I bought this kettle to replace another glass kettle from Sunbeam. I was very happy with the ealier model but this one is a dud. It has couple of faults; the spout does not pour well at all and combined with a poorly balanced handle makes it difficult not to spill hot water when pouring into a cup. I'm sure that Sunbeam can do better.

This is our second Sunbeam kettle. The first one stopped working recently, after performing well for several years (about 7-8 years as I recall). Before returning to a Sunbeam, I reviewed a fair number of articles, including a Choice review (June 2021) and reviews attached to various retailers' websites. The glass kettle is easy to use. The filling guide on the side of the kettle is easier to read than some other brands that, oddly, place the scale behind the kettle handle. It pours well. I had noticed a few reviews that questioned the effectiveness and safety of the pouring, but I've experienced no problems.

Really like the double walled kettle. Even straight after boiling, it's relatively cool to touch so even if the kiddies got to it they'd probably be ok. My only complaint is the spout, which seems to be very high compared to the water level and thus you have to lean the kettle over a lot to pour it out. It just doesn't flow all that well.

This has so far been a very reliable kettle. It’s much quieter then any other kettle I’ve owned, and has a nice wide opening for the lid so it’s easy to clean. It’s also the best looking kettle I’ve owned. I read heaps of reviews before I purchased this, and it has surpassed all my expectations. Blue light is not very bright though. Still, a good quality kettle that will hopefully work for years to come!
This is one of the best kettles I've used. It's super fast, and more that 1/3 quieter than regular kettles - both features I really wanted. The double walled construction remains cooler on the outside, and it does keep the water warmer for longer, but not by any big amount. It's not a cheap Kettle but not the most expensive either, so value for money is so-so.My main issue in not giving this 5 stars is that it's heavy, really heavy... and it's big. It's not going to sit subtly in the corner of your kitchen or in your hand. Two other niggles - the blue light doesn't go right around the rim like my old cheap kettle, so looks 'less impressive' when switched on. And the stainless steel mesh spout filter works a little too well - it restricts the water flow when pouring a ... MoreThis is one of the best kettles I've used. When the kettle is used to boil water and needs to be refilled the lid sticks and does not open when the opening button is pressed. I bought the kettle online and returned it online after talking to the call centre. When the kettle was in the store and it was cold and dry the lid opening button worked. A cold dry kettle is different from a hot kettle which has components that expand with heat. The tolerances on this kettle mean that when the kettle is boiled and needs to be refilled the lid opening is unpredictable and usually requires either multiple pushes or manual intervention with a knife to prise the lid open so it can be refilled. The store did not contact me to discuss the problem and mailed it back to me. I have again used the kettle but the problem ... MoreWhen the kettle is used to boil water and needs to be refilled the lid sticks and does not open when the opening button is pressed. I am not sure if it is this kettle alone or if it a design fault with this model. If they had sent me a replacement kettle then I may have received one that worked and been happy or that one may also have had the same problem if it is a design issue. I would advise against this kettle on the basis of my experience. I would also advise against buying online unless you return the product to the store in person. If like me and the stores are not open for returns you may have poor customer service. They do not contact you to clarify the problem even though they have your contact details. It may just be sent back to you without any chance to discuss the issue
Thie Maestro was not my first choice it was recommended by the sales person , when the one I wanted was out of stock. I hate this kettle and tried to return it after first use but was denied. The kettle is too big and cumbersome . It is heavy even when empty. The fill line is about 5cm below the lid so the angle needed to pour is almost 90 degrees and very awkward . I DO NOT RECOMMEND the Maestro kettle.
Its not like our previous Sunbeam kettle with a blue light, which is why we went for this model. New for old. But its not that good.Firstly it takes longer to boil, when you poor, you start with the hot condensation before the actual poor (this has burnt ourself and our Childrens fingers) and the you get a third leak form the spout at the end.The light doesnt light up the boiling water like the old version (what we were looking for when searching for a replacement kettle). Fast cook time, blue lit boiling water, easy, safe poor of boiling water, just doesnt happen. And when you hit the top point for the real boiling water does fall, it is more like it shloshes all over the place, spilling water everywhere. Purchased this kettle about 2 weeks ago. It looks good and boils quickly and isnt too noisy. It has a couple of issues though - it has a weird balance/centre of gravity. We keep spilling boiling water as you need to tip it a long way to get any more than a trickle to come out then suddenly a heap of water comes out very quickly. May just take getting used to but Ive never seen a kettle do this before. The latching lid has stopped working already too. I.e. press the lid button and nothing happens. It unlatched but the spring mechanism doesnt open the lid. Have to pry it open with fingers or utensil. These issues may be more or less annoying to someone another than me.
The main thing I like about the kettle is its huge capacity for water & its stunning look , very pretty on the kitchen bench . Sometimes its not always whats practical. Its how it looks that counts .
