Have purchased this approx 18 months ago and have really enjoyed the multi temp function. Kettle gets regular but not excessive use (probably boiled 4-5 times a week). Unfortunately the silver around the part that shows the water level is plastic and has cracked and flaked off which is unattractive and annoying to clean. The outside colour has held up well though and forgiving to the odd knock and scrape.

Having had to discard a kettle my sons surprised me with on Mother's Day as the levered top failed (and so it annoyingly continued to boil) I wanted a reliable device that looked good, and would stand up to frequent use during work from home days. This kettle does exactly that. Stylish, solid and well made, with just enough options and an easy one touch cut off. Highly recommended.

Great looking unit and quiet operation. The top cover is removeable instead of the usual spring loaded type, which should be longer lasting. Been filling it up with water from a Brita jug and the insides are still looking new. For those with smaller kitchen benches the base might take up some space. All in all a highly satisfactory purchase.

The functionality of the kettle is fine, does what it's supposed to do. The craftmenship is horrible! Within the first year of owning the kettle and the matching toaster, we noticed the the chrome coating is just a film and started peeling and chipping away. Looks absolutely horrible.Don't waste your money when you can get the same functionality from a kmart kettle
I've always wanted a kettle with different temperature settings, and when I saw this one matches my coffee machine I had to get it.Cons: The handle is plastic, although I guess that keeps it cool to touch. You have to take the lid off manually to fill the jug which can be a bit hot if you need to refill it straight away. So Goood! I was replacing a kettle I loved so I had high expectations but this was affordable and is actually BETTER. It's pretty quiet, at least in comparison to our last one, has variable temperatures which I need as I'm a herbal tea lover and different tea leaves require different temps. I also love that there is an indicator light that counts down to when the boil is finished, so if you're in a rush you can tell what temp it's at and stop it early. Easy to clean and something about the spout just works like magic, I never spill it. Note the lid isn't a flip lid, I don't mind since that's usually what breaks first but it's worth knowing.

Really happy with this kettle. It is very quiet and boils water quite quickly. I especially like the feature showing the current temp, even after the kettle has finished boiling, as it gives an idea of how hot the water still is even if not used immediately after it's finished boiling. Really nice matte black finish also. The only very minor downside is the removable lid - we would've preferred a flip lid rather than one you have to completely take off to refill.
The Alinea truly is the best multi-temperature kettle. The matte-black finish looks and feels high quality, the buttons actually light up and are embedded into the unit (unlike other kettles which are only written on and wear off). Water is boiled perfectly to the temperature selection each time and the kettle even continues to display the water temperature after boiling showing what kind of beverage you could still use the water for.Don't look at any other kettle, for the style, build quality and features compared to price, this is the best!

The difference is with this kettle, it does show the exact minutes and seconds are left until it’s finished boiling, which is the only reason I didn’t give it quite full star rating. It does let you know time left by lit bars which gradually move to the commencement of the heating time left. This kettle also has a “stop” function and also other than boiling to 100% you can choose a couple of other temperatures for green tea etc. Overall, there is a lot to love about this stylish kettle. The water level window is on the side but I don’t find this a problem. I like to spend money wisely and I like nice stuff.
