Mac mini M2 - works well enough. Is faster to wake from sleep than HDMI. However I don't get to see the Apple boot screen. Probably more related to my monitor.Mac mini M2 recognised my Monitor Innocn 27B4U as 1080P so had to manually change it to 4K (same as when using HDMI. Once set it always remembers. Interestingly my old MacBook Pro Retina correctly reads as 4K)Cable connector on the DP side does feel like cheap plastic as other people have said. However it will always be connected so not worried that it will break over time.Have only tested 4K @ 60Hz so unsure of its claims of up to 8KGeekbench 6 shows I get slightly better performance when using USB-C to DP vs HDMI

So, many mac users, mac mini, macbook air/pro etc with M1 chip, when you decide to go get an ultrawide screen 5120x1440 or higher, you are just going to get a pink screen over HDMI. You have to get the right cable and this is it.Basically you need Thunderbolt 3 (which is disguised as USB-C with a lightning bolt ) to DisplayPort to make these 5k resolutions work (5k is actually 5120 x 2880).Most of these ultrawide screens come with 2x HDMI and 2xDisplayPort, you simply need to connect this 1 cable from the thunderbolt port on the Mac to the screen and it is done.I tested everything prior to this using ScreenResX etc and no luck, the cable is EVERYTHING.

No Advice!
28 August 2022

The cable will not drive a 49 inch curved monitor from a 2018 Macbook Pro. I tried to get some advice before purchasing, but Scorptec don't answer the phone and rather than being able to leave a message, they tell you to call back! Then they can not answer the phone for a second time! Very poor service. When I enquired during pickup I explained the Hardware and the staff member said Absolutely it will work!
