Another bad pad - RETURNING IT

Bought this to replace my other Sunbeam heating pad that I finally gave up on after only 2 yrs of use.Right out of the box it looked and felt CHEAP.The cover and water sponge feel gross and the vinyl waterproof heating pad just slides around on these two things.Ever tried to inflate a child's inflatable toy that's been deflated and stuck together in storage since last season? Thats what this pad is like: it is never flat, it sticks to itself in clumps and it's very frustrating trying to pull it apart with your hands.Google all the problems Sunbeam heating pads have: inconsistent heat, flashing controllers etc..This one is not an improvement.I love the heat and the ergonomics of the controller, but "King Size"? Gimme a break. It's smaller than the cheap one ... MoreBought this to replace my other Sunbeam heating pad that I finally gave up on after only 2 yrs of use.Right out of the box it looked and felt CHEAP.The cover and water sponge feel gross and the vinyl waterproof heating pad just slides around on these two things.Ever tried to inflate a child's inflatable toy that's been deflated and stuck together in storage since last season? Burned my back even after following the istruction

I bought this pad for a strained lower back muscle and read all of the instructions before using it. I even put a towel between the pad and my back as an extra safety precaution and even with that I still received a bad burn on the side where the cord comes into the pad, (like a bad sunburn with 2 or 3 burn scabs. This happened after using the pad for a couple of hours. The pad never got hot enough to become uncomfortable but I still got burned. My Doctor compared it to a bad sunburn and it is starting to heal but it hurt quite a bit for a few days. The other issue is that the pad scrunchs up and is very hard to straighten out flat again even when it has gotten warm again. I've used Sunbeam products in the past without any problems which is why I was so surprised ... MoreI bought this pad for a strained lower back muscle and read all of the instructions before using it. I just bought this over an hour ago. As I sit here typing, its been at over 10min, and I'm still waiting to see if more heat come through. I took off the orginal cover which I feel is too thick and was not letting any heat through. unfortunately, my old SoftHeat brand gave out and forced to buy a new one. I'm disappointed. This producer should add a better heat system and provide a better cover that allows heat to radiate. I dont belie e any of the 3, 4, or 5 ratings. Most of the are using this for animals and some of them probably work for the company tryi g to boost false ratings. This is worthless.... I recommend, Softheat Heating Pad.

Finally A Sensible Heating Pad!
4 December 2018

The selling point for me was that this heating pad stays on until you shut it off. Nothing is more annoying than having one that keeps shutting off every half hour or so. Plus tried a few others and it barely got warm on the high setting!! This one actually gets hot enough to do some good. The price was good as well. You can't find anything in a store anymore so was glad after searching a bit to find this model. Asked the seller if had the no shut off feature as they typically don't say anything about that. Some state they have auto shut off however. I would recoomend it to anyone that likes the "old school" heating pad. Glad they still make these without all of the safety this and that that gets crazy! It's not like small kids use these anyway.

For Bad Back Sufferers
17 May 2016

I am a Polio survivor. I got Polio in 1954 and was left with many limitations. In 1991 I was diagnosed with Post Polio Syndrome. This was when we lived in Syracuse NY. In 2001 I has back surgery and after that developed "cold intolerance". The doctor advised me that I needed to move to a warmer climate. So, we moved to Florida in 2003. I now take a daily "nap". This is when I use my heating pad. Obviously, I have gone through many over the years. This latest, oversize, pad is the best I have purchased. It covers my whole back. The temperature settings are perfect and I like the fact that the pad has no automatic shut off. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Good Value - but NOT Hot Enough
17 January 2018

For the money, yes, it is a good value and very effective for the stray and abandoned animals that I work with because I do not require a very "high" heat setting for my animals. I do not need the heating pad to get real hot, just very warm. It does "not" have an "auto-shut-off"; after 2 hours. It stays ON until YOU shut it off, which is exactly what I was looking for. If you take the cloth cover off, you can experience the higher heat. In my opinion, the heating pad does not get hot enough for an aching back. It will provides some relief, but if you are seeking a "high" heat, this heating pad does not deliver.

Not hot enough
29 December 2023

It is definitely not hot enough. You cannot sit nor lean against the pad, and that for me makes it almost useless. However, I knew this before I purchased it, as having Googled all other heating pads, i found they have the same instructions…no leaning or sitting on. I had no other choice so I bought this one and rarely use it.

Perfect Pad
8 November 2019

So far, so very good. I like this practical, basic-style heating pad with no extra features on it like a timer for what some manufacturer deems to be the limited amount of time that I need heat on my body from a heating pad. This Sunbeam heating pad heats quickly and eveningly on the entire surface of the pad with no hot or cold spots. I'd highly recommend it. One last thing, the three levels of heat intensity are clear and distinct.

Poor designed heating pad.

The heating pad was returned. After only 2 or 3 days the plastic shell wrapped itself around the heating elements inside and formed a roll. It had to be pulled apart several times.

Would buy again
28 February 2021

I've had it a couple weeks now and it works well, gets very hot on the highest setting. It is water resistant because the element is in a PVC bag, I could see that cracking when this gets old but it seems pretty flexible. Slight smell of "new shower curtain" the first few times you use it. Cord is a little stiff, makes the controller fall off the bed a lot if you don't tuck it under your pillow.
