I am not sure about its backward compatibility with older units. But I am happy with its great performance. When I first viewed this drive I was skeptical as the price seemed to good to be true. But nonetheless I went ahead and purchased one.I have to say, after popping it in an M.2 slot, and running some tests, the speeds were insane. It took me a mere 10 minutes to download a 1TB file. It’s got a great warranty of 2,400TBW, and a great warranty.A negative overall would be its performance when transferring more that one large (1Tb) file at a given time, and It is out performed by the Samsung 980 pro in that respect.Overall a 9/10 product price to performance wise, a great buy again. I am very happy with the performance and quality of this product. The SSD is very easy to install, has stunning speeds of up to 7400MB/s read and 6500MB/s write and a large capacity of 2TB. I would highly recommend this SSD to anyone who is looking for a fast, reliable, and affordable PCIe 4.0 SSD for their PC.
Got my 2TB drive a few weeks ago, while it was on special. It’s mounted on the motherboard of my PC and seems to go really well. I’ve got a 2TB WD Black 750 in there too and both have almost exactly the same test results under Crystal Disk Mark. The Lexar 790 does run hotter than the WD, though, by about 10 degrees C.
this is a great Value SSD for upgrading your Capacity on your PS5. also got an aftermarket Heatsink for better heat dissipation.
You can pay double for similar product which might be a trifle faster, but in real life usage you can't tell the difference. This installed and worked easily first time. I used Macrium software to clone the operating system disk then followed up with minitool to create a data disk and everything worked perfectly. I doubled my space and improved the speed - a bargain
A good price for such a fast drive. It's really slick and easy to install. Not my main drive but amazingly fast storage drive. Why pay more.
