hard to figure out at all. You do have to switch between characters as you fight enemies because of long range or other needs. After some time you will get used to it. There are side quests that can leave something to be desired, but they are not mandatory. Graphics are amazing!This is only the beginning, but I highly recommend it!
