French Earl Grey …So SAD I can’t afford anymore

This is my favorite tea, drinking since 2014 when an Aussie couple moved, opened a beautiful café in Miami & I was hooked. I purchased through them & then started purchasing through T2, then USA distribution. However now ALL US IS CLOSED. The refill foil price has sky rocketed and shipping to the US is $30 unless I purchase over $100. I’ve emailed T2 SO many times and purchasing from Amazon is unpredictable and they DO NOT sell French Earl Grey loose tea! Yes, I’m being completely dramatic but it’s my TEA. Over these 8+ yrs even made T2 French Earl Grey biscotti & scones for gifts. It’s a shame, this is something I’m now not able to enjoy in my mornings and afternoons.

I like Earl Grey and Lady Grey teas, but was blown over when I had the French Earl Grey during a vacation in Tasmania. It was everything I love about Earl Grey and Lady Grey (i.e. the citrusy tang from bergamot and lemon and orange peel) overlaid with a floral note. I love florals, so this tea was heaven in a cup.On my return home, French Earl Grey was my first purchase! However, it was only after my purchase that I realised I could have bought an Icon Tin of this rather than paper box or pouches which were the only packaging options that showed up when I did a search for French Earl Grey. This was very disappointing as I would have loved having a customised, dedicated container - hence 1 star taken off.PS: if you don’t like florals, you will not like this ... MoreI like Earl Grey and Lady Grey teas, but was blown over when I had the French Earl Grey during a vacation in Tasmania. This is an absolute delicious tea. The lovely floral fragrance which wafts up when you open the large refill pack is enough to get me grinning and builds up the anticipation for the gorgeous tea. Anyone who happens to be nearby in the kitchen will come wandering over at the scent and I'm happy to share the love. Steep for a bit in hot water and get sipping! I don't bother with milk, just distracts from the beauty of French Early Grey. Can't recommend this tea highly enough.

Nice
3 March 2022

I bought this after seeing it was the top rated breakfast tea on here. Nice breakfast tea, can taste the vanilla but it smells stronger in the tin than in the cup. I do wish it was stronger but i understand most people would rather the black tea taste being stronger than the vanilla. Quite nice though and I have sort of switched to drinking this in mornings rather than my 2 decade long morning coffee routine - so that's exciting. I drink this with a dash of milk and sugar. Love the tin also. I look forward to trying the other breakfast teas from T2 :)

Perfectly wonderful!
20 January 2018

I purchased this tea, untasted, on the recommendation of a friend in Melbourne. I occasionally drink regular Earl Grey tea, but I will be drinking this French Earl Grey on a regular basis. The fruity/flowery flavor from the hibiscus, sunflower petals, rose petals and mallow flowers is subtle and complex. I needn’t have worried that the flavoring would overpower the natural black tea and bergamot flavors. This tea is just perfectly put together. I’ve tried it with and without creamer but find I prefer it plain.I use an Inteye tea strainer that works very well as it has great flow-through and can be used for multiple cups of tea, in teapots as well as single cups. It looks much like the one that’s included with the T2 Teaset that’s sold here. I find I can easily get ... MoreI purchased this tea, untasted, on the recommendation of a friend in Melbourne. It looks much like the one that’s included with the T2 Teaset that’s sold here. I find I can easily get a second cup of tea from these leaves if I let it brew 5 or 6 minutes the second time around. I’ve also tried brewing it in a 300 ml cup, letting it brew a little longer, and it worked just fine.I live in California and worried that it might take forever to get here. But I placed the order on Sunday and it arrived on Friday, a perfectly acceptable amount of time. It was shipped from New Jersey, on the east coast. Communication was great with confirmation emails and notifications when it shipped. Good shopping experience and wonderful teas. (I ordered 2 others as well which I’ll review later,)

Smoky, bacon-y, probs not for everyone
16 July 2021

As most reviews attest, this tea is definitely smoky, like campfire whiskey smoky and a bit ashy, but in a nice way, like a nostalgia trip to a time that may have never existed but could have...The tea-ness flavour itself isn't overly intense or in your face, this tea is all about the smoke and ash and bacon. I swear there's like this pleasant (if you like bacon) bacon-grease flavour hit that's a little unusual but actually quite nice. But I could see this tea not being for everyone, even people who are into tea may not love it. I love tea but not sure this is an everyday tea for me. It's very savoury and the smokiness definitely lingers, so if you like those kinds of ashy smoky whiskey flavours, you'll probably dig this. If you're not sure, I'd suggest sampling ... MoreAs most reviews attest, this tea is definitely smoky, like campfire whiskey smoky and a bit ashy, but in a nice way, like a nostalgia trip to a time that may have never existed but could have...The tea-ness flavour itself isn't overly intense or in your face, this tea is all about the smoke and ash and bacon. The Best Tea Ever
30 January 2022

Literally my favourite tea, ever. I don’t even like normal earl grey tea as it tastes like soap, but T2’s French Earl Grey is just magical! I recommend it to everybody and always serve it for afternoon tea. It is just so unique and the bergamot and flowers blend so well with the tea and any kind of milk you add. I couldn’t believe French Earl Grey wasn’t a tea you could find elsewhere, either! It’s so good that I thought it was a regular type of Earl grey, but no - it’s unique to T2! So happy I can order it internationally!

The perfect comfort black tea
31 May 2022

One of the standards in our house, we always have an extra supply in the cabinet. It's a strong black tea base with a great vanilla layer. Not artificial tasting at all, smells great, works hot or cold (I actually think the vanilla pops more when it's cold). Perfect on it's own or with sweetener and milk.

The product has declined in recent times as the maker has introduced more fines in the mix. These fines may be ok in a tea bag but are NOT welcome in loose tea!! Yummy tea
8 June 2021

One of my favourite teas in the T2 range. I hadnt tried it in the loose leaf form before so decided to give it a go. Only a teaspoon is needed in a small individual pot though as it is quite strong. I had this on an empty stomache and made it too strong I think, as it actually made me ill, so was sure to only use a small amount the next time and have food beforehand. Find the tea bags are easier and less messy. The loose leaf tea is quite messy and once opened I put it in a snap lock bag to keep it fresh in the box.
