Great headset! Favorite one I’ve owned so far. Sounds good, nice comfortable and adjustable headpiece. Retractable mic is nice for positioning and of course traveling. All the controls/dials are easy to access for fast adjustment. My only issue is sound EQ is non existent… UNLESS you have a pc and download the software etc. kinda nice having a button on the headset itself to scroll through different EQ presets like some of my other older headsets. Still love the headset great quality, sound, and battery life.

The steel band keeps your headset sturdy and in good condition. While the elastic suspension band takes all the weight of the headset off your cranium. Those two points alone are enough to make the purchase. But the sound is phenomenal. It brings PlayStation’s ‘3D Tempest’ audio engine to life and totally immerses you into every game you play.I highly, highly recommend this headset.

Nice while it lasted
6 January 2023

Ultimately I was satisfied with this headset. This was my first set of wireless headphones, and I was impressed. They worked for my PC, PS4, and Switch; which was exactly what I was looking for. I was a light user, only using it for gaming and audio calls about 10 hours a week. They made my ears a bit uncomfortable after about 1hr use at a time, but I was willing to overlook that because of the sound quality and wireless range and that's a normal problem I have with over-ear headphones. But after 2 years of relatively light use, the charging port cracked; and I can't get them to charge for more than a few seconds at a time. After seeing the new version of the product still uses a micro-usb to charge instead of a usb-c; I won't be purchasing the new version. I would expect an item of this price to last longer than 2 years of light use; and I'm not willing to spend $150-$200 on a device that already failed on me. The manufacture's warranty was only 1-year, which is what I expected; but I'm not willing to gamble on a like replacement. I'll be looking for something cheaper, or a different brand to replace them.

PS5 is good, multi-platform use is questionable.
22 August 2021

Decent sound quality for the price I expected more, the bass is light and the treble a bit tinny to me. The mic is good for the PS5, everyone said I sounded great and I could hear others great, clear and static free. The sound issues are not from mic but from gameplay, explosions, footsteps, sword clashing, background ambient noise (birds chirping or leaves crunching). I had issues with using the headphones for the PC, the mic didn’t sound good and the general sound dynamics seemed off, like a latency issue or something. For example you run and a second or so later you hear the sounds of the footsteps, didn’t happen on PS5. I am curious if the multi-platform approach makes for decreased quality-to be fair it was the multi-platform capability that attracted me to the ... MoreDecent sound quality for the price I expected more, the bass is light and the treble a bit tinny to me. It specifically says designed for PS, perhaps the other compatibilities are more of an after thought? I am going to purchase gaming headphones made for a platform specifically instead, which will cost more as you’re buying 2 sets of cans versus one, but in my opinion the quality will be better across the board. This was a good idea, but not executed properly. The build quality seemed fine, the headphones aren’t the most comfortable, but are definitely not uncomfortable. I have a pair of Razer Nari Ultimates, those are more comfortable and easier on the ears/temples when wearing glasses (either prescription or gaming glasses, I wear both depending on if I am wearing contacts or not.)

Requires A LOT of patience
3 December 2021

If you have the patience to set them up, these headphones sound fantastic. Certainly MUCH better than the sony pulse 3d.I own both, and these are a real step up.The problem is, they don't sound good out of the box.Actually, they don't sound good at all until you find the proper EQ.The irritating part is that the EQ requires a PC, and every game has a different setup for sound. That means you need a setup for Battlefield, one for COD, because they don't really sound the same, then another one for sports games, FIFA and Madden kinda work with the same sound, the another setup for platform and adventure games.So. For my games i need to switch eq for every game, which would be okay if we could cycle through them in the headphones, but they don't do that.We have ... MoreIf you have the patience to set them up, these headphones sound fantastic. No, no... that would have been too logical. Instead, you have to unplug the friggin usbc dongle from the ps5 to plug it on the PC... every time. Here's the truth.I have the Sony pulse 3d because it came with the bundle.I have these, because i refuse to pay $300+ for a pair of cans. Also, before i forget, there's no bluetooth on these either.Having said that, I have an old pair of turtle beach PX4s which are falling apart and being held together by some spit, superglue, bubble gum and Epoxy. They connect to the TV, via de optical out return channel. The PX4s, out the box, sound much, much better than either of these and they don't require recalibration every time i switch a game. That's about it. If you have the patience, those will sound fantastic. If you don't, spend double and get either an Arctis Pro or an Astro A50.

