There are 3 instructions books inside the box. There is no information on the cameras (leads etc) After 2 months of trying to get help from Bunnings and Swann, I only have a partial answer which has come from Swann and even that seems to be an effort for them. So maybe in another 2 months, somebody may help me. I guess only professional, experienced people buy these. There is absolutely nothing online that I can find either. I am now in the process of trying to find someone to install these. Thanks Bunnings and Swann, at least you got paid, I have to pay someone else to help me figure it his out.

The only downside that we've noticed is that we can't access the security feed from a remote computer. You have to use the hardware that comes with the system or use the app. That would be a nice feature. Overall, we've been very pleased with this security system.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great camera system. The video quality is exceptional and it is simple to use. Installation took me a little bit of time to do, but that's because I wanted to make sure I got the cameras in just the right spots. I installed the recorder in my closet where my router is, which made it quite simple. All I needed to do was run the included ethernet cables from the closet to the cameras, and plug them in. When I turned it on, all the cameras were automatically detected and just started working. I plugged in the recorder to the router and it was off and running. Love it. Very professional system. Crawling through my roof space sucked and took some time, but I never have to worry about recharging batteries or WiFi dropouts. I can have a camera pointing at my front lawn and have the road in view and just switch off movement for that part of the screen. So that every car that drives past won't activate it. Their phone app could use a few tweaks but still love it overall. Recommend watching some YouTube tutorials. One in particular helped me with settings after install. Look, it wasn't cheap, but for the quality and peace of mind it was worth every cent. My main gripe is the talk back function. I can only say one sentence, then have to leave that screen and go back in to keep talking. Phone app problem not hardware.
I’ve been looking for a security camera system for the past two years, but couldn’t find one that had all the features I wanted at a price I was willing to spend. With the arrival of 4K IP cameras and NVR systems, I finally found what I was looking for. After much research, I narrowed down my focus to three products from three different companies. I ended up going with Swann because of the amount of time they have been in business, the features of their products, reviews, their customer service responses to customers on Amazon, and the quality of their software for smartphones, computers, and the NVR. To begin, installing a system and dialing it in is a major project with a learning curve. I ended up going with Swann because of the amount of time they have been in business, the features of their products, reviews, their customer service responses to customers on Amazon, and the quality of their software for smartphones, computers, and the NVR. To begin, installing a system and dialing it in is a major project with a learning curve. I feel that Swann has done a very good job of making the process as easy as possible. After verifying everything worked, I spent five days running the cables around my attic, fishing them through walls, and installing cameras. As each camera was hooked to the system, I would adjust it accordingly to cover the area I was trying to see. In general, the cameras were very easy to setup. My only complaint would be that the camera seems to see 90+ degrees in one plane, but only about 45 degrees in the other. I was expecting 90 degrees along both the X and Y axes. During installation, I found that one of the 60 foot cables fell about 3 feet short of my desired camera placement which led to my only contact with Swann Customer Service. I got on their website and made the contact via CHAT to find out if I could use the 100 foot Cat5e UTP cable sold by Home Depot to replace their cable (by the way, you can). They had my answer for me in less than 10 minutes. After installation was completed, I began the process of adjusting the system to record PIR and motion events, tweak the sensitivity of the cameras, and setup email notifications. This took awhile and required some trial and error. I began by having my wife walk around the areas covered by the cameras so I could adjust the sensitivity so they would just pick her up and start recording. As time went by, I further adjusted the cameras by playing with the area seen by a camera that would set off an alert. This eliminated false alerts created by the wind blowing plants and other items around my property. Besides the four standard cameras that came with the system, I also bought two 4K spotlight cameras (885MSFB). I put one at my front door and the other at my back door. It was easy to adjust the sensitivity for when the flood light would come on, how bright it would be, the area that would set it off, and how long it would remain on. There is also a siren that can be set off if desired. I really like how you can use the phone app (I’m using HomeSafe View for IOS) to talk to someone through these cameras, plus, you can turn the siren and flood light off and on remotely using the app. I have found that on a dark, moonless night, the cameras may not be able to see the area they are covering. I solved the problem by keeping my landscape lights on all night and strategically locating a couple of solar lights. Overall, I’m very pleased with the Swann Surveillance System and would say it has more than met my expectations.
