I purchased a Swarovski 10x56 SLC binocular. It arrived within two days, and the packaging was perfect, as I have come to expect from SportOptics. I had issues with them and felt they were out of collimation, or I was doing something wrong. I requested an exchange, and Kristen at SportOptics said that I might prefer the 15x56 since my primary use for them was for astronomy. She was correct, and she exchanged the 10x56 size for the 15x56 size at no additional cost, even though they were $50.00 higher priced. But that is not the end of the story...one of their technicians called me to tell me there was nothing wrong with the binoculars I returned. They will be an heirloom to one of my children.I requested these as my retirement gift because I realized I would never spend this much for a pair of glasses but believe me they are worth every penny! every penny! The only issue I have is that I am intimidated every time I take them out of my safe to go afield, that something will happen to them but thats just the way I am. I've always assumed that these were beyond what I genuinely needed for hunting. After hearing enough "seeing is believing" comments, I decided to take the leap. I've been happy with my other bino's (Vortex Razor HD), but after using them side by side with the SLC's in various lighting conditions, it's now apparent to me that the SLC's are that much better. Fine details are just that much easier to pick out, even with lower magnification. It's not just low light performance, it's all around in my opinion. If you want to see that much more, make the investment. You really need to take them out into the field to fully appreciate them as in the store, I was unable to really appreciate the difference for the $'s.

I bought these binoculars 3 years ago after having a Swarovski Scope for my Elk rifle for a number of years which I loved. I looked at the Zeiss and Leica comparable products, but had such a good experience with my scope I decided to stick with the Swarovski. That was a mistake!Within 3 uses of the binoculars the focus wheel bound up and wouldn’t move. So I sent them back for warranty work. When I got them back, the index numbers on the diopter adjustment were not centered correctly on the indicator mark, so I sent them back again!Fast forward two years and the optical coating on inside of the objective lens started to peel off. This was caused by the seal failing apparently and moisture getting in. So I sent the binoculars off a third time for warranty ... When I got them back, the index numbers on the diopter adjustment were not centered correctly on the indicator mark, so I sent them back again!Fast forward two years and the optical coating on inside of the objective lens started to peel off. This was caused by the seal failing apparently and moisture getting in. So I sent the binoculars off a third time for warranty work.Mind you it is 8 - 10 weeks and expensive shipping every time I have had to send these back to Swarovski.Upon receiving the binoculars back, they neglected to reinstall the lens covers I provided, so therefore the warranty job ID tag they include in the shipping bag the binoculars are packaged in, fell off and then stuck to the objective lens leaving the adhesive residue on the lens. So about an hour of delicate cleaning with anti-reflective lens cleaner was needed to fix this.So not only is the product quality suspect for an item of this cost, but the warranty department is not what I would expect for a high-end product. When they work correctly and don’t have adhesive goo smeared on the lens, the optical quality is superb. I am extremely careful with my equipment and especially high-end equipment so this isn’t a case of being hard on these binoculars.I would recommend not spending your hard earned dollars on this product. Until Swarovski gets their product quality and US based service center figured out, I would look at the other high-end brands first.
These were supposed to be my end all lifetime binoculars, they're certainly not cheap and it took a substantial effort to make the jump. Long story short, clarity is great but durability is not included. I've sent these back to Swarovski three times now for repairs and currently I'm in need of repairs for a fourth time, in the middle of hunting season. Issues have included center axis pin, fine and coarse focus adjustments, eye relief adjustment, and eye cups. Swarovski best get their act together, they don't hold a candle to their competition these days. Buy these if you're looking to impress your buddies in camp, they're not dependable for much else.
