This is the most over-engineered rice cooker I have ever used. I only replaced my old one as I couldn’t find a replacement non-stick bowl as mine was all scratched and lots of rice was getting left behind. This new model does not let the lid come off completely and I have to leave the whole device on the bench for 2-3 days after using to let it dry out. The silicone around the seal traps so much moisture that I struggle to see how it can be hygienic as you can’t remove it to clean it. And the special “condensation collection” part? There are design problem with this rice cooker. The extra liquid collector case comes off very often, even with a slight movement. Often filled with the extra water it is mess to mess to clean when it comes off and spills the starch water. Second when you open the lid, the Vapour and the water collected underneath the cover starts drilling and you have to have a tissue ready for it. Rice gets over cooked and you can find slightly burnt layer at the bottom.

Bought this in December, rice is very sticky. Bought a breville cooker and it cooks the same rice perfectly, long separated grains. I called the Sunbeam customer care, Angelina advised to change the rice I am using. How ridiculous, I can clearly see the difference by using a different rice cooker.
Pros: Good value for money. Right size for small family. Cons: Poor design of handle next to the vent from which steam comes out to burn hand when opening the lid with the handle. The lid should spring up open when a button is pressed, just like many other brands, to avoid hand from touching the handle near the hot steam. Must improve this design immediately for safety reason.Lacking in suction cups or rubber stoppers at the bottom to prevent the cooker from sliding. Non stick layer inside the pan is thin and looks cheap, with a thin layer of lightly burnt rice at the bottom.Old design to allow steam accumulate and drip into the small container on the outside.Prefer a rice cooker with a timer so can have hot rice ready after returning home from work.
Cooks rice perfectly, but the cooker is a bit annoying to clean. Not difficult, just annoying. The bowl hand washes easily, but starchy moisture gathers on the inside panel of the lid and drips everywhere when you remove it to clean it.
Easy to use, easy to clean. I used it to cook rice, steam vegetables, reheat dumplings. I recommend this product to anyone.
It’s simple to operate by just pressing 1 button. Steam rice is ready to serve around 24-25mins. Steam from steaming vent starts to soar around 12mins. Material made for inner bowl is rather thin if compared to Asian brand cookers. To wrap up it’s ok to have one cooker like this model for a basic grade necessity in domestic kitchen.
Worst rice cooker EVER. Burnt rice on bottom, every single time. Impossible to clean, flawed design. Leaks when cooking so you have a puddle of cloudy rice water on bench; condensation reservoir is useless. Flimsy. Slides on bench top when removing rice. Rice falls into the 68 grooves and nooks which cannot be cleaned. Fake positive reviews. DO NOT BUY!!! TRUST ME!!!!
Importantly it cooks rice well. The removable lid alloy liner and lid are harder to clean than a basic glass removable lid. The base feet are very slippery and do not grip surfaces well so the cooker slides when handled which could effectively be dangerous. The lid is quite difficult to open compared to glass lid on our previous Breville. The side 'handles' are also poorly designed because it is difficult to pick up and carry meaning the cooker could easily be dropped.