Have had this system installed for just over two weeks - and whilst it worked great out of the box did need to tweak individual camera settings for optimal performance. Living on a busy street did find motion and no PIR/IR setting beneficial for the front cameras and face detection works best for those cameras where the person is looking as directly to the camera as possible - so best used in narrow areas where (at some point) they have to look directly forward into the camera. As for heat-detection this seems to be a bit off for my install (again, could be due to external factors) - but prefer an "alert over nothing" than no alert at all. Initially was receiving a trillion alerts to my phone (which gets old very fast); so be aware you will need to tweak and tweak ... MoreHave had this system installed for just over two weeks - and whilst it worked great out of the box did need to tweak individual camera settings for optimal performance. Initially was receiving a trillion alerts to my phone (which gets old very fast); so be aware you will need to tweak and tweak and then tweak some more to get each camera set up to perform at its optimal. This includes both physical tweaks (i.e. move camera up/down/right/left etc.) and software configuration changes. Am in the IT industry and have seen many security cameras / systems - this one is pretty feature-packed for the price-point. The configuration screens aren't too bad either; everything is rather simple and logical, though did refer to the instruction booklet many times (well done on that too!). Have fun with it - don't make too many adjustments at once and see what works best for your installation. Be patient & use logic. Most of all, have fun with it! :)
I am thrilled with the Swann NVR security system. All of the features the system has makes my house feel very secure. The set up of the system is nice and easy that a normal person is able to complete the set up. The cameras generate a spotlight with a heat and motion sensor. The night vision feature allows for great viewing at night. There is even facial recognition software built in. All of these features are awesome. I hooked my security system up to Alexa and it works really well. I always worry about hooking up outside technology to Alexa due to capability issues, but this system works great. I cannot say enough good things about it and would recommend this security system to anyone.
Overall I am impressed by camera quality, the image quality, and the abundance of features in the Version 8 software. I think the analytics work well once you get the setup correctly, especially the more advanced ones. I definitely would buy it again and I am happy with my purchase. I think these are very competitive with other security systems when you take everything into account, especially for the value (4K, spotlights, analytics, PIR, the customization for notifications, recording etc. etc. ). I have been running for about two or three weeks now and it appears to be reliable and now that I have my analytics set up well there are very few false positives (a bird crossing at the same time a car drives by and causes the PIR to go off) and no false negatives ... MoreOverall I am impressed by camera quality, the image quality, and the abundance of features in the Version 8 software. I think these are very competitive with other security systems when you take everything into account, especially for the value (4K, spotlights, analytics, PIR, the customization for notifications, recording etc. etc. ). I have been running for about two or three weeks now and it appears to be reliable and now that I have my analytics set up well there are very few false positives (a bird crossing at the same time a car drives by and causes the PIR to go off) and no false negatives (someone there and it not picking them up); I have tried myself, had my wife and daughter try many times to verify. I also suggest you do the same to get it dialed in. I only have seven camera's up and I can see 360 degrees around the house with no issues or blind spots. Still deciding where or if I want to put up the eight camera. Now some cons (the reason this isn't 5/5) I think the PIR and motion combo does cut down on my nuisance alarms but it definitely is not flawless depending ambient conditions. Shiny objects such as bbq grills and cars (things people might steal) reflect enough passive infrared from the sun to trick it. Especially when things warm up in the late morning. So I had to go to analytics for my push notifications; you still can get bombarded with false positives otherwise. And I think my biggest complaint is the bugginess/reliability of the phone app and the NVR software. I had to do a manual update of my NVR to get all the analytics up to date, it kept telling me I was all up to date. Which for sure wasn't true and this is where a lot of new options and features come in (like PIR and motion). Unfortunately this resulted in other problems since I had already been setting up somethings using version 7 and had to wipe it clean after upgrading due to some features not working correctly. This of course is told in hindsight and all told maybe 4-5 manhours down the toilet between wrong versions of the firmware and the multiple setups, frustration that the scheduling and other features didn't appear to work at all on version 8 and then my time with the chat support (which actually was a good experience). The phone app(s), which I don't understand why there is more than one option, also have a lot of features but I don't think it has opened and stayed open reliably since I downloaded it. It constantly crashes on start up. And I don't think it matters what wire security system (Swann, Lorex, etc.) you get but it takes about an hour to two per camera to install them properly and get all the fished and installed properly (bracing with 2x4s, hole drilling, filling gaps, aligning the image, fishing the Ethernet cable through walls, which it was nice it was only one cable, etc.) I am not a certified electrician but my time seemed in line with other reviews. So I would plan on a full weekend maybe two depending on how complicated your install is. I would also recommend spending some time planning out where you want all the cameras and the box itself. Hopefully this helps Swann and others make some informed decisions.
I purchased this system from Harvey Norman in Australia and had it professionally installed by an electrician. On the first night, two of the four cameras had moisture inside the lens making the video stream blurry on these two cameras. The cameras are installed underneath the eve of the house and the outside temperate was approximately 8 degrees Celsius so it is within the specified operating range. I took the two problematic cameras back to Harvey Norman the next day; however, I was informed that I had to contact Swann Support directly. I called Swann support and promptly received an email with a case ID number. I replied to the email with photos of the two cameras with moisture in the lenses; however, they did not respond. The cameras are quality definition but that's about all this system has going for it. Hardware instillation is difficult and cumbersome with no thought to setup design. Screws are in difficult to access places on the cameras and the screws themselves are cheap S.steel. The instruction manuals are basic with limited information. The software set up is nothing better. No wifi connection and can only be hard wired to a TV or Monitor which is ridiculous for today. Logging in is cumbersome with a cheap mouse and on screen keyboard to click away letter by letter logins, passwords and set up. Changing the password requires a download and is not convenient at all. The app is not synced and connected to the device and requires it's own password. A very complicated system and is more designed for professionals as there is too much unique identifiers and processes for the home user. It feels like a system from the 90's that hasn't updated with technological advances.
