If you have a Synology NAS, not sure why you would choose the WD or IronWolf…price difference is negligible…on insertion into NAS, they optimized themselves which not sure if that is results in much yet, but gives you the confidence they are made for each other

Pricey, but didn't want any issues with Synology. Long term the cost won't matter. I am a home use that utilizes the system (DS1621XS+) for photo management and workflow, surveillance, and backup not only of home system but remote work site. Attached via a 10gbe backbone with speeds greater than 600 MB/s. Couldn't be more thrilled. Purchased along with synology 12 TB hard drives (qty 6), 32GB ram, and 2 400GB NVME drives.

The drive looks really good with the only difference being in the sticker on the front of the drive. I bought two drives to go in my DS220+ and they work great.

Excellent so far. Time will tell on longevity. 3 of these in a synology 1621+ and no issues so far.
Pros: Works right out of the boxCons: Not competitively priced. Trief Irom Wolf but wouldn’t work despite being on Synology’s list. Wouldn’t be surprised if Synology make it so.
Ordered 6 12TB drives for a client's Synology DiskStation DS1823xs+ and all came with no errors, are extremely fast individually and very very strong drives when benchmarked in a RAID 6 (72TB, with 43TB usable in this configuration). Was able to practically saturate a 10Gbit network connection when testing sustained read/performance). Wrote a 4GB file to the NAS from a PCI 4.0 NVME Drive and hit 1080MB/sec. All came with Firmware 1401 and was easily updated in Synology DSM to 1402. Drives are fairly quite considering their capacity and intended performance in a NAS environment. Would recommend, other than being way more expensive that non-Synology branded Drives like an equivalent Seagate IronWolf Pro, etc. but as the compatibility list grows for this new NAS, other ... MoreOrdered 6 12TB drives for a client's Synology DiskStation DS1823xs+ and all came with no errors, are extremely fast individually and very very strong drives when benchmarked in a RAID 6 (72TB, with 43TB usable in this configuration). Works great with DS920+. Setup is easy. Plays well with Synology DS920+. I have four of these and everything works as intended. Depending on where the NAS is located, it tends to get a little warm even if it's hybernating. An open shelf is probably best. I have mine inside a cabinet and it gets warm inside.
Pros: Guaranteed compatibility with Synology NAS.Cons: Limited capacity steps (4 / 8 / 12 / 16 / 18 TB`) so you may end up spending more than is necessary to get the capacity you need.
Large capacity HDD for you NAS or a full-blown server. Can also be used in a home PC as a secondary storage.
This brand does not position itself as a manufacturer for gaming PCs, its drives are usually large and are designed for professional tasks associated with storing and processing large amounts of data.
