I have been waiting for Oakley to put the Photochromic Lens on the Sutro model ever since I tried them on a pair of Jawbreakers. This type of lens will tint darker and darker the more sun hits the lens. This is an amazing feature if you like doing any outdoor activities where lighting can change. Personally I use them mainly for cycling and backpacking. With cycling if I do an extended evening ride I don’t have to take my sunglasses of when it starts to get darker and risk getting bugs in my eyes. And with backpacking I love that I dont need to take them on an off when going in and out of areas with/without tree coverage. If you are looking for a pair of glasses that you can leave on your face all day then these are the ones.*** One thing to note is that if you ... MoreI have been waiting for Oakley to put the Photochromic Lens on the Sutro model ever since I tried them on a pair of Jawbreakers. I’ve been using Oakley Radars as my default cycling glasses for many years and, in the main, I’ve been very satisfied with them; however, there were occasions, especially when in the drops, I found the top of the glasses obscuring my vision. So I thought I’d give the Sutros a try. I gave them a good test on a recent trip to Gran Canaria and I wasn’t disappointed. Indeed, they were excellent. They were a perfect fit that I often forgot that I was wearing them. They provided great protection and clear vision in all sorts of light conditions. Before buying, I was concerned that the lenses were too large and at risk of fogging, but I had no problems at all. I am extremely pleased with my Sutros and would highly recommend them.

Let me start off by saying that these are some of the best looking sunglasses that I've owned. I purchased them about a month ago as they are marketed as cycling/lifestyle glasses. before purchasing these, I have purchased and still own the original Radars. However, whereas the Radars are very sporty in their looks, the Sutros are truly a multipurpose pair of sunglasses. I love the oversized aesthetic and classic styling. They are extremely light given their size and very comfortable to wear. The field of view they provide is second to none. And with the Prizm Road lenses that mine came with, not only are you getting great looks, but I truly believe the technology helps you view while out on the road. However, given all of the positives of these sunglasses, I am ... MoreLet me start off by saying that these are some of the best looking sunglasses that I've owned. As previously mentioned, I have owned these glasses for about a month and have worn them maybe 10 times total. About half of the time they've been worn while out on the bike. As Oakley's are not cheap to buy, I take every precaution not to touch the lens of the glasses with my hands and to only store them within the microfiber cloth AND hard case provided. Furthermore, I make sure to clean them according to Oakley's own guidelines. Unfortunately, these glasses have already developed a visible scratch on the left side of the lens. Given that I make sure there is no large debris on the lenses before cleaning them as per Oakley's instructions, the scratch must have developed from the microfiber cloth (which I also take care to clean very frequently). I never had this issue with my Radars (which were used for baseball) and after 10 years of ownership still are scratch free save for the edge of the lens that slides into and out of the frame (and not visible when installed in the frame). It is sad that a product that has only been worn about 10 times and handled with every precaution during use and cleaning could scratch so easily. I love Oakley and their designs (especially Sutro!), but when a product is lacking durability like these glasses are, I do not believe I can recommend another person to purchase them.

I purchased these sunglass with the intention of running with them. So far they've done well. There is a tiny amount of nose slippage in the hot Texas heat. It's barely noticeable and basically not existent, but it does happen. However, I can see myself running a marathon in these without any problems. The wrap around frame/lens design shields my eyes from road reflections and makes running more enjoyable. Depending on the temperature, you may miss the breeze/air hitting your eye area, but it's a small tradeoff to keep the sun out of your eyes over long distances. I would purchase again and I do recommend them to those looking for running glasses.
Bought these for my 13 year old son who is of mixed Korean/ Caucasian descent and has a small nose bridge. These are his baseball glasses and he wears them while sweating a good deal down here in South Louisiana so it’s critical they get a good contact with his nose. Otherwise, they would never stay on his face. These do exactly that. The Prizm lenses are great, just as they are on Oakley’s snowboard goggles. We like the sapphire lenses the most for just about any lighting conditions but they work very well for bright, sunny days.
When I first seen these sunglasses I was like got to have them. I went to the Oakley Vault in Milpitas, Ca. To try them on. I try them on until I was hounded by a sales associate. I believe they were for me. I order them, got them and now I am unsatisfied. They don’t fit right on my nose area, when wearing ball cap forward they conflict with the ball cap bill. I turned the hat backwards and I have a better fit. Now arms on the sunglasses have tension to them but it don’t fit right when I move left left/right the sites don’t feel secure. I do like the 24kt lens, and the view covering your eyes are good maybe I need to break them in more,, but as of now not impressed especially have two other pairs of Oakleys.
These glasses not only look cool, but they feel great on your face. As a long-time Maui Jim wearer, I wanted to try something a bit more stylistic. I'm still wearing both pairs for different reasons, but I am loving the fit, finish and style of the Sutro. The lens hue is fantastic for day-to-day use, and it really enhances the colors of life. Love it!
Love the looks especially for biking. For general wear, probably not. Quality is great. Tint in bright sun is good and very clear. Not 5 stars because of 2 design issues. Nose piece just appears more of an add-on versus integrated design and sits on the nose further down. The wide design is great for winds, but the flare-out from the corners allows for low sun to glare inside. Overall, I’m still very happy with the purchase. Just a few design items that could make it better functionally.
I'd been in the market for some running and biking glasses and came across the Sutros. I was a little bit hesitant at first because they seemed like they might fog up in certain conditions, but up to this point I haven't had any issues. They came in a high-quality hard case, with a microfiber bag as well, which is nice for when I need to chuck them in my bag for travel! I've put in a bunch of miles running in them and haven't had any issues with them. They don't bounce or slide off of my face like some of my other glasses would while running or Mountain Biking. They also fit really great with my Bike helmet, which is a plus! The Prizm Trail lens does a great job of providing contrast and keeping my eyes from straining. The lens is pretty large, so if you have a smaller face or prefer smaller lenses then I'd look into the Sutro S!
I always hated wearing sunglasses playing baseball growing up because I could never find any with a full field of vision. While I don't place baseball anymore I also didn't like wearing sunglasses while golfing for the same reason but the field of vision while wearing these makes me forget I'm even wearing sunglasses. They also are so lightweight and fit tightly but don't squeeze your head at all so I can only imagine they would be great for literally any other sport as well.
