Have had the Barista Plus almost 3 months now. Upgraded from Sunbeam Mini Barista, a very worthwhile upgrade. Makes a great coffee & you can experiment a little to suit your taste or the beans you use. Love the built in grinder & timer, bigger water reservoir & how good it looks in my kitchen with its efficient footprint on the bench. Initially found it be be a bit messy with the coffee grinds but have easily got that sorted. The black colour is much easier to keep looking smart. The blue light that comes on for a cleaning remind is a great idea, especially now I have the cleaning tabs. Best to get a good supply early in the piece. Got a bulk amount on EBay that are suitable for many brands.

The timer for grinding is useful as i know now to aim for 20 seconds of grinding for a double shot.- The black looks good in my kitchen, it's a nice design.- The timer is useful for the extraction as now i can tell if the shot is good, i am for about 25 seconds- The coffee tastes great and it's really not as hard as i thought it would be- Coffee is really consistant and temperature is always good tooCons- I wish it had an alert to tell me when the water was getting low, it does beep at me when it has run out of water but quite often i am already half way through pouring a shot, and it will stop and I need to start again.- I do find the machine a little bit messy - I usually end up with grinds on my bench and on the drip tray but it does have this little slot on the tray where you can push the grinds into, that's helpful. I think it's just the nature of owning a manual machine though!Other things:A tip I learned - use beans from your local cafe - not supermarket. Thats a mistake i made with my automatic machine, definitely can tell the difference and gives you a better crema and taste!I don't make milky coffee often so haven't used the steam wand much, only when i have a friend over and they want a latte. I probably need to practise this part a bit more!

I liked the way it will freshly grind the beans, however the instructions were not really explaining that you have to hang the handle in a certain point and balance it, then it will engage a lever system to stimulate the function. It took me 30 minutes to accidentally get the beans out the first time I was using it! Then my husband came and made it look easy. I like a strong large flat white and it is a longer drawn out process for me to get the coffee I want, however short espressos for others is pretty easy. Making the hot foaming milk is easy also, and the water tank at the back holds quite a lot of water but you need to filter it before you put it in the tank. The grinding and steaming are noisy ... I use Campos Coffee beans, like my local cafe, and the results are great and worth the little extra investment, just keep them as fresh as possible.So if you are looking to save some money or just to upgrade your homemade options you can’t go wrong with this. It’s great value for money, cheaper than some of the others on the market and the results, both in quality and time, are brilliant in my opinion.

I find the pump pressure available for both pouring and milk frothing is more than adequate.3. The coffee bean hopper fits 250 grams (10 double shots) & now has an enhanced rubber seal to keep the bean as fresh as possible. It feels like the grinder is more responsive to any changes made to the grind settings to create an ideal extraction.4. I was not sure on the practical function of the new featured grind & pour clock but they are both great additions. Once you have set up the correct grind setting and tamper pressure you can use the grind & pour clock to achieve consistent results.E.g. Grinding a quality bean for 26sec on setting 20 with a firm tamper results in a 26sec pour time creating a consistent caramel colour with a good crema.5. Another small feature is the protection around ‘Tap & Go’ group handle lever, this reduces any spillage when grinding.Summary – Looks good, feels good & performs well. I think I will get many years of quality coffee made at home saving me time & money with that self-satisfaction feeling of performing like an actual café barista.
