At first, it wasn't recording to the SD card so I thought maybe you have to have a subscription to Swann, so I got that (I'm just glad on on the free trial period as I certainly won't be renewing it). All that did was make the bell lose connection to everything and disappear from my app. I had to go through the pairing process again as if it was a brand new device. However, still absolutely zero recording. No notifications - once I got the subscription, I no longer get notifications on the phone despite all notifications being on, re-installing the app and the app itself showing events at the door. I did at first get notifications but even then, they were pretty useless (see the next point). The lag...oh my god the lag...when it was actually connected and when I used to get notified there was someone there, if they pressed the button, the bell (speaker) would ring, I'd make my way to the door, answer the door then, if I was lucky, the notification would pop up on my phone. And if I want to talk to someone via the doorbell the lag is so bad it's almost unusable to converse with anyone. We're talking seconds of delay from me speaking into the phone app and the voice coming out of the doorbell. So in short, I wish I had saved my money and just got a plain old school dumb door bell. This was $150 wasted.TLDR - save your money, it's rubbish.

The best camera I bought was recently a doorbell camera. The quality is just amazing. I can talk through it. I can set an alarm off. It’s just great and it’s wireless with a long life battery so you don’t need to have it. Hardwired into the wall, you should get one.

Chime is not so loud and has limited volume customisability. I want to purchase at least one more chime to have in different locations around the house. Finding a place to purchase a standalone chime is surprisingly difficult. I can see from the 90+ questions asked on this page, 4 of them relate to whether one can buy an extra chime. Despite Swann customer service answering all 4 questions (some going back over 2 years), unless I'm missing something, they don't signpost where I can click or go to in order to purchase the extra chime or whether this is available in their online store. Bizarre! 3. When pairing Swann devices, it only allows this at 2.4 GHz. This means that I have to change my router settings (which takes time) in order to separate my 5GHz Wifi from the 2.4GHz, pair the device and then switch my settings back. 4. I would like an option in the app to be able to be notified when ONLY the doorbell rings (ie, mute all notifications except the doorbell). I've tried several options in the app and this has eluded me. 5. No 4K doorbell option. All in all, it's a good doorbell but just that. @Swann tech folk - if you are in the process of developing a new doorbell, please could you look at all the reviews on this page and see if you can fix at least the big gripes. Many thanks in advance! : - )

Good video but not fit for purpose as intended.

Firstly, let me say bought this as a doorbell where I could answer the door with an app.I've had this camera working for around eight months before doing this review. Also, the app says my WI-FI signal strength is 100%, and my phone speed connection (home or away) is quite fast 100mbps+.Ok, the review.I'll start with the positives:The video is very good, and night time video is also impressive. The app is also easy to use and has some very nice functions, like different modes like, night, home, and away.It holds a charge for several weeks and is easy to set up and install. The negatives however make buying this kinda obsolete:Whether I'm answering the doorbell or a motion notification, the camera start-up lag time is a ridiculously long wait, like 20-40 ...Ā MoreFirstly, let me say bought this as a doorbell where I could answer the door with an app.I've had this camera working for around eight months before doing this review. The negatives however make buying this kinda obsolete:Whether I'm answering the doorbell or a motion notification, the camera start-up lag time is a ridiculously long wait, like 20-40 seconds normally, sometimes a lot longer. The majority of the time the person will have already left the door, or on a few occasions they've had enough time to get back in their car and I see them drive past my house.I bought this so I could talk to the caller, but this makes it completely pointless.I bought this as it was $50 cheaper than the Eufy which two of my friends have, but where the Eufy starts up in seconds, this is only good for seeing who did call.

Humming noise home doorbell
25 April 2024

Hello Swann team,1) I've had my WIFI Buddy doorbell cameras for little over one year. I've worked out most of the operational concerns and can report both units are functionally sound. If the design would allow 5G WIFI connectivity, that would be a homerun.2) For my particular installation, not enough cavity was built into the mounting bracket to stow away the wiring (your illustration shows a huge hole in the external wall, that's not real). I installed some 1/4" nylon standoffs which lifted the bracket and provided a place to tuck away the wires.3) LASTLY, this is a concern that I've yet to solve. When using my home wiring that was originally designed for the doorbell mounted in the hallway, the addition of 2 Buddys causes the home doorbell to hum. The hum is persistent in an idle state and increases to the next level when live viewing and/or any interaction with the app. There are numerous videos on the internet that describe this issue and a solution of adding a 10 ohm resistor across the home doorbell terminals. Basically, I found a small voltage potential (2-3 vac) across the home doorbell terminal with enough current to slightly agitate (vibrate) the doorbell plunger. The question is, what is causing the voltage/current potential?Appreciate your timely feedback.

Not Fit For Purpose
21 April 2024

I bought this system for all the positive things it claimed to have and because I already have Swann Security Cameras set up around my house so it would operate on the same App.I’m very disappointed with the operation and like a previous review, it is too sensitive ( which sounds crazy) but I don’t need to know when people are walking their dog past my house on the road. In the the end I have switched off all the alerts which defeats the reason to have the camera. The response time when someone is at the door is pathetic and the person has left before I can respond. It has a rechargeable battery which last a week then takes a day to recharge. I could say more but basically, I would not recommend this item as it is not fit for purpose. šŸ˜–šŸ‘ŽšŸ»

Problems after 10 months
4 September 2024

Bought this just over a year ago and it started to have charging and battery problems after 10 months.I could not find my receipt and Swan were not interested in helping me with the problem. It has now got down to 100% charge lasts one day. after having it 13 months.I also had problems with the app only responding after the person had already left the door.I bought a tp-link camera doorbell yesterday and it works much better and has detection zones to prevent false alarms. I have had tp-link devices more than 10 years without any failures so I am confident that this will last for years.

The motion detection sucks so hard
9 May 2024

Change in light? Motion detected, car drives by? Motion detected, slight breeze? Motion. Detected. This thing goes off at nothing ALL THE TIME. Even when motion detection range is set to ā€œcloseā€. It goes off so much that it’s completely useless as any form of actual notification of real motion, visitors, packages, intruders. From the notes on the website it seems like they practically want you to install it facing a blank wall that won’t change, thus completely nullifying the purpose of buying a video doorbell with motion detecting features. In short, avoid this doorbell at all costs

[Rewarded Review] Excellent quality Video Bell!

This is a really good quality video doorbell. It’s very easy to set up. I charged the doorbell and synced it easily to the indoor chime piece which I have put on my inside wall near my door. The app my wife and I downloaded and after entering our wifi code ( we’ve shared login details on both phones) we were easily able to sync to the doorbell. We now get notifications for anyone ringing the bell so if we are out we can press one of the automated voice instructions such as ā€˜ leave package at door’ or press the microphone symbol and speak directly to the courier. We do also get a lot of false alarms for motion detection from cars going past despite having the motion on a close setting so it doesn’t monitor movement further away and this can drain phone battery a bit but hopefully further updates may address this. The app stores clips of all the movements and deliveries so any issue or anything taken you would easily be able to see what happened. It’s also great that you don’t need to pay a subscription for this like a lot of other popular video doorbells! It has a memory card and on the app it can show you if you are needing to make more room. You can also live view at anytime the view from the camera and record manually too via the easy to use app. The doorbell is a good volume and 6 tunes to choose from ( the dog barking is not for us but might appeal to someone older living alone?!) and even a festive option to have on over the Christmas season! Great doorbell, great camera, easy to set up and install and user friendly app.
