I have bought Swann products before and typically they are easily installed and high quality. This product is no different. It is easily set up and works well. Battery life is okay, however I wanted a more permanent solution so I wired it into the existing doorbell circuit. It is relatively easy to do, except you will need a multimeter, a 10 ohm 1 watt resistor, bell wire and of course tools and connectors. I mention this since you will need the resistor, and possibly more wire. The doorbell cam was complete, except I needed to order the resistor. You will need the resistor for permanent installation.

I also bought two door chimes, one of which was clearly faulty and credit to Swann it was replaced speedily. I have been battling this doorbell for 3 months now. It only works very rarely and now the video and audio is not working at all. I have a brand new wifi router and high speed internet. You can even see in my pics "very good signal strength"...but won't connect or play videos or live video. I still get motion notifications so I know something's connected. So irritating. It makes a nice ornament by my front door I guess. This was a Christmas gift so I couldn't return it which makes me even more furious. It should be illegal to sell junk like this. Do your research and read reviews. Go with a Ring doorbell. Trust me (and others). Look at my pics and welcome to this world if you waste your money on this.Your welcome.
Received as a gift. Set up worked as they said it does. From there ???? Goes offline most of the time, gives notifications (with a pic) about every 3-5 min, sometimes every 20 min showing ?? Nothing. I had a package delivered, I watched the delivery guy walk up the driveway, drop of the package, ring doorbell, walk back to his truck, and drive away. I got a notification about 2 min later. When I opened the notification, I found a 15 sec video of my empty driveway. This is just one example. After 3 calls to “support” and rebooting numerous times, deleting the app and starting over - twice. Still does not work properly. The doorbell is setting about 3’ from my router - no walls between. Generally good quality construction. It's a good feature that it can be wired so as to avoid having to continually recharge the battery. However there are a number of clear negatives. 1. Motion sensitivity is not so good - it takes many seconds to activate and (see #2) then it's too late. 2. The range of view is too limited - you cannot see someones head/face when they're at the door and the camera doesn't activate (see #1) until they're already there. 3. Wiring the unit into the existing doorbell wiring removes the possibility of using your existing doorbell (if wired in series with a mechanical switch, it doesn't work).
Good Points: Is fine as a wireless doorbell with the chime which is sold as an extra but you are better off just getting a wireless doorbell.Improvement Points: The delay between motion detection and recording means that at best there is a video of the caller walking away.There is a delay in receiving the notification to the phone for motion detection or bell meaning you usually miss the caller. I often get the notification that I have come home while I am putting the kettle on.Frequent false triggers but you can't tell which as the lag means the caller is frequently missed by the video.There is a considerable delay, circa 10 seconds for the video to load when you connect from your phone.
I have recently installed Swann Cctv around my property and it is fantastic quality and is far superior to a previous cheaper alternative that I had to return. As I was so impressed I decided to also fit a Swann doorbell being much cheaper than other more obvious suppliers but am not as impressed with the picture quality. It is reasonable and ok enough not to return but nowhere near as food as my Cctv. Also you need to ensure traffic is not visible otherwise many false alarms. I need to install a DIY wedge behind the doorbell to tilt it down so traffic does not trigger the alert. I would still get this over say a Ring version as it it much cheaper and still suitable.
I purchased The Swan buzz doorbell and cameras within the last 6 months. They won't stay connected to the WiFi. I have had a tech out from our internet provider a couple of times just to find out it's not the internet at all. I purchased both products from Menard. I spent over $600 for both & they are junk. I am a business owner & wouldn't recommend these products to anyone. Please look into the products you buy thoroughly before spending so much on a security system.
