Bought these as I wanted a quality product. These are fantastic, worth the extra couple of pounds! Sharpe and well made, can't ask for more really. The oil and stone is handy to have, although have not had to sharpen yet. I'm sure you can buy these without oil and stone if you already own them.

I had never had a need for a good set of chisels until I started installing new doors in my house and needed to fix hinges. This set was so sharp (and retained their edge) that even my attempts looked pretty reasonable and my technique improved with the number I did. A sharpening stone with oil was also include for when some sharpening was neede. A good purchase!
When first opened the tips looked blunt but it was actually a coating of special protective stuff on the end that had dried there, and just needed cleaning off. Once that was done they were all Sharpe. The handles were scratched like others have said on here but not badly.Overall, I am happy with them.
I'm very pleased with these chisels,I have never used a chisel before and needed to cut some wood to fit against the skirting board snuggly,it was not possible to use a saw so I bought the chisel set to use. It made the job so easy and gave a beautiful result. Very sharp with a comfortable handle.
These appear to be well built and they are sharp. I've used them and I like them HOWEVER, they are not metric chisels....they are imperial with the closest metric size listed on them. E.g. the 12mm chisel is actually 12.7 (1.2") wide.Not great if you were wanted an accurate metric cut. If you're looking for an imperial measured cut...these would be great.
Purchased a chisel set for cutting out of hinges and tubular latch etc for x2 oak doors. Plastic storage is far too weak and tacky for containing. Chisels seemed to lose their sharp edge very quickly. Chisel handle seems very robust In all honesty I think price wise your not going to get much better hence only an average score
Surprised that Stanley don't do a a higher quality check on these before packaging them! The sharp cutting end of each chisel has a very cheap and nasty finish - in that they have a rough slightly burred edge, not the nice fine precision machined finish you would expect. Guess that's why they supply these with the carborundum stone & oil so that the buyer can spend or waste time 'depending on how you look at it' getting the finish 100%.
works the same as the 5000 series. the long edges are not parallel at all so the width will change as you sharpen. it is difficult to hold in sharpening jigs since it isnt parallel and it isnt a bevel edge chisel. the stone works great for coarse sharpening but it wears out and dishes quite quickly.
