It took about 15 minutrs to set up and you often have to reset the Bluetooth connection with the phone to get it to work but it's easy to use and being able to buy it from Tool Station means you can be using it on the day you buy it. I had previously tried to download an app for a system that just uses a phone but getting through the Anti Money Laundering took over a week and I eventuality gave up. SumUp is much more straightforward. Highly recommended.

An excellent and incredibly good value way for individuals or small businesses to be able to accept credit card payments. My only criticism of this was that SumUp's website did not make it clear that registration requires approval and the scanning of a document such as driver's licence. No problem with doing that but it took 24 hours from registering with the Sumup site before being invited to submit validation and then a further 24 hours hours to become validated and able to start using the card. Again no problem, just frustrating not to know this process in advance and so waste time fiddling around with the app on the phone. Again no problem, just frustrating not to know this process in advance and so waste time fiddling around with the app on the phone. SumUp programming team please note that during the time when validation is pending trying to access the account via web comes up with a helpful "Account pending validation" type message as it should, but trying to logon to the app simply comes up with "Invalid Userid or Password" or similar message which leaves the user wondering what they have typed wrong. Might be worth updating the app to have a more user friendly message in this situation. That said, once validation was complete, the app was simple to set up, connection to the device worked first time and it was very easy to make a test transaction of £1. Within about 24 hours my bank account had been credited 98p (the £1 transaction - the transaction fee). At 1.69% and no other costs except for the incredibly good value price of the reader this makes this an excellent device for small businesses or even individuals like myself who would like the ability to accept credit cards at car boot sales etc.I have yet to try refunds but the process looks simple, although, of course, the commission charges for the transaction will still apply.Bear in mind that the unit is just a credit card reader, it does not have anywhere to input the transaction amount or details, all of that is done via the easy to use associated app on the phone. This works very well indeed and is, of course, what makes this card reader such great value for money.Highly recommended.

It's a cracking little device. Very easy to use with the app and you get confirmation straight away and the funds are available within 24 hours. My customers love it, It makes it so much easier for them. No contracts, no monthly payments, just a small fee with each use. It saves time on counting cash or writing cheques. I'm very happy with it.

Fantastic bit of kit at a great price. The transaction fees are really low, and you can even use it to sell event tickets by sending a link or QR code for people to buy online at commission rates well below conventional ticket selling websites. Brilliant bargain. (My reader had a battery problem - it wouldn't charge beyond 71% - but Sumup replaced it free of charge under the warranty).
If you are someone who sells at Craft Fairs, Antique Fairs, Markets or even Car boots, youll need one of these. The Sum Up is a card payment machine that is so easy to use and set up. This model requires a mobile phone, you download the Sum up app to the mobile, this will then pair with you machine, there is a little bit of info youll need to provide, such as bank details for the money to be sent to. Once set up taking payment is so easy, open the app, enter the amount and you can either use contactless or there is a card slot, its as simple as that. Youll need a mobile data or wifi for it to work. Ive used one of these for a few years now and its brilliant, very low costs, and a great way to accept car payment. Get one, you wont regret it.
This is my second unit. I left the first one in the conservatory and once over heated it self districted and not repairable. I’d had it for about 5 years and it’s fantastic. No contract as it deducts a % of the transaction which you can add to the transaction or pay after. Chip and pin or insert card. Also works with American cards that need to be signed for.
Not the easiest thing to set up, downloaded the app on my samsung galaxy and the text is jumbled and lays over other text, not set out properly. Re installed the app, still rubbish. Card reader works ok, the card they send you took 3 weeks to arrive. Not really that impressed tbh! Glad it was cheap! When it breaks i wont replace it!
I had a few issues setting the SumUp card reader up. They asked questions that weren’t relevant to me(just doing a few craft fairs) I’m not a business but got there in the end. Great little card reader. The Wi-Fi has to be good where you are trading from, kept people waiting but overall it’s great. The price is really good. SumUp keep going on about the master card that comes with the card reader. I have chosen to ignore it and have not set the card up. Have set the card reader up to go in my bank account. They send the card anyway.
This is my 2nd SumUp Air card reader. Very nice reliable bit of kit. A quality feeling unit for making card payments. Been using my 1st one for a few years but unfortunately dropped it on a customers glazed tile kitchen floor and have cracked the front panel. Still works absolutely fine but decided to get a new one and keep the old one as a backup. Very pleased with my purchase and was £10 cheaper than my 1st one. Thanks Toolstation.
Very good price, easy way to take payment at the time for fixed 1.69%. Tested out by making £5 charge on my own card to see process. It was so easy. Remember it all hinges round your phones connection to the internet for everything to function.Online chat is good and they will walk you through setting up making sure to money goes to the Bank Account you want. You can just stick with the account they give you when you set up the SumUp App but that’s your choice to make. This is my experience using iPhone, can’t speak for other devices
