Any type of network has its own type of cables. Today’s standard for home and office use is Ethernet. For Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet you need at least category 5 cabling. Ethernet cables can have their connectors attached in two different ways: ordinary or cross linked. You will most likely need the ordinary version, unless you want to connect two devices directly to each other, and even then most modern Ethernet network devices will automatically detect the type of cable you are using and adapt their settings to it, so they will work with both types.

Pros: Does what it says on the tin. Good ethernet cable.Cons: It was advertised as snagless (and the pictures show two snagless plugs), however the cable that was sent to me looks different to the one in the photos (the plugs don't have the rubber flap in front of the plastic lever to protect it).To be honest I don't care about this difference so it's not a problem for me, plus I understand orders might currently be harder to fulfil due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ethernet cables have writing on the sleeve, giving tech specs about the cable. Sometimes it is very richly colored, sometimes it is not. I had a need to expose a white cable, & searched for one that had faintly-visible writing on the sleeve. (I couldn't do a 'extra slim' cable at 50', & certainly didn't want flat) The ad pictures showed this to be the best contender. I received it today, and YES it is. The spec writing on the sleeve is very faint, thank you! Yes the cable design is fine & speeds are great. Great price too. Thank you startech. I recommend this cable.

I purchased this cable to connect my home PC directly to my router, which is about 40ft away on the far side of the house. I opted for a longer cable to compensate for the various bends in the wall and to be able to run the cable more discreetly. So far everything works as advertised. I am able to get high data transfer, specifically I was looking to improve my internet speed and connection stability (previously I had been having issues with my wifi), and this did the trick.
It works as promised. I'm not real thrilled with one of the ends, which doesn't "snap" into place as it should, but it still works. To be fair, I may have somehow damaged the end while running the cable from the switch to its destination, though I'm not sure either way.
This is a well-made cable and a great value, as are most StarTech products. Bottom line, it "just works." The one criticism I have is that it does not come with the connector shown in the product page photo. Instead, it has, as shown in my photo, a pair of fins on either side. This is generally effective, but can be awkward to use in some cases - especially when space is tight.
first time buying a Startech product, and im pleased. with the 25ft purple snagless patch cat6 ethernet cable in yer hands upon removing it from its packaging, you know its a quality made item. very satisfied, and will be looking to startech products in future, as a retrurning customer thanks
Pros: great qualityCons: none
