Sub 10 MK2

The Sub10 Mk2 is a powerful active subwoofer that extends the playback range of near- and midfield monitors down to 25 Hz. A robust special woofer with a large excursion and a highly durable voice coil has been optimized for precise reproduction in a bass reflex enclosure. The downward-firing bass reflex port is designed to minimize disruptive wind noise through generous sizing and shaping. The PWM amplifier achieves an efficiency of over 90%, allowing even critical passages to be played for extended periods without overheating. An additional output allows for cascading an unlimited number of subwoofers. For medium to large control rooms, this subwoofer offers an excellent combination of low cutoff frequency (-3 dB at 25 Hz) and high undistorted sound pressure (113 dB SPL at 1 m). All Adam subwoofers feature differentiated options to adapt them to the respective room or satellites. There are controls for volume (-60 to +6 dB), phase switching (180°), and a variable upper cutoff frequency for the subwoofer (50-150 Hz). A filter can be activated for the satellite outputs that blocks signals from the satellites below 85 Hz, allowing for Dolby-compliant film sound reproduction and relieving them from low frequencies. Additionally, the subwoofer can be manually turned on or off, or set to automatically activate when it receives signals (signal-on/continuous).

Absolutely incredible low end bass extension. Very strong and accurate low end, adjustable for every type of satellite speaker. Paired with my high- end Tannoy's they are hard to compare to any similar system. Just love the way bass suddenly came to life.

Great sub that complimented my Adam A7 speakers . Made a big difference when adding the sub . Lots of power & can be boomy when not tuned right . Big enclosure & very heavy for a 10 incher .

This is one of those studio buys that exceeds it's value and expectations when you combine it with a pair of ADAM A7Xs. This 2.1 combo takes you to a whole new dimension, you get a new level of absolute pure audio clarity never experienced before. I've bought all my gear from AMS, I consider myself a life-time customer. Thank you for your service!

Adam Sub10 MKII Review (Great Product)
15 January 2018

I bought a pair of Adam A7Xs last year to upgrade my old (made in the USA) Mackie HR824s. I did a lot of research before buying them and I don't think there was anything close in terms of performance in their price range (you'd have to spend a lot more to get some Genelecs or Focals or, presumably, more expensive Adams). At the time of the purchase I didn't have the funds for the sub and wasn't sure I needed one but I was very happy with A7Xs in my studio as my listening tests indicated. Then I had an opportunity to buy a used KRK 10S and that convinced me that, yes, you do need a sub even if you're not doing rap, pop or LFE for film. There is a lot of content below ~80Hz where even high quality satellites begin to roll off, especially with high bass content ... MoreI bought a pair of Adam A7Xs last year to upgrade my old (made in the USA) Mackie HR824s. There is a lot of content below ~80Hz where even high quality satellites begin to roll off, especially with high bass content material. I went on to set up a new studio last year. It was a real challenge to get an acceptable frequency response and an acoustician recommended I ditch the KRK for a higher quality sub so this year I bought the Sub10 MKII. Like the A7Xs, the product is just awesome. The controls allows for a wide range of tunability and by tweaking the controls and placement I was able to significantly improve my room's frequency response (this was based on listening tests and room measurement and analysis software (RoomEQ Wizard)). Now the graphs and my ears tell me a have relatively flat response to 30Hz, almost a full 45Hz lower than just with the satellites (technically the roll off started at 76Hz w/o and 32Hz with and is also much more gradual with the sub). My room is very small so I don't have perfect frequency response which is a huge physics challenge but I'm at +/- 6dB from the calibration level of 85dB (THX recommended listening level) across the spectrum. The other cool thing about the Sub10 MKII is that the frequency response is consistent when you increase and decrease the volume so it seems very well matched to the A7Xs. This definitely wasn't the case with the KRK. I'm not bagging on the KRK. It is a fine product at its price point, but the Sub10 costs four times as much so obviously its going to be better. My Adam 2.1 system volume can go WAY higher than is comfortable so headroom is not a problem, at least not in my small room. The Adam legs and isolation feet help decouple it from the floor but I still have an Auralex SubDude (which is ok but I recommend the IsoAcoustics and plan to upgrade). The only thing I don't like about the Sub10 MKII is that it doesn't have a bypass switch to toggle it on/off so you can just hear the satellites full frequency without the sub. I hope they add this feature to future models. Meanwhile, my system sounds sweet, has great measurements and I feel I can mix on this for years without needing to upgrade.

Awesome

We use the sub in our post production studio's 5.1 setup. The speaker is clean and precise. Perfect compliment to the A8's. it was well worth the 6 month wait to get it.

Clear bass at any volume
2 August 2017

I use this with a pair of Adam Audio A7X monitors, which it complements wonderfully. I am using this sub in an untreated home studio, which is about 18' x 12'. I use it at slightly reduced volume (using the built-in gain knob), and it does a great job of adding some authority to the low end, without being overpowering. That said, if you're after "big bass", this thing can definitely do that! Running some downward sweeping test tones on this box makes the whole room shake :)Lots of fun for listening to music, and helpful when working on mixing your own stuff. If you have too much bass, this guy will let you know real fast!No drawbacks that I've noticed in a month of use.

Damaged product
31 August 2020

Product arrived damaged on two corners. The odd thing is that the Styrofoam didn't look like there was enough damage sustained to warrant the damage on the speaker. One might think then that the item was shipped damaged and they knew about it.

Excellent sub that pairs perfectly with monitors.
25 March 2022

Excellent sub that pairs perfectly with the Adam A7X monitors. I have them running through the sub via XLR connectors and the sub handles the crossover perfectly. It hits 25hz without sounding windy, anything below that though you will need to get something bigger. In my small home studio it's perfect and fills out the bottom end that the monitors cant hit perfectly. Honestly, you can cheat at hifi by buying this system - if you want just perfect sound without having to spend 10k+ on amps and speakers, just get a pair of adam monitors and a sub. You will be in audio nirvana if paired up with a quality DAC.

Great Addition
8 October 2019

This was a great addition to my system, joining a pair of S2V speakers. Brilliant sound at both moderate high volumes. This was an upgrade from my reliable ADAM A7X system which worked well for more than a decade. My only complaint was that two previous shipments of the MK2 Subwoofers came damaged. It seems they were repackaged with inferior boxes which could not properly safeguard the hefty speaker. Third time, on my instructions, they arrived in the factory shipping box and all was well.

What a great Sub...

This is a superb sub. I use it with A7X(s). The control that I have over low frequencies by using the Sub10 is very impressive. I have experiences using less good sub in the past and the difference is like a day and night.
