I have a BenQ PD3200Q monitor (love this thing!) that ships with a nice piece of configuration software called Display Pilot (from Portrait Displays, Inc.). I had been using the HDMI input on the monitor because my laptop has no DisplayPorts, but does have one USB-C and one TB3, I just didn't have a TB3 -> DP cable. I was also using another StarTech product (VS421HD4KA 4-Port HDMI Automatic Video Switch) to view my OTB device, NAS display, a Raspberry Pi, etc. and while I would also recommend it if you need it, I found that the Display Pilot software couldn't interface with the monitor fully enough. I only have a DP -> mini-DP cable so it goes TB3->StarTech adapter->miniDP input and since it doesn't go through the HDMI switch, the Display Pilot software works again and I don't have to do settings adjustments with the on-screen menus (which are fine, as well) or the puck that BenQ gives you for hotkeys. I gave it an overall of 4 stars because I wish the "tail" on this adapter were either removable or a little bit longer.

This is exactly what I needed to hook my Oculus Rift S to my laptop. It's small, reasonably priced, and most importantly, it works great with the rift. So far, 0 complaints.

For work-related type of activity, I honestly don't see a difference between DisplayPort & HDMI, both sending good digital signals (so much better than old analog VGA connectors), and seemingly high display resolutions than DVI-D. If you have the choice, I'd pick DisplayPort as the slight edge technically. It appears to me to be constructed well, looks professional for on my desk, and the connections all seems solid. One thing to mention that I think is more to do with the macbook than the connector, as it is the same with my previous HDMI connector from another brand that I use at ... MoreWell, it works :) . I don't think it is the connector, but the macbook detection and handling of any such thing. You will see the same review comment from people on most such USB-C monitor connectors.
Worked with vive cosmos elite np on my laptop. Just make sure your usb port is 3.2 dp to your gpu. Great buy, let's me use laptop with vive, total win.
works fine using the DP 1.4 cable that came with the G9. i couldn't figure out how to push 120+Hz, so living with 60, but since this setup is mainly for work, it's totally acceptable. getting the full 5120x1440 and HDR experience.
