This could have been a nice machine. But the new policy of Synology about vendor lock hard drives is unfair.I already own 4 rackstations with 80 hard disks. Using Synology drives instead of Seagate Exos Enterprise drives means to threw up 10 000 $ or more.Dell plays that sort of limitation more than ten years ago and it was my main reason to move to Synology. Just two years ago, during their annual public show, Synology had close partnership with both Seagate and Western Digital. Now they rebrand Hitachi drives with a label and a dedicated firmware and add 30% to the list price.For those who have warning messages while using other drives, you can hack a file inside the DSM to remove the locks.
