Excellent. Very secure in use absolutely no vibration. I am amazed at how secure they are in every position. Some reviews mentioned that the jaws did not seat perfectly, I have to report that mine did, in every axis.Beware the jaws are a bit vicious for my model making requirements. The fixing screws were too tight to remove the jaws and replace with some softer material so I made a set of wooden soft covers, which renders the vice perfect for my needs. My only criticism was the excessive (for me) backlash in the main vice screw. This was easy to remedy by removing the screw and inserting a second washer between the retaining cir clip and thrust plate.

This is a well made vice that will hold your work in nearly any position. The body of the vice is made from cast alloy (non-magnetic) but the jaws, screws and positioning ball are all steel. As with other vices of this type, the ball needs light lubrication and some time to 'bed-in' before it moves freely when unlocked. Recommended as a hobby vice.

This is a great product for DIY enthusiasts who don't have a garage or workspace. This vice can easily be attached to a fold-up workbench. This product has been well designed and is of exceptional quality.

I bought this vice as a hobby vice, not expecting it to be much really. Yet I am very pleasantly surprised. This vice although quite small is very sturdy indeed. It has good weight and great grip, as well as packing a whopping 3 inch opening. (Most hobby vices only open up to 2 inches) It's also multi angle too, thanks to its ball joint system (genius), which quickly becomes its must have feature when doing fiddly, intricate work. Would I recommend it? Absolutely yes! I knew Stanley carries a good name and reputation, and in this case it holds up to that name 100%. 5 stars across the board.
This was an in-store purchase, bought for use holding small workpieces for light duty shaping and finishing. The clamp is good and fits onto a good range of thicknesses of work surface, and the ball joint for adjusting the working position is well made and sturdy.Where this product falls down is in that the jaws are not correctly aligned. They are not parallel on either axis, closing tight at one side whilst still leaving a gap at the other, and not in line with each other horizontally either (the faces do not marry up in line with each other). This is less noticeable whilst the jaws are wearing their protective rubber covers (designed for holding delicate items) but when removed it is very noticeable, and the horizontal and vertical vee grooves intended for ... This feels like a quality piece of kit, it certainly has some weight to it. The threads turn smoothly with very little backlash which is uncommon these days. The jaws line up accurately and it comes with removable soft jaws which is nice. When tightened up it feels solid, there is no play at all in the adjustable ball joint. Would I use it for heavy duty work, no, it's not designed for that. Would I use it as an extra pair of hands while soldering or to hold an awkward piece when cutting or drilling, yes definitely. I wanted a vice that I could use on any worktop, bench or fence rail and this is perfect for that.
This vice allows items to be clamped in an impressively wide range of orientations and clamps quickly and reliably to a bench, table or desk. The jaw opening is a little under the 75mm quoted - I measured 68mm with a couple of turns of thread engaged - but still good for a vice of this size. Once in position the vice feels very solid. Quality is good for the price, but be prepared to loosen up the ball and socket that allows the position to be changed; once that's done it's smooth enough. Also, the jaws on mine are not quite parallel, but nothing that the plastic jaw covers won't accommodate. Four stars for performance and quality but five overall considering the price.
This vice is solid and practical. The first uses are conclusive. The patella does not move once tight. And I like the unusual yellow color on this kind of article but that is the signature of Stanley.
This vice is well built and strong, given it's size. All metal, no plastic and incredibly flexible.I am sure it would find a lot of uses onsite in the back of a work van, but I use it for model boat building and tool sharpening and so forth. Once you have one you'll never run out of new ways to use it. I was surprised at the low price for such a useful little vise.
Sturdy overall and very versatile. However the ball was very stiff before first use, because the two screws at the back were too tight. unf, so tight and of such soft metal, that they were impossible to loosen without ruining the screw head, and had to be drilled out. Now no chance on a refund/exchange probably. Also, not 100% sure that it is not just going to be thrown away in that case. Not a fan of the throw away culture. So in the end, managed to drill out screws, lubricate ball, and now it works super with slightly less tight new screws.
