We are a Multi Pet household and needed something to keep the dog and cheeky cat out of our elderly cats food. This has worked really well. Took about 2 weeks to fully train our old man on how to use it (he is old and skittish). Our cheeky cat had it worked out within a few hours, and you could see the expression of confusion and exasperation on her face when she couldn't get to the food. As for the dog, she is too big to try and get through the ring to activate the door, so she is kept out also. As the instructions say, some cats take longer to adjust to the system and our old man certainly took his time. I have 2 cats. One prefers to graze and the other prefers to eat all the food in sight. This feeder has solved that issue and saved me a great deal of “policing” food bowls. Based on reviews I read, I was worried it might not close in time to keep my other cat out. However, there’s a setting to adjust how quickly the flap closes so that’s not an issue.2 things I wish were different:- It’s hard to clean. The bowl can’t go in the dishwasher, but does rinse out very easily. Also good splatters on the base and can be hard to get to to keep clean. I’m willing to take the trade off.- I wish there were a2 bowl design like there is for the connect feeder. I’d like to leave dry food out but be able to clean out the wet food side often and there’s not a way to do that, ... MoreI have 2 cats. They began to associate the feeder with themselves. Then I set each feeder up to read their chip while keeping the other cats away, one at a time, when each one was alone. They still try to get into another feeder but aren't able to. They try to feed from the back, but then the assigned cat leaves and the cover closes (they're all set to "1"). I was going to build a top and sides for the feeding station to prevent this, but it's working well now. They are actually eating less than they used to and leaving food in the bowls. Sometimes it did; sometimes it didn’t. I reset it, replaced the batteries, changed the speed to which it closed. I contacted SureFlap’s customer support and was told to send a video. Since the issue was not consistent, it took a bit of time before I was finally able to capture the video. They did send a new unit. However, that unit did not work from the start. It was very slow to open despite brand new batteries and, at times, would not open at all. Again, it was an intermittent issue and I opted not to contact customer support as I’d have to capture it on video. Fast forward to today. I wish I could recommend the feeder, but at the price point, I can not afford to purchase replacement feeders yearly.

Now it stays open long enough for her to back away, walk away, and Rocket to approach and get into the bowl. There is obviously something wrong with the feeder and it should have been replaced. I'm very disappointed with the feeder and the companies failure to honor the warranty.
