Surefeed Microchip Pet Feeder Bowl

The SureFeed microchip feeder is a development of the manufacturer of the multiple award-winning SureFlap microchip cat and pet flaps. It reads and recognizes your pet's microchip or RFID collar tag and opens only to stored animals. In this way it ensures that special feed is eaten exclusively by the right animal and prevents the excessive ingestion of food by specific animals in multi-animal households. The SureFeed microchip feeder can store up to 32 different animals and is therefore ideal for use in multi-cat households. One push of a button is all it takes to put the device into operation. Shy animals can be gradually accustomed to the use of the automatic feeder with the integrated training mode.

Keeps unwanted pets out!

Bought two of these from manufacturer and one from Petco when they were out of stock. Set them up for my three cats at the same time, just used them manually without reading the chip. They began to associate the feeder with themselves. Then I set each feeder up to read their chip while keeping the other cats away, one at a time, when each one was alone. They still try to get into another feeder but aren't able to. They try to feed from the back, but then the assigned cat leaves and the cover closes (they're all set to "1"). I was going to build a top and sides for the feeding station to prevent this, but it's working well now. They are actually eating less than they used to and leaving food in the bowls. I use metal bowls. These are a great time and attention saver ... MoreBought two of these from manufacturer and one from Petco when they were out of stock. Stops working after several months
4 January 2023

I purchased 2 of these feeders last year. One in February and other one in March. The 2nd one stopped working correctly about 6 months later. It would not always close. Sometimes it did; sometimes it didn’t. I reset it, replaced the batteries, changed the speed to which it closed. I contacted SureFlap’s customer support and was told to send a video. Since the issue was not consistent, it took a bit of time before I was finally able to capture the video. They did send a new unit. However, that unit did not work from the start. It was very slow to open despite brand new batteries and, at times, would not open at all. Again, it was an intermittent issue and I opted not to contact customer support as I’d have to capture it on video. Fast forward to today. Again, it was an intermittent issue and I opted not to contact customer support as I’d have to capture it on video. Fast forward to today. Now, BOTH of the feeders I originally purchased are staying open. It is a hassle when the problem is intermittent. I’m unable to capture it on video right away and I’m hesitant to use the feeder as I have a dog who will eat the food when the feeder doesn’t close. When I spend $360 for TWO cat food bowls, I expect them to work longer than 6 - 10 months. When they work, they are fantastic. It actually would be better if they just completely stopped instead of intermittently working as that makes it challenging and time consuming trying to capture video in order to get a replacement. I wish I could recommend the feeder, but at the price point, I can not afford to purchase replacement feeders yearly.

Surefeed to the rescue!
2 November 2021

As our Sphynx male was having digestive sensitivities, he was put on feed-applied supplements and a very expensive specialty diet. We were working around the clock to feed him, while trying to keep twelve other Sphynx from accessing his expensive dietary food. It was exhausting, trying to feed him, ensuring he got enough, before we would have to remove the food for safekeeping. After researching the Surefeed Microchip Pet Feeder, we decided that this was our best option to give ourselves a rest, while providing our boy round-the-clock access to his food. When we received the feeder, we began serving him his meals "within the arc" - to acclimate him to the apparatus. We would manually activate the door gently in increments, while he would be feeding. When we received the feeder, we began serving him his meals "within the arc" - to acclimate him to the apparatus. We would manually activate the door gently in increments, while he would be feeding. After about one week, we decided it was time to program it to operate with his embedded chip. He immediately took to it, and had zero fear of the moving parts. Previously his weight was down, due to our inability to keep him eating. He is now able to free-feed whenever he desires, and we have seen a marked increase in his weight and body condition. This feeder is a miracle, a dream come true, a game changer, a life saver, and more - all in one package! This feeder is worth every penny and then some. There is importance ina slow introduction, to allow your pet to become comfortable with the feeder, but carefully following all advertisements in the instruction manual, you can be successful, too!

The best and almost only option for can-food

The product is well design, well made.Even the instruction guide got some serious good work and will help you to get started, step by step, how to train our beloved pet to use the feeder. It varies by cat and for us it took about 5 days. We use a little Wyze camera to monitor what happened while we were out or sleeping. We have a very petite cat - 8 lbs - she's the one allow to use the feeder, and a big boy.If you own a fairly large cat (17lbs), the arc is definitely too low and could make them uncomfortable, there is should be a Large/XLarge version of the feeder. The other grip I have is the bowl(s) are made of plastic, not dishwasher safe.Good news: you can find steel ones, and the accessories are a big plus although pricey.Overall, we now are 100% sure ... MoreThe product is well design, well made.Even the instruction guide got some serious good work and will help you to get started, step by step, how to train our beloved pet to use the feeder. Worked great for about 8 months, then not

We have two cats - one that grazes (Bella), one that will eat everything he can get to (Rocket). We bought the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder for our grazer in April, 2022. It worked great, then didn't. Around mid-Dec, 2022, I found the Bella's bowl completely empty in the middle of the day. After watching for the rest of the day, we realized that the lid was not closing as quickly - it was closing slow enough that Rocket had enough time to get to it. When we first got it, set on the fastest closing mode, it would close almost the minute she backed out of the bowl. Now it stays open long enough for her to back away, walk away, and Rocket to approach and get into the bowl. Once we figured this out, we bought an cover that's 10 inches long to try to give the feeder time to close before Rocket could get to it. That's not enough. There's time for her to get out, and completely leave the room. This isn't working correctly. We contacted Sure Petcare and explained the problem. We were asked to take a video so that they could evaluate the time. Long story, shortened, they would not honor the warranty. They did send us additional "special programming" instructions to put the feeder into intruder mode. We will try that, it may work, but that is not how a warranty should work. There is obviously something wrong with the feeder and it should have been replaced. I'm very disappointed with the feeder and the companies failure to honor the warranty.