Save time and money, get Astro A20 instead!

This headset is comfortable even when used for long game time. Built to last. But, that’s all the pros that I can say about this headset. The speakers they used for this is sub-par, not in my opinion, just bast on what I experienced. The loudest that I could use this is about 60%, beyond that would be distorted audio. I tried to fix the issue by using the downloadable program, used compression on it and the end result is less than flat. That just made the quality of the audio felt like using a $50 cheap headset. I bought this headset just because I couldn’t use my a50 when ps5 first came out without optical port and the hdmi audio converter were out of stock. I had it replace with the next gen Astro A20 just to have a backup for my A50, and the difference was night and day! A20’s all 3 modes out of the box were immersive even when on full blast!

When a big explosion happens, it certainly delivers, but it just feels like it's pushing too hard for it's driver size. I don't get very immersed in games as I don't get that serious deep bass sound or that boom feeling. All of my 50mm driver headsets deliver that immersive feeling to me, but it felt like there was a fine line between me and the game with this headset, I always knew I had a headset on my head.No Bluetooth Functionality - Cant connect to phoneNo App / buttons to toggle EQ mode - I don't think any console headset should have to require a PC to toggle through modes... especially at this price point they should have at least included a couple of buttons. All in all I will be returning it for the main reason of it's lack of features and horrible ease of use for changing EQ settings. I probably would have gotten over the drivers being 40mm and not 50mm, but I can definitely hear the difference with driver size when dealing with quality headsets

Steelseries 7p
18 August 2023

The Steelseries 7p headphones are top notch. I also own turtle beach 700 ps4 pro headphones and I can honestly say the Steelseries is way better. On the PS5, you can literally hear every detailed sound in whatever game you are playing. It feels as if you are in the game! For example, I was playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider and I literally felt like I was running in the woods at points. The sound is so crisp and life like that you are immersed in the game. These headphone have amazing noise cancellation as well, which gives you a gaming experience unlike any other heasphones on the market in my opinion. Highly recommend purchasing these. They're expensive but you get what you pay for.

Super comfortable and great quality

The headset itself is exceedingly comfortable, the cross band being highly adjustable, and the earpiece covers being very plush. The microphone arm is sufficiently flexible and stable, and does not droop or twist on its own over time. The headset also blocks out most external sounds, leaving very little interference. The battery, on full charge, lasted at least 4 hours of regular use without showing signs of weakening. Charging appears quick, and the plugs for the charging cable grip the plug firmly so they do not fall out unless intentionally removed. The wireless signal was tested out to a range of 40ft, and worked even when I was on a different floor of the house or outside while the PC was inside. Signal remained very strong all the way to the edge of functional range. The sound quality is excellent, and the microphone picks up very clearly, even with other nearby external sounds. Only complaint is that it might be slightly too sensitive, and picks up sound from several feet away, but not excessively so. The buttons to adjust volume, microphone and sidetone are well textured, and easy to identify and operate without looking. Only complaint for the microphone was the light in the receiver. The light is on when the mic is muted, but off when the mic is live. I felt that this would have made more sense to be reversed, and took some adjustment to get used to.It would be nice if there were some way to secure the wireless dongle to the headset when not in use, with either a snap-on location or a small pouch. The dongle is very small, and darkly colored, making me fear losing it if I move the headset from one area to another. Other than that, a highly satisfactory product.