We have the 15x56 and it is as fine a piece of optical equipment as you will find. This binocular has become our primary optic for spotting rockchucks and has supplanted our Leupold 12-40x60 and our Vortex Razor 20-60x85 spotting scopes in that roll.It is mounted on a Manfrotto 055 XPROB tripod with the center column in the horizontal position. You will need a Manfrotto angle bracket and I reccomend a Manfrotto video pan head. This will allow the tripod to be setup off to the left side of the bench with the binocular over the table so you can rest your elbows and glass for days.Once a chuck is spotted you don't need to change position to shoot and can get off a shot very quickly. We also use the big Swaro for sporting big game from the truck and it is a dandy ... Basically we don't really use spotting scopes for looking for game any longer, we use them for looking at game after it has been located using binoculars. We have Nikon EDG, Leica, high end Vortex and Leupold binoculars and this binocular is every bit as good optically as any of our other binoculars and better than most.Realy, in all honesty, if you are a long range varmint shooter and/or do much big game spotting there is nothing that can compare to these big Swaros or a pair of Docter Nobilem 15x60 poro or the long discontinued Zeiss 15x60 power poro when it comes to high powered binoculars. The Docter and the Zeiss are huge and heavy even compared to the big Swaro though and don't have as wide a field of view. All three of these are simply in a class by themselves though and all three command respect. Now that we have had them for a year we would never want to be without them again. If you can't justify the cost of the Swaro 15x56 the Vortex Kaibab will serve you almost as well. I have used both, side by side, in the field and the Swaro is better glass, no doubt about it, but the Kaibab does come pretty close at half the price.
5 stars all the way both in the quality of these 15x56 Swaro binos and the support from GoHunt. I contacted Cody and he walked me thru why this is the best you get on the market today for my upcoming mule deer hunt and future hunts. Okay the price hurts. Yes it is by far the most expensive hunting tool I have bought next to my ATV or my truck but once you pay off the credit card and get behind these, you will not regret it. So I found on several mornings glassing that I could sit there and glass for 3+ hours totally forgetting how much time had gone past because they were so comfortable to look thru. This one piece of gear literally made my trip for me. Cody mentioned these were better than 18x binoculars of other premium binos because the optical quality was just that good. I was doubtful on this point but he was right. I was glassing next to a Nikon 10-30x Spotter that is about 12 years old ($650 back then) and the Swaros helped me look at deer at 2+ miles much more comfortably and with much better detail at all ranges of the Nikon's higher range. I have these mounted on a Mutntgear post with quick release to a Sirui TY-70A quick detach plate and VA-5 head on a SLIK 634 tripod and I do not think this set up can possibly be improved. I have been hunting for 27 years and I regret not investing in this until now. The eye fatigue of a spotter is real and glassing thru these binoculars is how I see myself going forward for sure with using the spotter only for detailed quick looks.
For starters- I saved for two years to be able to afford these, money well spent!I wish I had every penny I’ve spent over the years buying more economic glass, so I could put it together to buy a pair of EL s.Swarovski - is first class with everything they do, from customer service, packaging, experience, and alpha glass. I had extremely high expectations for these, and they surpassed them all. I experienced the wow factor watching a hawk at 475-500 yards in the evening light. With my Leupold Mojave HD 10x42, I could make out the bird and tell it was a hawk. With the Swarovski SLC 8x42, the story changed. The hawk was vivid, bright, and the color scale was intensified. I tried all the quality binoculars at a local big box sporting goods store and looking at objects inside the store just doesn't tell you much. I wanted a really good pair 15 power binoculars and I think I found them. I would like to have found a pair that was equally good but cost less, but decided to buy the best and not to take a chance and be unhappy with them after I tried them.I had heard about the quality of Swarovski binoculars and after using them in the woods looking for elk and deer, I can say without reservation that they are the best binoculars I have ever owned. I recently upgraded from a mid-range Nikon Monarch ATB 12x56 to this Swarovski SLC 15x56, it is a quantum leap in clarity and brightness. The biggest difference is that the flat field (this bino is not advertised as one but it is in ~95% of FOV whereas the 12x56 Nikon is ~70%) so the glass simply disappears, giving a view similar to what I get with a APO telescope with Nagler eyepieces. Even at 15x, the bino is handhold-able to give enjoyable views. All of sudden I notice so many birds in my neighborhood and in many cases can count feathers. Due to narrower FOV and slower focus, it is not suitable for birds in flight but works great for perched birds on the trees. My other intended use is stargazing which is sensitive to vibration. I specifically sought out SLC 56 for its Abbe Koenig prism with 93% transmission to get the absolute best in the roof prism category. For astronomy, I plan to supplement with tripod mount with the very expensive SLC adapter. Handheld view of M42 is quite impressive though. For pure handheld view under dark sky, SLC 10x56 would have been a better choice, but my brighter suburban sky would be better suited for 15x56, plus, I would like the complementary wide-angle view of my 8x42, so 15x56 became my best choice.
