Product is well made and fits well. Unfortunately this didn't solve my "theft" problem. My thief-cat is still able to bump the feeder's door while it's closing to keep it from going under the feeder's tabs and the anti-theft bar, allowing him to paw out food later. If you have a similar issue, this might not be the solution for you.

Lovely, bright, and smooth print job. Took us a few minutes to figure out how the pieces fit in the deck, but a quick look back at the etsy photo and it snapped right into place. Looking forward to our chunky fast-pawed boy finally being locked out of everyone else's dish.

This is a really great product if you have the Surefeed bowls! Design and concept get 5 stars from me. BUT! If one of your cats is a ridiculously food motivated chonk, this guard will only decrease how many bowls he steals from other cats in your household. Food theft has seen a significant decrease, but was only completely stopped for about a week until he figured out a work around to go back to his thieving ways.

We have three cats and a dog. We leave food down for the cats so they can eat when they are hungry. This brings with it four problems. 1 - the dog will eat the cats food if she gets the opportunity. Cat food is very high in calories and is not good for dogs as a result = fat dog. 2 - Two of the cats are young and we have an older one, so they need different food. 3 - Even with a fly catcher light, there's always the danger of flies contaminating the food. 4 - Wet food left out gets dried out and stale and is wasted as the cats will not eat it. This feeder (we have two) solves all these problems. The cats only eat the food intended for them, the dog can't get to it and the food stays fresh longer so is not wasted - and the flies can't get to it. The only reason I haven't given it / them 5 stars is the cost. RRP around 100 for a pet food dish is horrendous. Even the 50-odd I actually paid is a bit much, but if you can afford it and it solves the problem(s), go for it.
Works perfectly to stop everyone eating each other’s specialty food, especially for the ones who actually let the other cats steal their food ! Easily attaches onto the feeder base and arch. Well worth it if you are trying to keep your other cats or dog from stealing food from the back. Also works to protect the lid and mechanism from damage.
I have been debating one of these since getting my dog and being unable to train her to stop eating the cats dry food. I spent more time buying more cat food than my own. I purchase one of these and although it has a training button I never needed it. I simply click the button to register my cats microchip and put some food in. She began munching straight away. Lifting her away from the food the machine closed letting us know it knew the chip. She instantly went back. It opened and voila. She has been putting her head the right way in every time. And if the dog pushes her aside the machine closes quite quickly as I put the speed up and the dog jumps from the noise. Pros: * Dog cannot get in. * Food stays fresh. * Cat easily learned how it worked. * Money saver. * ... MoreI have been debating one of these since getting my dog and being unable to train her to stop eating the cats dry food. As our Sphynx male was having digestive sensitivities, he was put on feed-applied supplements and a very expensive specialty diet. We were working around the clock to feed him, while trying to keep twelve other Sphynx from accessing his expensive dietary food. It was exhausting, trying to feed him, ensuring he got enough, before we would have to remove the food for safekeeping. After researching the Surefeed Microchip Pet Feeder, we decided that this was our best option to give ourselves a rest, while providing our boy round-the-clock access to his food. When we received the feeder, we began serving him his meals "within the arc" - to acclimate him to the apparatus. We would manually activate the door gently in increments, while he would be feeding. When we received the feeder, we began serving him his meals "within the arc" - to acclimate him to the apparatus. We would manually activate the door gently in increments, while he would be feeding. After about one week, we decided it was time to program it to operate with his embedded chip. He immediately took to it, and had zero fear of the moving parts. Previously his weight was down, due to our inability to keep him eating. He is now able to free-feed whenever he desires, and we have seen a marked increase in his weight and body condition. This feeder is a miracle, a dream come true, a game changer, a life saver, and more - all in one package! This feeder is worth every penny and then some. There is importance ina slow introduction, to allow your pet to become comfortable with the feeder, but carefully following all advertisements in the instruction manual, you can be successful, too!
