So, I got this about a year ago and my experience with this line was horrible.Based on all that I've heard about braid and the details on this specific brand, I thought that this would be a great investment for my fishing gear. The line first snapped from abrasion about after a few months of ownership (I take part responsibility for this). The next time the line snapped was when I was bringing in a small fish (Not even close to 5lbs.), the line at the end looked perfectly fine and I could see no reason to cause a snap other than bad line. The third time the line snapped was when I was casually reeling in a jerk minnow, I knew that it had snapped because it had snapped above the snap swivel I had connected to my jerk minnow; I was fishing in open open water, so ... MoreSo, I got this about a year ago and my experience with this line was horrible.Based on all that I've heard about braid and the details on this specific brand, I thought that this would be a great investment for my fishing gear. Been using braid since it first came out. Use it in salt and fresh water. Used 65# down to 10#. All braid can suffer from abrasion, then break with a sharp tug. Trick is find a braid that wears the least, and try to keep it away from hazards as best you can. Sufix wears the least. Many reviews try to compare mono and same pound test braid. Can't do that. Must change over to equal sized diameter braid for best crossover. Sufix has the thin round diameter that makes a crossover (from mono to braid) more advantageous. There may be better braids on the market. I haven't tried the high dollar brands. For the price per yard sufix is the best I've come across.

I have been a fresh water fisherman most of my life. Always used mono. My son bought me a new salt water reel and a spool of braid. I was pretty skeptical of the braid. I have to eat crow on this one. I love the response and strength of the braid line. I am upgrading all of my lines to braid! I am glad that he went to Discount Tackle and taught the old man a new trick.

Made me a believer

After using this line, I believe some of these negative reviews are operator error. All the wind knot problems could be self inflicted. No matter what kind of line you have, when you cast there is always play or slack. More so when the wind is blowing hard. Each time you cast and click the bail over pull your rod so that your line is tight before you start reeling. A lot of people make the mistake of clicking the bail over while reeling and continue reeling. You will probably get wind knots no matter what kind of line you are using...Mono or braid. A good reel will also help lay the line better on the spool as it is reeling.. Subpar reels sometimes twist the line on as it wraps it onto your spool.I also think another mistake people make is thinking that superline ... MoreAfter using this line, I believe some of these negative reviews are operator error. They think that with superline they should be able to cast as hard as they want without it breaking. Thats not the case.As for my experience with this line, I have been using this on a daily basis now for over a month and in some pretty nasty conditions and i have yet to get a loop in my spool and I am using a spinning reel. I also have not had any knots slip or pull out. Casting distance is noticeably further and its super sensitive. I have only had a few days that were subfreezing so the jury is still out on its ability to manage ice and the cold, but as of right now, if used properly this is a very tough line to beat. This line is now my go-to line.

Nice looking line, looses it's color while loading my 2 baitcast reels. I wish I had taken pics of my fingers while spooling my 2 reels up.???
26 August 2022

I haven't used it to fish yet but as far as the coloring goes, it needs some work. When loading my 2 reels with the 30lb and 65lb braid the coloring came off both spools where I held the line to keep it tight and even on my reels. My thumb and forefinger where both covered in the green die, I had stripes across both fingers which other braid I had used never did. I know once it get into the water I will loose a lot of the color. I hope it doesn't change to much because I never had much luck using braid. I'm 70 so I can't be trying every brand out there to find one that holds it color. I read all the comments on this kind and thought it was one brand that would retain most of it's color. I own 5 Large spools and 6 smaller salt water ones that are the easiest and best, strongest and thinnest Line I ever bought. Example on 8lb test I caught a 21 1/2lb Catfish in fast water, A 41 1/2inch Musky in fast water. Thie line never left me down, I hope this braid works better then I feel it's going too! Tight Lines to All.

No Problem Braid
18 May 2021

Whether using 10 lb for jigging Pompano or Sheepshead or a heavier line such as 20 lb for surf casting, this is my go to braid. No wind knots ever. Spools great and just like having extra on hand but I don't know why. It never seems to wear out. White and Neon/Lime Green are the least visible to fish. Yes, Fish can see colors. Especially the dark green. Look up the tests on YouTube. Now I only use colors white and Lime/Neon Green. Coming in 3rd is blue. Tight Lines.

On par with other top brands

I’ve been using Power Pro Super 8 slick V2 and find this an acceptable substitute. I’m not sure it’s better (yet) as I’ve only been using it for a month or so and I fish an hour or two a week… That said, I’m pretty happy with the way it performs. Not much fading yet and less wax residue than the Power Pro. It’s about the same price. I would give it a thumbs up…

Super smooth, strong, awesome. 1st time Sufix user

This line is so smooth it casts a mile. Strong, supple. Absolutely awesome. The bad reviewers are newbies who wouldn't have a clue what they're doing. One guy called the line " string". Lol . Always used Berkley, this Sufix is great. Not affiliated with any tackle company either.

Wind knots come out easy
23 July 2020

I have been using 20 lbs 832 Braid for 1 1/2 seasons. I have it on a 2500 series Pflueger President reel. I do get some wind knots. All my reels are Pflueger Presidents that are spoiled with Fireline and one 3500 series is spoiled with 30 lb Spiderwire. The 30lb Spiderwire is unequivocally the best, I have had it on my real for five years now absolutely zero problems. I fish three days a week in open water season spider wire is by far the best I have ever used. And the colorholds up extremely well. However in the20 lb I can’t say the same. Actually it was horrible. So I tried 20 lb Sufix 832 and glad I did. It knots up every know and then. Fireline knots come out pretty good to but not a 100% successful all the time. I will be trying 832 to replace my Fireline in lighter line strengths 8 to 10 lb.I noticed the 832 line holds its shape longer and doesn’t get fuzzy looking. Plus I have never cut my hand grabbing new 832. Fireline will cut your hand when it’s new. Now I know why they call it Fireline because it burns like hell.

simple, unscientific test you can try yourself
8 March 2023

I've been using 15lb power pro v2 for a number of years and just considered switching to Sufix 832 or Yo-Zuri Superfine and here's what I tried: took a piece of yo-zuri hd-carbon flouro leader and used Albright knots to tie new PP v2 on one end and new 832 on the other end of the leader, and then pulled really hard. Did this twice. In both cases the 832 broke about 4 inches up from the flouro knot.. I then cut a fresh piece of fluoro, spooled off some new PP v2 and some new Yo-Zuri superline and performed the same test twice. On both tries the fluoro broke near the centre of the piece. And so, I think that's it for me and 832, fishing lures aren't cheap and I'd rather not think I lost a large fish because of a line that I now know is weaker straight out of the package.
