The constant sense of progression keeps this game's hooks in me, drawing me back just to play a little more. Whenever you think you've caught up, the game drops a new waymarker to a new biome that contains even more stuff to do. That is both sinister and so, so satisfying. My only complaint is finding some of the materials can be difficult to find if you don't know what biome to look in, but the internet will help there.

Solid continuation of original game.Main protagonist is talking now but she is not annoying and speaks only in right situations so no disturbing during dives.New craft SeaTruck with wide range of attachable segments is nice evolution of Cyclops and basically mobile base with everything you need.New land bioms can be little hard to navigate at first and many recources had to be brought from sea but later inventions will make it easier. My only bigger criticism is story when main starting storyline about missing sister is soon overshadowed by new one and can end up on side rail, but it is not uncommon in open world games and not good enough reason to remove star.

At the time the first Subnautica was released I enjoyed the gameplay of that one and was very impressed by the graphics and quality. When I heard a sequel was being released I was very excited. It looked better than the first and I was right it was. There are more sea creatures to fight, unique species of animals, and even Penguins in the called Pengwing. Since this game takes place in the Arctic region, you can except much better scenery than the first Subnautica. I played this game on the Nintendo Switch. But after getting a PS5, I wanted to upgrade the game to that format. Plus the graphics are better. If you’re playing this game on a PS4, I’m sorry to say that you are not going to experience amazing graphics like you will on the PS5. I wish the first Subnautica game would get a PS5 rerelease like SpongeBob the Cosmic Shake did recently. This game is totally worth the $30 I would say even worth to pay more for it then that. Also the game is cheaper to buy the physical disc format. If you buy the digital format on your PS5, you will pay double the price of this. So might as well buy the game on the disc. Plus it’s 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc and the PS4 only has the standard Blu-ray Disc. So I highly encourage everyone to buy this game and also upgrade to a PS5 and sell your PS4 for better performance and graphics.

The itself game is amazing but maybe get it on the computer. It is fun, unique, engaging, and exciting. However, both games crash frequently and without any warning signs. There is no autosave system. It seems worst when returning to your base. This means you leave your base for a hour to two to explore a new area and collect supplies and then all of your progress is suddenly wiped on your way back. It also crashed while walking into room where the climax occurs of the first game. It also crashed just after finding after resurfacing from finding an item in the 2nd game I was looking for. I've been unable to find that item ever again despite looking for over an hour. Despite notifications by the developer about updates and improvements to prevent this. I've been unable to find that item ever again despite looking for over an hour. Despite notifications by the developer about updates and improvements to prevent this. Every time you start it up after a crash it pops up with a "hey give us feedback" message. This feedback system doesn't work and I get an error message. The game is good enough I keep playing it... but buying it on the switch means you pay a premium over purchasing it on steam. Don't pay a premium for a glitchier product.
This game was a Christmas present for my son. A week before Christmas he mentioned wanting and I immediately started scrambling to find it. A digital version was easily available but I really wanted to have something physical to put under the tree. Thankfully I was able to purchase this item and have it arrive the day before Christmas Eve. For the price, this two game package was an amazing deal since I could only find the digital version of the first game available for this price. He has just started playing but seems enthralled and fingers crossed it will only get better. I can't comment much on the story line and other aspects of the game since he hasn't spent enough time playing it yet but if they are on the same level as the graphics then this five star rating ... MoreThis game was a Christmas present for my son. I bought Subnautica: Below Zero on the PS5 store when it launched in May. I was enjoying it greatly with the new story line and new vehicles and then 32 hours in the save game functionality stopped working. Upon restarting the game, the whole save file was gone.If you go to the Unknown Worlds website/forum, youll see that the game suffers from these game breaking save game errors on more consoles than just the PS5. They recently released a patch that focused on fixing graphics bugs and lagging, but didnt fix the save game error. What good are fantastic graphics if you periodically lose all of your saved progress!?The game might be good someday, but right now its just disappointing.

The best sequels are based on the idea of taking what was loved and improve/expand upon it. In that respect Subnautica Below Zero has achived that. Expanded gameplay features, expanded danger, clearer tutorials making it more friendly for first time players. Playin the first one is not required to play this one but as always it would help jump start your experience to be familiar with the mechanics. The story is fun and you can choose your level of challenge to have a true survival experience or just have fun building. The environment is massive feeling and is full or fun to explore...just don't get eaten.
First, I would suggest playing the first Subnautica game first. It is bit more expansive and it also goes at a slower pace so you're not so overwhelmed at first. I feel like it would be easy to get lost pretty fast in Below Zero, for someone who has not played the first game. That being said, if you are at all interested anything involving crafting, survival, exploration, discovery, sci-fi, then I highly recommend playing these games. They are incredibly addicting.I'm playing Below Zero on an Xbox series X and the game runs great. There is a high performance mode and a high frame rate mode. I use the performance mode so I can get a lower frame rate since I feel like the higher frame rate would give me motion sickness.
