After a shaky start (the first model delivered was faulty out of the box) I couldn't be happier. This delivers a lovely coffee, is easy to use and clean and is great value for money. I have used both supermarket (shock! horror!) and specialty grounds and both have delivered a rich coffee with a nice volume of crema. I haven't mastered milk frothing, but as I personally prefer a very flat white this isn't an issue for me. However I can't reliably comment on how well this would deliver a cappucino, for example. It's not the most sturdy of machines: I was surprised by how light and plasticky it is. However it seems to deliver the goods, so I can't complain. Ask me again in 12 months!

This is the second Sunbeam Mini Barista I have owned and have purchased an additional machine for the office. It's outstanding for the price range and is compact enough to not overcrowd a smaller kitchen space. It's a commercial sized group handle and a semi commercial steam wand. It heats up quickly and constantly produces cafe quality coffee day after day. The larger steam wand makes heating milk effortless and fast and there is a substantial distance between the drip tray and group handle to place a good sized coffee cup which was one of the most important things I looked for when buying an espresso machine - nothing worse than not having the space to put a mug! My first machine lasted a little over 4 years and the office machine is around 3 and a half years now. ... MoreThis is the second Sunbeam Mini Barista I have owned and have purchased an additional machine for the office. You could spend a lot more money on a prettier unit but at the end of the day this will produce a cracking good cup of coffee every time.

This machine is a step down from my previous Breville and is mostly plastic. it is a very basic machine which only comes with a dual wall filter basket. However, the coffee it produces is at the level of my previous, more expensive, machine and produces a lovely crema. At the end of the day, in my opinion, it's the coffee quality that counts. The lack of a star in ease of use is because of the degree of difficulty in attaching the filled basket to the group head. You need to hold the machine with your forearm across the top and it is a bit of a wrestle. However, it does get easier over time. The pump is awesome, and it steams the milk very quickly. I expect that it will not last long so I paid for an extended warranty. Very happy with this machine so far.

I am not into lacing my coffee with milk, so my review is solely from the point of view of how well this machine makes an espresso (the wife says that coffee + frothed milk is great though). This appliance is my first "real" coffee machine and almost met my expectations. The only problem issue I have with it is that it tends to produce a peculiar type of crema, which I can only describe as overly foamy. Since I knew nothing about coffee machines, I did some reading and learned the difference between pressurized dual wall filter baskets and non-pressurized single wall ones. Long story short, this machine only comes with pressurized dual wall filter baskets, which produce a fake, overly aerated crema. For espresso lovers, this is a considerable minus and if I had ... MoreI am not into lacing my coffee with milk, so my review is solely from the point of view of how well this machine makes an espresso (the wife says that coffee + frothed milk is great though). Long story short, this machine only comes with pressurized dual wall filter baskets, which produce a fake, overly aerated crema. For espresso lovers, this is a considerable minus and if I had known better I would have chosen a different machine. That being said, I do not regret my purchase -- it is certainly better than pod coffee. Would have been a 5 start if it came with both types of filter baskets!
This replaced a base model Sunbeam EM3820 that I loved and used daily for about 10 years. I thoroughly researched the latest reviews in Choice before deciding on the EM4300. This model is definitely a significant step up (for me) in terms of functionality, quality and ease of use. I've been using it every day for almost a month and I'm very pleased with this purchase so far. I really like the thermoblock/fast start up, heavier duty cafe sized group handle, tamper, and the auto shot functions. It is now much faster and easier to prepare a brew, and uses a lot less water. Of course the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I find that the coffee taste is excellent, and better than most cafe bought coffees I've had. I'm not a coffee snob but I do enjoy a good coffee. ... MoreThis replaced a base model Sunbeam EM3820 that I loved and used daily for about 10 years. I grind my own beans and my own grind works well with this unit. Everyone is different but personally I don't see the need to spend a lot more money on a high end machine. Hopefully the EM4300 is as reliable and long lived as my old EM3820.
The product is great once I worked out how to set it up. I followed the instructions to the letter, but could not get the machine to work after trying three times. I then called the helpdesk. Obviously there had been a lot of calls with the same issues as the helpdesk person told me what to do without me even telling her what was wrong. I have asked that the instructions be made clearer. That would have saved me a lot of frustration and a wasted call. HINT you need to remove the plug at the bottom of the water tank!
Our last Mini Barista lasted five years - and it was great right up to the end. I was so happy to find another at Marston Moor, who delivered it to Auckland city in less time than most couriers take to deliver across town. The new coffee machine is fantastic.....it makes beautiful strong coffee that is not over extracted. We are very happy customers. From one family business to another,Thank You Marston Moor
Wow absolutely loving my new coffee machine. And with Grinders coffee it's perfect! Thank you Appliances Online for your amazingly quick delivery! I ordered it on Thursday afternoon at 4.00 p.m. and it arrived on Friday afternoon at 3.00 p.m. I couldn't believe it! I've never had such quick delivery for an online purchase ever before!! I'll be going through your website to see what else I want to buy!! Thank you!
Firstly,The Good Guys gave me the best price and for a coffee machine under $300 its an absolute beauty. The coffee is excellent. Doesn't include a grinder or all the fancy features of other more expensive machines ,and you cant expect for this price.I bought it purely as a backup now that my other Sunbeam is close to a repair (probably 7 years old) and also to take when camping. Its light and portable. As your first coffee machine its a ripper. As one of the other reviewers said" Dont think too much about it,just go and get it"and I did.
GREAT COFFEE MACHINE SO EASY TO USE! EVEN FOR ELDERLY PEOPLE LIKE ME! MAKES A GREAT COFFEE AND IF YOU LIKE MILK YOU CAN ALSO ADD IT AS THE STEAMER ADDS FROTHY MILK TO MAKE YOUR COFFEE REALLY DELICIOUS! ITS VERY EASY TO CLEAN WITH JUST A WIPE DOWN! AND LOOKS GREAT IN THE KITCHEN! AND TAKES UP VERY LITTLE SPACE! I CANT EVEN DRINK INSTANT COFFEE ANYMORE AS IT TASTES LIKE WATER! YOU WONT BE SORRY WITH THIS GREAT COFFEE MACHINE!
