My Oceanic DC was coming to the end of it's useful life so I was looking for a new DC. A lot of friends use Suunto so decided to take the plunge. So glad I did, so easy to use and great functionality for both rec and pro divers. Went for the D5 rather than the D6i on recommendation...I can highly recommend this DC. Used t for the first time in Mexico recently and very happy with my choice.

It starts recording almost immediately (0.3m under) and then records depth at 0.1m intervals.Overall, it's a fascinating bit of kit and one I have yet to use all features (compass, mixed gas etc.). I would highly recommend this to all divers - it would suit all levels and is worth the extra few pounds over the cheaper-end ones, and it’s probably as good as one that’s around the £1000 mark (compared on the dive boat)…and it’s rechargeable, where others were not. Mike’s Dive Store also did a great deal on the interchangeable coloured straps so people think I’ve bought two of them!

Neat and compact. But display bright and clear even for my old eyes. So big tick - that was the main requirement. Where I think they fail is having a mineral glass face rather than scratchproof sapphire which is a reasonable expectation at this price point. The scabby film screen protectors debase a lovely product. Yet to use it in anger, but controls seems good to use and navigation intuitive and efficient. Just as well because the handbook is a 'mare. Badly laid out, poorly explained in every way poorer than the handbook for my Zoop. In watch mode the battery seems to last forever with is great for upcoming long haul trips. Changing straps very easy as promised. Because I dive overseas almost exclusively and rent gear I didn't get the Suunto Tank Pod. No question I'd get it if I had all my own gear, as you are missing out on some key features without. In particular calculating your air consumption and automatically converting that into predicted endurance as well as you no deco limits. Its maybe not the best on the market, but it offers a lot for the price point. The key thing if you are doing 3-4 dives per day will be remembering to charge every day (and then recalibrating your compass)

I bought two of these -for self and partner. Just returning from two weeks diving in Bonaire. One is good the other has problems -wouldn’t go into menu mode and was stuck on nitrox, had big temperature differences and compas wouldn’t calibrate. had to run the battery down to zero to be able to re-set. Also has battery problem - uses much more battery than the other. Both display similar dive profiles in use but I am not satisfied it works safely.I will be returning it.Les BrownYork
Although quite dim at surface the display is bright at depth. Computer is sleek and looks really good. Easy to move through settings and recharge.
Looks the part - even out of the water. I'd worried about visibility/clarity prior to buying but I needn't have, the display is as clear as a bell with all the important information front and centre with colour coding too.
Love it!Did a fair bit of research on my next dive watch and am glad I opted for the Suunto. Battery life isn’t great but the ease of set up and usage makes up for a daily charge need!Love that it connects to the app too!
I have used this on 20 dives so far, and i am impressed with the qaulity of this product. The ability the charge the watch yourself instead of having to send it off to get the battery changed is a step in the right direction. I am also very impressed with the brightness and i have seen some reviews online reguarding the brightness, however on land and in water i have never thought it could of been brighter.. very clear underwater, easy to read. Viberation system is welcome feature. Very impressed with the computer so far!!
