The Squire Strat was an excellent choice for a quality beginner instrument for my tween daughter, with a nice feel and versatile tonality like my two Fender Strats, and lighter weight. Very minor fret buzz at first but a slight tweak to the truss rod should fix it, otherwise the setup was excellent. Waiting a few weeks for it to settle in first. Black color, to go with her nails, was the right choice!

...so I purchased this as an alternative to my acoustic guitar. The 1st thing I noticed is how light it was. The maple neck was a different feel and gave me more accessibility to the frets. Once I got the guitar in tune I was surprised how nice it sounds. The amp is not the best, but if you don't have one, you won't notice. Overall I like this guitar. Thank you Fender for making an affordable electric guitar. I would get this again for a beginner. As I progress, this guitar is pushing me to upgrade to another Fender. It's that good. I have a lot of fun with this G-tar.

I have always been pleasantly surprised at the quality of these cheaper Squier Affinity and other similarly priced Squier guitars. I have played Squiers for decades, including jazz basses, Teles, and of course this Stratocaster. It plays as well as a guitar can play. It looks absolutely gorgeous. It sounds like any much higher priced Strats and the humbucker is a great go-to for playing leads without having to have a pedal boost or having to go to the amp controls for boost. It set up as well as any Fender I have worked on and I have worked on quite a few over the years. I would not hesitate to use this guitar on any stage or in any studio production. The frets needed no top or side dressing and no leveling.
The guitar was better than I expected, didn't really have to alter anything and it has a pretty nice clean tone. Sadly, the amp had to be sacrificed for the quality of the guitar. It sounds terrible and makes a horrid exploding noise when played with any gain or high volume.Bottom Line: I would recommend to a friend, but with caution
This is my first electric guitar. It's alright out of the box. But to make it sound awesome , you got to set it up. I sanded down the fretboard( 400 , 800,1000 grit sandpaper) be careful not to sand the guitars body finish. Floated the tremolo ( i was really scared but now i can make wah wah sound ). Added moisture to the wood on the fretboard ( i used beard oil hehe) and changed the strings (regular Ernie ball) . Now the guitar fretboard is smooth as butter. I'm in love whaha. The amp is loud and can be used as an auxiliary. It also has a headphone jack. I stay in a small apartment so that's loud enough for me.
My child self-taught ukulele and was ready to try something new. I'm familiar with Fender quality, but a Fender Stratocaster cost more than I wanted to spend. This beginner pack made by Fender/Squier is perfect. It literally has everything a beginner needs to get started, including all the little things you might not think to buy, like a cable to connect to the amp, a guitar strap, and even picks. I'm hoping that my child loves electric guitar enough to outgrow this, but it's reasonably priced and I consider it money well spent.
Comes with guitar, amp, cables, picks, and even a guitar case. Good little package. Once tuned up, this strat plays pretty well, and is great for anyone of any age to learn on. The amp is a little fiddly, and it takes some effort to get that distorted electric rock sound, but it certainly does the job. Trick: turn the guitar volume way up, amp volume to lower, and make sure the overdrive is engaged on the amp. Overall, a nice package with a pretty sweet looking strat that feels and looks much more expensive then what you are paying. Only downside is guitar does not come with a tuner, and, it has a tendency to detune itself quite frequently (check and tune it daily for best results)
New to playing guitar. Started out trying with an acoustic guitar. But when my teacher allowed me to try the electric he was using, I found it easier with the electric. Asked him for a suggestion for a beginners electric guitar and this was one of the recommended guitars. And the pricing was well within my budget. I enjoy playing it.
besides the weird booming sound coming from the amp when strumming, and the guitar constantly being out of tune. i would suggest this to a friend when starting out. however if you have more prior experience, get a better guitar and amp than this one. other than that, the price is somewhat equal to the quality of the guitar.
