I like that the on/off switch is not easily bumped on when you are wiping the bench next to it. Love that it has a bright blue light around the base that is clearly visible when the kettle is turned on. Love that you can see how much water is in the kettle and that it has measurements on the side so you can boil the amount of water you want without any wastage. Most importantly for me is the taste of the boiled water, cos that is all I drink, and it passed the test with flying colors. In a lot of other kettles the water tastes like plastic this one doesn't. Would highly recommend it.

2 dud kettles

I bought this kettle first 2 weeks ago. First one returned within the week because it will boil 15 to 20 seconds before turning off, but now and then it does not switch off at all. Hubby put kettle on then went to do something and kettle just kept boiling and was close to boiling dry ( started with over 500ml). GG replaced it for me, but same ussue with this one. I am so disappointed afrer having my previous Sunbeam kettle for years. About to take the second one bake and look at other options.

Cheap, stylish fog machine

I've had this kettle for a couple of weeks now and there are a few things that stand out. It looks great and the glass makes it easy to see where you are in the boiling process. The thermostat isn't very good though, it boils on well after the boiling point sending plumes of steam into the room. If I'm nearby I'll physically turn it off or pick it up. I'm in a soft water area in Melbourne but it still picks up residue on the heating element that needs regular cleaning. At least you can see it with the glass sides. It looks a bit like rust but it's just residue from the tap water.As a cheap replacement kettle It's doing the job but the unnecessary boiling on issue gets tiring pretty quick.

Excellent quality kettle

I bought this kettle to replace my old one which simply wore out. This one is actually easier to pour from as it is more balanced than my previous kettle. It will be more efficient too as it boils very quickly yet has the same rating as my old one. I also like the bling factor of the blue light shining through the water, I didn’t buy it for this reason but it is a nice touch. Would I buy it again if I had the choice? Yes!

Perfect for me

I find this kettle suits my needs exactly. It has a balanced handle that allows my hands to hold it even on my worst shaky asthma days without burning me with steam. The size is also perfect. Holds enough for a cuppa and fills a bottle for later every time.

Sunbeam Black Classics Glass Kettle

Happy with this kettle. Have been using it for five months. On occasion the auto switch off is a bit slow. Like the colour, shape and clear view to easily see water level and when cleaning is required. Opening is easy and full lid opening makes it easy to fill. The blue light is a nice feature.

Very satisfactory purchase

This is my third cordless kettle, with the theory of 'what you paid' is 'what you get', this is the cheapest i ever bought, the lid functions as it should be, yes, i cannot immediately boil another round and the switch won't response, with limited understanding of electronic, i think it is normal, otherwise it may be overheated, and the appliance won't last too long. Well, i paid more than a double on the previous one Russell Hobbs which was wobbly and sounds loud when it was on, so i am happy to buy this Sunbeam Black Classics Glass Kettle, and Myer delivery was on schedule. It is too sad that it was sold out very quickly when my friend want to buy it..it is too late.

Works well but is noisy

I wanted a kettle in which heated water had no contact with plastic. Glass kettle fits the bill and has the added advantage of visible water level.This is a reasonably priced kettle and water pours well. It is also not too heavy, unlike some I came across. In the one month of ownership, glass is still clear and I haven’t had to descale.However, this kettle makes too much noise and hence the low rating.

Works well so far

Lid is plastic, handle is plastic. Top and bottom of the body is metal painted black. Nice kettle, working well so far after 2 weeks. I wish the LED light ring was recessed behind the black body, so it would cast a glow up into the water. I had an old kettle of the different brand like that. This one, the LED strip is entirely visible and I find it's just too bright and you can see all the individual dots along the strip. Just an aesthetic thing, the function is perfectly fine. Lid opens smoothly with the button on the handle, and it pours well.
