The sunbeam grinder grinds beautifully. I use the finely ground setting and it comes out great, except it tends to spill over when coming out from the nozzle. The grind is a little noisy, not as quiet as my other Sunbeam tall grinder, but its bearable. It would be a 5 star if not for the spill and noise, still nothing beats coffee from freshly grounded beans.

Intended to buy a different product for grinding coffee but it wasn't available, so I decided to try this one. Coffee comes out very fine at at least setting 5 and below which is too fine if you are using an Aeropress to make. Would recommend a coarser grind setting for this - have yet to try it. Both the large and small rings won't fit a Breville group head, so you will either need a Sunbeam machine or grind directly into the measuring cup provided with the machine. Will need to experiment with this machine some more to get the right grind size for each application. No settings to adjust grind amount, and only produces a small amount at a time. You will also have to hold and press the measuring cup against the button or it will stop grinding, unlike the auto-grind ... MoreIntended to buy a different product for grinding coffee but it wasn't available, so I decided to try this one. Otherwise appears to do a decent job at producing coffee.

Im pretty happy with this grinder. Im pretty fussy about my coffee but this offers a cheaper alternative that producers good results. Theres no timer so I just weigh my beans and grind them until theyre done. Negatives are that you have to push and hold the button on for the grinder to operate (its quick so not really an issue), and ground beans get caught in the shoot so you have to tap them out. Happy to do this and save big dollars when compared to other grinders though.

We had researched grinders for a while and were on a budget, but we didnt want to scrimp on the burrs. We were lucky to find the Sunbeam EM0440 as it had all the features we needed, smallish, stylish, lots of grind options AND it was on sale! Perfect for domestic use as you have to hold the portafilter or grind holder against the trigger, but we dont mind. We are now enjoying delicious crema espressos and wished we had found this model earlier.
Bought this a few months ago and have been really enjoying it. Very easy to use. Produces a quality grind. Easy to clean. If grinding direct into the group head it can spray a bit when filling it to the top, but that is expected. Cleaning is quite easy. Very happy with it so far. I was a bit unsure due to some negative reviews, but has been fine, just hope it lasts. Very good for the price.
We bought this product to try as a turmeric grinder. Previously we have used blade type herb and coffee grinders, and a Ninja 1000W device. Up to this point, the Ninja was the best, but we still had to sieve the product several times, regrinding the coarser material until we achieved an acceptable ground product. The Ninja is also VERY noisy! The other supposedly designed for herb grinding devices were too slow, and easily overheated.Well! This little Sunbeam bur grinder did the job first go, with no sieving or regrinding necessary. We did need to break the dried turmeric up into smaller pieces so it would go past the weird little cap in the base of the bean holder, but that was easily done by quickly breaking a pile up in an old fashioned mortar and pestle. We did need to break the dried turmeric up into smaller pieces so it would go past the weird little cap in the base of the bean holder, but that was easily done by quickly breaking a pile up in an old fashioned mortar and pestle. I reckon the job took about one quarter of the time we would normally need, with a LOT less mess and turmeric powder everywhere. It does clog if we tried to grind on the smallest settings, but the product we achieved using from about a quarter up or higher is fine (pun intended). The result is much more evenly ground, and I reckon we are using less to get the same results in our drinks and cooking because of this. My wife suggested I clean it out using compressed air, which worked very well.We even ground some coffee with it today! I'll have to clean it our with the compressed air again before we do the next lot of turmeric in a couple of days, though.
Grinds beans really well - particles seem fairly consistent to the naked eye (have not sifted them to check). I clean mine using a vacuum cleaner because while the top burr is removable, the bottom is not - this is unfortunate as coffee gets stuck there and it's difficult to get at even with the provided brush. The vacuum works well, so that is fine. Hopper has a locking mechanism at the bottom so you can take it off with beans still inside - it won't spill its contents all over the counter. The biggest drawbacks are: - the bottom of the spout is always open to the outside air; meaning air can always get in through the bottom to the coffee. Therefore I rarely fill the hopper entirely and just dose the amount of beans I need when I brew. - some coffee always gets ... MoreGrinds beans really well - particles seem fairly consistent to the naked eye (have not sifted them to check). Therefore I rarely fill the hopper entirely and just dose the amount of beans I need when I brew. - some coffee always gets stuck inside the cavity when grinding - I have to bang really hard on the back of the machine to get the grounds out. In a future version they should design the inside cavity better to allow the grounds to slide more freely out of the machine. Regardless, it is so cheap this is well worth the money for the quality of grind.
The new grinder on the finest setting was way too coarse to poor a proper shot. The internet is full of people reporting the same issue with the resolution being that sunbeam sends out a spacer to fit under the burr. In my case, Sunbeam refused to acknowledge the fault existed and were unwilling to help. Grinder is now in the bin. I will be stearing clear of sunbeam from now on.
Do not buy this if you are expecting to grind your coffee finely so that it can be used in an espresso machine. We have a Sunbeam Cafe series machine (which we love) but the coffee from this grinder is too coarse to get the pressure up. We complained about this and were sent a free spacer to add to the machine to increase pressure. The spacer is basically a small stainless steel washer which you place inside the machine. They send you "recalibration" instructions and it's not difficult to do.The first person I spoke to was excellent and the spacer did help to improve pressure but not enough and the beans weren't being ground enough. So this week I have requested another spacer but was told I had to buy one for $11 (yes it's a small washer!), then when I ... MoreDo not buy this if you are expecting to grind your coffee finely so that it can be used in an espresso machine. All this over a washer worth a few cents. So it's not worth the hassle and I wouldn't recommend this model. I don't normally write reviews, but this isn't good enough so it's worth you knowing that the machine isn't suitable for espresso machines - it might be OK for plungers.
I've had this coffee grinder for about 6 months now and overall it does a pretty poor job.It spits out inconsistently ground coffee in a haphazard manner, often making it a messy process unless you use the small plastic container that it comes with jammed right up against the spout. If you want to grind straight into a portafilter, then be prepared to get coffee everywhere.Once you have finished grinding, you will find that there is ground coffee trapped inside the grinder. If you don't shake, slap, rattle or hit the grinder to expel this stuck coffee, it will sit in there until you next use it and the first coffee to come out will be the completely stale coffee that has sat in there since the machine was last used. The grind setting is extremely unrefined and ... MoreI've had this coffee grinder for about 6 months now and overall it does a pretty poor job.It spits out inconsistently ground coffee in a haphazard manner, often making it a messy process unless you use the small plastic container that it comes with jammed right up against the spout.
